Guilty. Guilty. Guilty.
Of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse. Of indecent assault. Of endangering the welfare of children.
Guilty. Guilty. Guilty.
Of terrorizing the poorest and most vulnerable of this area's youth. Of abusing his fame as a former Penn State defensive coordinator. Of conducting a charade of charitable work to supposedly help children.
Guilty. Guilty. Guilty.
Forty-five times it rang out. Juror No. 4 hammered each one home with the independent force each one deserved.
...
It's about time this mess came to an end.

I never understood why courts sentenced people for over 100 years. Clearly they're serving life in prison....but 446 years?
Re: Jerry Sandusky Found Guilty on 45 Counts of Child Abuse
About time? It took ~8 months from the first announcement to him being found guilty. This may have been the fastest public trial of all time.

It's probably done to emphasize all the counts that he was guilty for. A similar thing like this happened in Bernard Madoff's sentence.
Re: Jerry Sandusky Found Guilty on 45 Counts of Child Abuse
I'm sorry what...446 years? Is anyone else serving anything higher than that?
And 45 counts? What the cookie.
Re: Jerry Sandusky Found Guilty on 45 Counts of Child Abuse
Its the fact years can be shaven off for good behavior or chance of parole etc etc. I'm not familiar with all of the options, but there are ways to lower the sentence so they exaggerrate the years.

They sentence him for each individual crime it just happens to end up that amount of years.

Wouldn't it make more sense to just say "life without parole"? I always thought that a sentence over 100 years was just silly, since nobody will ever outlive it, and even if they somehow did, they would be 120+ and even an infant could kick their ass.

I'm sorry but when does majority of our judicial system makes sense?

What if he is secretly immortal and lives past 446 years, oh god we are doomed.
But I'm honestly glad. This guy was a pretty good coach, but he was still twisted.

Apparently he's on suicide watch for the time being.
