World Merges
UTC: August 28 (after maintenance)
- Did you hear? Our worlds are merging!
- A world merge is when several worlds are combined together into one new world so the players from each of those combined worlds can meet and play together in the same world.
- The first new world is called Elysium and includes Broa, Khaini, Galicia, Renegades, Arcania, Zenith, El Nido, and Demethos. The second new world is called Aurora and includes Windia, Mardia, Yellonde, Bellocan, Chaos, Kradia, and Nova.
- If you were in one of the affected worlds, you will now log in by choosing your new merged world at the World Select screen.
Character Slots
- The maximum character slot will be increased to 50 for all worlds after the world merge update.
- The character selection screen will display up to 50 characters - players who have a large amount of characters from multiple merged worlds and who exceed the max character count in the new world can open a special UI to select which of their characters they would like to display within the new world's character selection screen. Those players who have more than 50 characters must select 50 characters through this UI and start removing their characters until they have fewer than 50 characters. The 50 characters they choose will be displayed in the character selection screen and can be accessed normally, while their excess characters will be temporarily inaccessible.
- After these players remove some characters from their character selection screen, they will be able to access the newly added special UI again in order to select other characters to replace the ones they removed. This special UI will be provided after the world merge until January 2020.
- If players don't select the 50 characters that they wish to display on the character selection screen before the UI is removed in January 2020, only the highest-leveled 50 characters will appear on the character selection screen and players will have to remove characters to access the hidden characters.
- Prior to our world merge update, players in these merged worlds who have a large amount of characters are highly advised to begin removing their characters and consolidating their equipment so they can easily access all their characters later once the world merge is officially implemented.
- New worlds will have 8 free character slots by default, just like other worlds. If a player has 8 default character slots open for all Alliance worlds, this player will still have 8 free slots in the new world.
- If a player has 8 default character slots for all Alliance worlds and also has 10 additional slots that were opened by using character slot coupons, this player will have 18 slots open in the new world.
- Until January 2020, if you obtain any empty slots, a special UI will automatically pop up so you can select the characters you want to display on the character selection screen. After January 2020, the next highest leveled character will be automatically displayed. If you have more than 50 characters and want to create a new character, you have to remove your unused characters until the total number gets to 49.
- From the start of the world merge until January 2020, the daily limit for deleting characters will be raised from 5 to 10.
- Extra Character Slot Expansion Coupon will be on sale for 99 NX from after maintenance on August 28th until January 2020.
Legion
- The Legion Blocks and Presets previously set will be reset in new worlds.
- The data from the one world (out of the many merging worlds) that has the most progress will be applied to the new world.
- All the existing Legion Coins in the merging worlds will be combined.
- Lab Legion Blocks will carry over to your new world.
Guild
- Guild names are unique per world, which means when several worlds enter into a world merge, there may be some duplicate guild names.
- If there are any overlapping guild names, they will be renamed automatically by adding some random characters during the maintenance on August 28. The guild name should not exceed 12 characters in length. If your guild or guild alliance name was longer than this, it will be shortened to 12 characters. Guild and guild alliance leaders who were affected by the duplicated names will see a pop-up when they log in to MapleStory. This pop-up will allow the leader to change the name of the guild or guild alliance. Only the leader will receive the pop-up and this pop-up will be available from August 28 to January 2020. If the leader of your guild or guild alliance is no longer active in MapleStory, you should contact <a href="https://support-maplestory.nexon.net" target="_blank">Customer Support.
- Guild and guild alliance creation will be blocked from August 28 to September 8. You will not be able to create new guilds or guild alliances during this time.
Rankings
- The World Rankings will be re-calculated according to the rankings after the merge.
- The current ranking records for Mu Lung Dojo, Dream Defender, and Legion will be reset. It will be re-calculated sometime next week.
- Your current floor on Dream Defender and Legion level will not be reset.
Storage, Cash Shop, Monster Collection, Achievements, and Link Skills
- When exceeding the max meso value for Storage Room, the total amount of mesos in storage will be added together to a total of 29,999,999,999 mesos in Storage Room. Players are highly advised to move the exceeding mesos in the storage to the characters that they will keep so they can easily track their mesos. The exceeding mesos will be given separately as coins through the Gift Drop.
- When exceeding the max number of items in the Storage Room, the number of Storage Room slots in each world will be added up, only up to 128 max. Items exceeding the limit will be hidden, and these items can be displayed when withdrawing items from the slots. The players in these merging worlds who have a large amount of items in storage are highly advised to clean up their items so they can access all their items with ease after the world merge is implemented.
- If exceeding Storage slots have been purchased through the Cash Shop, players will be compensated accordingly. Please see below for the detailed compensation plan for the exceeding slots that have been purchased.
- When exceeding the max number of Cash Inventory items, items exceeding a certain amount will be hidden; hidden items will be displayed when a player withdraws the existing items.
- When exceeding the max number of Auction House slots, items exceeding a certain amount will be hidden; hidden items will be displayed when a player withdraws the existing items. If the players exceed the Buy and Sell slots, they'll have to move the exceeding items to the inventory to be able to buy and sell again.
- The Monster Collection data from the world that has more data will be brought to the new world. If you don’t like the data set that is applied to your new world, please contact our Customer Support team so we can swap the data set with the other world’s data after the merge. It will be helpful if you take a screenshot of your Monster Collection progress and share it with us when you ask for the data change.
- The completed achievements will be saved after the world merge. But due to the complexity of the data structure, there’s a chance that the saved achievements that are still in progress might not be the most up-to-date.
Character Slots and Storage Slot Refund
- Character Slot Expansion Coupon: Since the default number of free slots is 8, if the number of character slots that a player has is more than 50 (including 8 free slots), this player will get refunded in Maple Points for the exceeded amount.
- Storage Slot Expansion Coupon: Since the default number of free slots is 4, if the number of Storage slots that a player has is more than 128 (including the free slots), this player will get refunded in Maple Points for the exceeded amount.
- For example, if a player has exceeded the slot number by 10 and purchased 5, they will get refunded for 5 coupons with Maple Points. If they’ve exceeded by 10 and purchased 15, they will get refunded for 10 coupons with Maple Points.
- Only the character slots and storage slots that have been purchased from the Cash Shop will be refunded if the amount of slots exceed the maximum. But if you have unlocked your slots using free character slot coupons, the slots will be carried over to the new worlds (as long as the total slots are within 50).
- Maple Points will be refunded during our next scheduled maintenance.
Maple Rewards Shop
- The Maple Rewards Shop purchase limit will not be reset with the world merges. The reset will take place with the start of the next month following the merges.
- For August, players will only be able to purchase Maple Rewards Shop items within the monthly limit by August 27, when the world merge maintenance begins. The Maple Rewards Shop will be closed from August 28 until September 1. We recommend that players purchase all items they need before the world merge update begins.
Other
- Meso Donation King rankings will be re-calculated into Top 5 rankings based on the merged world.
- The character display order will be reset.
- Link Skill information will be reset.
- Due to the complexity of account-shared quests, there is a small chance that some quest progression may not be completely transferred during the merge.*

EXP & Drop Event

- Celebrate two new worlds with double the fun!
- Accept the quest ‘Get EXP/Drop Rate Coupons during the World Merge event!’ from the star event notifier on the left side of the screen to get your EXP and Drop Coupons!
- Come get your EXP and Drop Coupons to level up faster.
- You can receive these items daily per character.

Mega Burning Event<a name="Mega"/>
UTC: August 28 (after maintenance) – September 17 at 11:59 PM
Requirements: This event can only be started by characters created in Aurora or Elysium during the event period.*Pathfinder and Zero characters cannot participate in this event.*
Illium characters need to complete your Illium questline first before teleporting out of the area. Otherwise, you won't be able to get your 2nd job advancement properly.
- You can designate one Burning character and level it up to Lv. 150!
- Accept the quest ‘[World Merge Event] Reach Lv. 150 with 1+2 level ups during the Mega Burning Project!’ from the star event notifier on the left side of the screen to receive the rewards listed below.
- After creating a new character, you will be given an option to give it a ‘Burning’ effect.
- You cannot go back to give it a ‘Burning’ effect after refusing to do so during character creation.
- You can choose to Mega Burn one character per world.
- After your character reaches Lv. 10, they will begin to earn two additional levels every time your character gains a level up to Lv. 150.
- Power through and earn rewards along the way, including the Keep on Burning title when your Burning character reaches Lv. 130!

- Help Cassandra test her EXP Pouch and accrue EXP for doing nothing!
- Accept the quest ‘[I Haven’t Done Anything] Mysterious EXP Pouch’ within the star event notifier on the left side of the screen.
- Upon accepting the quest, you will be given an EXP saving pouch. You can only accept the EXP saving pouch once per account.
- EXP accumulation is shared within the account. EXP is given proportionately according to the level of the character trying to collect EXP.
- EXP is accumulated in the EXP saving pouch up to certain hours depending on your EXP Pouch level. The Level 1 pouch can store EXP for 6 hours while the level 10 pouch can store EXP for 24 hours. When not logged in, the efficiency is decreased to about 50\%.
- Use your EXP Pouch for at least a day to receive the next level pouch. Accept the quest ‘[I Haven’t Done Anything] Get Next Level Pouches’ within the star event notifier to receive pouches that can store EXP for a longer period of time.
- Upon receiving a new pouch, you will be given a special gift along with the EXP that was accumulated in your previous pouch.
- Special gift can be obtained once per account.
- You can receive the EXP rewards by clicking the ‘Collect EXP’ button.

World Merges
UTC: August 28 (after maintenance)
- Did you hear? Our worlds are merging!
- A world merge is when several worlds are combined together into one new world so the players from each of those combined worlds can meet and play together in the same world.
- The first new world is called Elysium and includes Broa, Khaini, Galicia, Renegades, Arcania, Zenith, El Nido, and Demethos. The second new world is called Aurora and includes Windia, Mardia, Yellonde, Bellocan, Chaos, Kradia, and Nova.
- If you were in one of the affected worlds, you will now log in by choosing your new merged world at the World Select screen.
Character Slots
- The maximum character slot will be increased to 50 for all worlds after the world merge update.
- The character selection screen will display up to 50 characters - players who have a large amount of characters from multiple merged worlds and who exceed the max character count in the new world can open a special UI to select which of their characters they would like to display within the new world's character selection screen. Those players who have more than 50 characters must select 50 characters through this UI and start removing their characters until they have fewer than 50 characters. The 50 characters they choose will be displayed in the character selection screen and can be accessed normally, while their excess characters will be temporarily inaccessible.
- After these players remove some characters from their character selection screen, they will be able to access the newly added special UI again in order to select other characters to replace the ones they removed. This special UI will be provided after the world merge until January 2020.
- If players don't select the 50 characters that they wish to display on the character selection screen before the UI is removed in January 2020, only the highest-leveled 50 characters will appear on the character selection screen and players will have to remove characters to access the hidden characters.
- Prior to our world merge update, players in these merged worlds who have a large amount of characters are highly advised to begin removing their characters and consolidating their equipment so they can easily access all their characters later once the world merge is officially implemented.
- New worlds will have 8 free character slots by default, just like other worlds. If a player has 8 default character slots open for all Alliance worlds, this player will still have 8 free slots in the new world.
- If a player has 8 default character slots for all Alliance worlds and also has 10 additional slots that were opened by using character slot coupons, this player will have 18 slots open in the new world.
- Until January 2020, if you obtain any empty slots, a special UI will automatically pop up so you can select the characters you want to display on the character selection screen. After January 2020, the next highest leveled character will be automatically displayed. If you have more than 50 characters and want to create a new character, you have to remove your unused characters until the total number gets to 49.
- From the start of the world merge until January 2020, the daily limit for deleting characters will be raised from 5 to 10.
- Extra Character Slot Expansion Coupon will be on sale for 99 NX from after maintenance on August 28th until January 2020.
Legion
- The Legion Blocks and Presets previously set will be reset in new worlds.
- The data from the one world (out of the many merging worlds) that has the most progress will be applied to the new world.
- All the existing Legion Coins in the merging worlds will be combined.
- Lab Legion Blocks will carry over to your new world.
Guild
- Guild names are unique per world, which means when several worlds enter into a world merge, there may be some duplicate guild names.
- If there are any overlapping guild names, they will be renamed automatically by adding some random characters during the maintenance on August 28. The guild name should not exceed 12 characters in length. If your guild or guild alliance name was longer than this, it will be shortened to 12 characters. Guild and guild alliance leaders who were affected by the duplicated names will see a pop-up when they log in to MapleStory. This pop-up will allow the leader to change the name of the guild or guild alliance. Only the leader will receive the pop-up and this pop-up will be available from August 28 to January 2020. If the leader of your guild or guild alliance is no longer active in MapleStory, you should contact <a href="https://support-maplestory.nexon.net" target="_blank">Customer Support.
- Guild and guild alliance creation will be blocked from August 28 to September 8. You will not be able to create new guilds or guild alliances during this time.
Rankings
- The World Rankings will be re-calculated according to the rankings after the merge.
- The current ranking records for Mu Lung Dojo, Dream Defender, and Legion will be reset. It will be re-calculated sometime next week.
- Your current floor on Dream Defender and Legion level will not be reset.
Storage, Cash Shop, Monster Collection, Achievements, and Link Skills
- When exceeding the max meso value for Storage Room, the total amount of mesos in storage will be added together to a total of 29,999,999,999 mesos in Storage Room. Players are highly advised to move the exceeding mesos in the storage to the characters that they will keep so they can easily track their mesos. The exceeding mesos will be given separately as coins through the Gift Drop.
- When exceeding the max number of items in the Storage Room, the number of Storage Room slots in each world will be added up, only up to 128 max. Items exceeding the limit will be hidden, and these items can be displayed when withdrawing items from the slots. The players in these merging worlds who have a large amount of items in storage are highly advised to clean up their items so they can access all their items with ease after the world merge is implemented.
- If exceeding Storage slots have been purchased through the Cash Shop, players will be compensated accordingly. Please see below for the detailed compensation plan for the exceeding slots that have been purchased.
- When exceeding the max number of Cash Inventory items, items exceeding a certain amount will be hidden; hidden items will be displayed when a player withdraws the existing items.
- When exceeding the max number of Auction House slots, items exceeding a certain amount will be hidden; hidden items will be displayed when a player withdraws the existing items. If the players exceed the Buy and Sell slots, they'll have to move the exceeding items to the inventory to be able to buy and sell again.
- The Monster Collection data from the world that has more data will be brought to the new world. If you don’t like the data set that is applied to your new world, please contact our Customer Support team so we can swap the data set with the other world’s data after the merge. It will be helpful if you take a screenshot of your Monster Collection progress and share it with us when you ask for the data change.
- The completed achievements will be saved after the world merge. But due to the complexity of the data structure, there’s a chance that the saved achievements that are still in progress might not be the most up-to-date.
Character Slots and Storage Slot Refund
- Character Slot Expansion Coupon: Since the default number of free slots is 8, if the number of character slots that a player has is more than 50 (including 8 free slots), this player will get refunded in Maple Points for the exceeded amount.
- Storage Slot Expansion Coupon: Since the default number of free slots is 4, if the number of Storage slots that a player has is more than 128 (including the free slots), this player will get refunded in Maple Points for the exceeded amount.
- For example, if a player has exceeded the slot number by 10 and purchased 5, they will get refunded for 5 coupons with Maple Points. If they’ve exceeded by 10 and purchased 15, they will get refunded for 10 coupons with Maple Points.
- Only the character slots and storage slots that have been purchased from the Cash Shop will be refunded if the amount of slots exceed the maximum. But if you have unlocked your slots using free character slot coupons, the slots will be carried over to the new worlds (as long as the total slots are within 50).
- Maple Points will be refunded during our next scheduled maintenance.
Maple Rewards Shop
- The Maple Rewards Shop purchase limit will not be reset with the world merges. The reset will take place with the start of the next month following the merges.
- For August, players will only be able to purchase Maple Rewards Shop items within the monthly limit by August 27, when the world merge maintenance begins. The Maple Rewards Shop will be closed from August 28 until September 1. We recommend that players purchase all items they need before the world merge update begins.
Other
- Meso Donation King rankings will be re-calculated into Top 5 rankings based on the merged world.
- The character display order will be reset.
- Link Skill information will be reset.
- Due to the complexity of account-shared quests, there is a small chance that some quest progression may not be completely transferred during the merge.*

Mega Burning Event<a name="Mega"/>

Requirements: This event can only be started by characters created in Aurora or Elysium during the event period.*Pathfinder and Zero characters cannot participate in this event.*
Illium characters need to complete your Illium questline first before teleporting out of the area. Otherwise, you won't be able to get your 2nd job advancement properly.
- You can designate one Burning character and level it up to Lv. 150!
- Accept the quest ‘[World Merge Event] Reach Lv. 150 with 1+2 level ups during the Mega Burning Project!’ from the star event notifier on the left side of the screen to receive the rewards listed below.
- After creating a new character, you will be given an option to give it a ‘Burning’ effect.
- You cannot go back to give it a ‘Burning’ effect after refusing to do so during character creation.
- You can choose to Mega Burn one character per world.
- After your character reaches Lv. 10, they will begin to earn two additional levels every time your character gains a level up to Lv. 150.

- Upon accepting the quest, you will be given an EXP saving pouch. You can only accept the EXP saving pouch once per account.
- EXP accumulation is shared within the account. EXP is given proportionately according to the level of the character trying to collect EXP.
- EXP is accumulated in the EXP saving pouch up to certain hours depending on your EXP Pouch level. The Level 1 pouch can store EXP for 6 hours while the level 10 pouch can store EXP for 24 hours. When not logged in, the efficiency is decreased to about 50\%.
- Use your EXP Pouch for at least a day to receive the next level pouch. Accept the quest ‘[I Haven’t Done Anything] Get Next Level Pouches’ within the star event notifier to receive pouches that can store EXP for a longer period of time.
- Upon receiving a new pouch, you will be given a special gift along with the EXP that was accumulated in your previous pouch.
