Puerto Rico votes to become 51st state in U.S.
I'm a bit surprised this isn't bigger news. Yeah, it still needs Congress approval, but it's never been denied before, and they have almost all the rights as a U.S. citizen.
Quote:
Voters in Puerto Rico have supported a non-binding referendum to become a full US state.
The measure will require approval from the US Congress, but President Barack Obama has said he will respect the vote.

I'm confused. Peurto rico is becoming a state, said Rican is calling me stereotypical names for being american. He later becomes american which brings irony. I wouldn't have thought or considered rico being anywhere associated with the US at that point :f6:
Re: Puerto Rico votes to become 51st state in U.S.
US territories don't have voting rights iirc even though people there are full American citizens.
Pretty sure Puerto Rico and other territories would like that say: what are the benefits of being a territory anyway?
Inb4 US Flag manufacturers campaigning heavily against it because they probably have billions of flags that will be outdated and thus can't sell.

oh, i thought he called you a dumb american, or insults with the word "america", which are easily rebutted by telling him he's part of (continent) america

They don't pay U.S. taxes IIRC.

They pay taxes. Just not federal income.
Also Puerto Rico has, iirc, the lowest GDP per Capital. So I don't know if they're going to be accepted since it might be a financial burden.

Oh, politicians travel there all the time, I'm sure they would jump at the chance to get there even more easily :f3:.

@Worthyness;
Cool video. Only issue I had is that he said yesterday the first state had legalized gay marriage. There are currently 8 states with same-sex marriage.

Yes, I really enjoy watching the Vlog Brothers but also C.G.P. Grey when he actually posts videos.
