As you know there were severe service interruptions on September 2 affecting all Nexon games and the Nexon website, which resulted in an extended maintenance period. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to you.
This was an unplanned interruption that occurred due to a catastrophic hardware failure at one of the facilities of our offsite servers. Fixing the problem required replacing and rebuilding a number of servers and unfortunately took most of the day.

The details for MapleStory are below.
- Cash items have been extended for the duration the game was down, as well as an additional 48 hours. This will now be correctly applied during the scheduled maintenance on September 4.
- The completion requirement for the Resurrection of Osiris event has been reduced from 14 to 13 days.
- We’ll be holding a 2x EXP & Drop event at the following times:
- Saturday, September 6 - Sunday, September 7, 2014
Pacific: 12 AM – 4 AM & 2 PM – 6 PM
Eastern: 3 AM – 7 AM & 5 PM – 9 PM
- All accounts created before September 1, 2014 will be able to receive an Epic Potential Scroll 100\% and a Pendant of the Spirit (3-day).
- To receive the items, click the gift box icon on the left side of the game window.
- You are limited to one of each item per account.
- You must have a Lv. 30 or above character to collect the Pendant of the Spirit.
- You must have a Lv. 80 or above character to collect the Epic Potential Scroll 100\%.
- You must log into the game between the following date and times to receive the items: <strong class="notice"/>
- Pacific: 12:00 AM Saturday, September 6, 2014 – 11:59 PM Friday, September 12, 2014
- Eastern: 3:00 AM Saturday, September 6, 2014 – 2:59 AM Saturday, September 13, 2014

The 2x was probably going to happen regardless, so all we got is a mediocre Hot Day box (with a week to collect it).
Quite cheap for such an extended outage, IMHO.

Looks like a moderately decent compensation, although I'd imagine some people might rage over not getting Maple Points since they had items that weren't extended and may have expired before the maintenance earlier today :f6:

They fixed that with today's maintenance. All my items got extended by the proper amount of time.
I wonder if the Epic Potential Scrolls will have an expiration date. I can always find uses for those. Then again there's always the storage option so I guess it doesn't really matter anyway.
And ugh, more 2x. I'm still massively overstocked from the last 2x, but okay, whatever you say Nexon.

I am of the opinion that we were not entitled to anything, especially if the downtime was beyond their control, although the 100% scroll is a nice surprise.

Sweet, my new cRA set could use some Epic pots. And between my account, my fiancee's, and the dozen or so accounts given to us by friends and family that quit, I think we'll have enough for all of our stuff. :P

Ok, I don't know what is worse.... the lag from the servers or the constant dc even BEFORE 2x....
It seems that instead that the problem with the servers is not fixed after all.

when exactly did they have time to "fix" the servers? all they did was bring the game online, after that massive monday madness. most of souther california didnt have internets.
and people begged for compensation. so, nexon is supposed to take the game down to actually fix server problems, and what... give more compensation? i think not. not if i was running things.
ill wait until tues/wed/thurs scheduled maintenance, do server stuff in background, the major stuff during down time, and shrugs. see wat happens. maplers beg for too much free stuff then complain how the game is pay 2 win. smh
YES. the lag is real, and many foreign IP are complaining about increased instability;

For anyone who hasn't been on yet, the Epic Potential Scrolls do not have an expiration date.
