Man has stroke, wakes up gay
Link
Quote:
When 19-stone rugby player Chris Birch suffered a stroke during a freak accident, his life was transformed - but not in a way that anyone could have predicted.
When he regained consciousness, the 26-year-old – who was engaged to his girlfriend at the time – found his sexuality had completely altered.
'The Chris I knew had gone and a new Chris sort of came along. I came to the realisation that the stroke had turned me gay,' he said.
He is now the subject of a BBC3 documentary, chronicling his attempt over the past few months to make sense of his new identity.
My favourite part of this is that he used to be buff, straight, rugby playing, motorbike loving and then suddenly he became attracted to guys and is now effeminate, slimmed down and a damn hairdresser.
There is "coming out of the closet" and then there is this. He was obviously latent homosexual before this, i can't believe someone would spin such a story to come out, it's ridiculous.

What is this I dont even?

Re: Man has stroke, wakes up gay
It's not necessarily bullpomegranate.
People's minds can be fundamentally changed with a stroke.
Quote:
Depending on the area and side of the cerebrum affected by the stroke, any, or all, of the following body functions may be impaired:
movement and sensation
speech and language
eating and swallowing
vision
cognitive (thinking, reasoning, judgment and memory) ability
perception and orientation to surroundings
self-care ability
bowel and bladder control
emotional control
sexual ability

Just saying, it's possible.
And no, I'm not implying that homosexuality is a mental defect. It's simply how one's brain is wired. Compare this to stories of people that have stokes or other brain injuries and suddenly have newfound artistic ability. http://www.cracked.com/article_19504...-injuries.html

Re: Man has stroke, wakes up gay
i agree with raul on this one. not saying it's what happened, but it can be possible.
-
Re: Man has stroke, wakes up gay
Bizarre but totally possible.

Re: Man has stroke, wakes up gay
Oh man I see it now;
Zelous religious figure: LOL GAYS CHOOSE TO BE GAY, YOU GUYS ARE JUST FUC`KED UP
-get's bonked on the head by offended homosexuals-
Zelous religious figure: Oh hay babeh
That's right bi`tch. CONVERSION BY VIOLENCE.
...Wait does that mean it has the opposite effect as well? Oh god did I open a can of worms qq

Re: Man has stroke, wakes up gay
I know it's POSSIBLE, the brain is a wonderful and crazy thing, but it just doesn't seem right that because he was attracted to guys, he suddenly lost interest in sports and motorbikes, turned effeminate and became a hairdresser.
That just doesn't fit well with me at all, it implies that all gay guys are girly and all straight guys are manly bruisers, and that a change in your sexual preference will change your entire lifestyle and mannerisms. He seems far too concerned with comparing his new and old lives, saying he had pictures which "Proved" he used to be straight.

I don't think that was the intention. I think it was on the lines of trying to emphasize the change in appearance, personality and interests. Gay doesn't automatically default to "girly", it's honestly that Gay man can be more feminine, creative and more involved with their appearance.

Sounds like someone needs a hearty dose of Jesus Christ.

Can Jesus give people strokes? if he can, then Jesus IS the cure for being gay.

This would support the hypothesis that he was stronger in the right hemisphere of the brain before the stroke and then was stronger in the left afterwards, triggering not only increased attraction to other men but increasing creativeness, empathy, and introspectiveness.

Re: Man has stroke, wakes up gay
This seems kind of ridiculous to me and I feel its more of a step backwards than forwards. That's too bad if he is telling the truth, but like what Razmos said, the whole "ooooh I'm now so girly" part throws me off.

Not all gay's are left brain, it's a stereotype, but stereotypes always stem from somewhere because there's truth within those stereotypes. My dad love's tits, very logical, but he also can cook a mean meal and match clothes/colors better than my mother.

Not necessarily left-brain-dominant, but at least have some left-brain tendencies.

Re: Man has stroke, wakes up gay
This is weird, but I can understand how this happened. Strokes do indeed do strange things to people in certain situations.

Which could be applied to your example as well. Homosexuals tend to be left brain, that doesn't necesarily mean flowers and dresses is my point.

Re: Man has stroke, wakes up gay
Sounds like he's just using the stroke as an excuse to come out.
