Anyone know how to identify flowers?
Im trying to identify a flower so that I can make a painting for my friend. Two problems though, 1) I want it to be a surprise, and 2) I cant remember what the name of the flower is, but I am assuming that her facebook cover image is the flower.
So, anyone able to help out?

Re: Anyone know how to identify flowers?
What country is the flower from?
Re: Anyone know how to identify flowers?
Reminds me a lot of a Magnolia because the petals and, from what I can see, the leaves look very thick. However, I'm not sure.
Re: Anyone know how to identify flowers?
It's definitely not a magnolia. Magnolias don't have that cluster in the middle, and they're not six-petaled on the outside either.
It actually looks like a composite of two flowers, but hey, I'm not a botanist.
//edit: Hm, looks like the white kind of magnolia does have six petals on the outside. But that doesn't explain what appears to be a chrysanthemumlike... thing... stuck in the middle of it.

Seems magnolias dont have smaller leaves around the center.

Possible type of Protea? Maybe maybe maybe, maybe not?

Too many petals, too sharp.
Re: Anyone know how to identify flowers?
The centre part looks a bit like a dahlia, but I've not seen one exactly like that.
Re: Anyone know how to identify flowers?
place of origin would be helpful for identification since there's kind of a bajillion species of plants with white flower petals...

Know the name?
I'm leaning towards it being a hybrid with some kind of lily.
Re: Anyone know how to identify flowers?
I assume those are the leaves in the background apply to the flower. It limits the search by a lot if it is.

If you mean the green in the very back, behind the second flower, then I would assume the same.

Google Image search to the rescue:

Clematis Florida Sieboldii. Ignore the page title, imo.
