Nexon America visits MapleStory dev team
Quote:
Hi Maplers,
This is Jeff Charvat, Executive Producer at Nexon America.
I am in Korea with a few others from Nexon America visiting the developers of MapleStory. We are collaborating on how to improve the overall player experience of the game We had some ideas before we came to Korea and, working with the developers, we have come up with even better ideas.
Some of the ideas we have been discussing are based off your responses to €œA Better Maple€ while others are about process improvements enabling both parties to be more informed with the community€™s preferences and desires. We are also discussing resolving some of the bigger issues that currently exist (again based on your responses to €œA Better Maple€). We are all confident that these meetings will improve all of our experiences while enjoying MapleStory together.
Thanks for your continued support.
Jeff
Here's a pic of the MapleStory dev team members dedicated to the North American version:

Seems like they were really serious about that "A Better Maple" survey :f2:

I have a feeling someone will deliver :f3:
Re: Nexon America visits MapleStory dev team
That is very good to hear. :f2:
Re: Nexon America visits MapleStory dev team
and not a single beard was seen that day.
Liking that they are trying to make things better, instead of you know.. ignoring it.
Re: Nexon America visits MapleStory dev team
I wonder why they try so hard to keep this game alive(I mean they're going back in what was just a couple steps from being zynga)?
Would they closing their flagship hit them so bad they keep it running on the loss?
And to stop it from running on the loss they're trying everything even asking their player base and actually hearing?
Re: Nexon America visits MapleStory dev team
Probably discussing how to close maplestory 1 off when maplestor 2 comes out without a mob of death :f3:.
Seriously though, I'll remain skeptical until I see the improvements.

Wait, are there versions of MS that run on a loss?

I say the North American team should have made more frequent efforts to listen to their player base to begin with.. Something tells me either the GMS has been hard set to follow specific guidelines to achieve their goal, even if the goals aren't compatible with the player base, or NA Nexon staff go in/out of the company so fast there's not enough longevity to maintain decent service all around.. let alone moderation.. like the time the GMs were going ban happy on minor infractions........ Could also be a combination of both. I'm just speculating here.

I think I saw something about it if not then I'm confusing it with another game.
@ExtremeMonotreme Companies never like to hear to their consumers, just a few manage to pull out like they do and the ones that do usually are small and yes I do belive they have been set some guidelines by korea, mostly due to lazyness of the gMS team to check if some things added at korea would affect badly the NA playerbase (for example the divided cash shops) and there's also those changes they need to make here to try to reach a certain goal(like the non-permanet cash items and p2w stuff thats exclusive or was made for gMS first).

They're different games though. One is the 2d sidescroller we all know and love, and the other one is (probably) going to be a WoW clone.
I highly doubt they'll take Maplestory offline, though they might back off on updating the game as often.

The emote was there to show it was a sarcastic suggestion
Re: Nexon America visits MapleStory dev team
They went and met with the Dragon Nest developers too. So unless Nexon NA sent two different teams, I'm not entirely sure how much time was devoted to talking about either game.

EDIT: Oh wait, date tags on the photos indicate they were taken a day apart from each other.

The american community has always been kind of unique compared to korea though, so i think the game would benefit if korea had a solid perspective as to what our needs are.
