Elastic Constant of an Aluminum Tether
Hello, I have a problem that I am having a bit of difficulty with. I am trying to find the elastic constant of a tether for a report that I am writing, but the site that I went to did not say what it's k value was. I know the length of the tether, aswell as the cross-sectional area so I thought, "Well, let's see if there is some way to find a k value!"
I went to a few sites so far and found that aluminum (the material I am looking at) has a k value of 1.163E+11 N/m^2. The thing is, the k value I know of is in N/m.
So, what I am asking is, to find the k value of the tether in question do I multiply the k value of the material by the cross-sectional area and divide by the length? Everywhere I have went to so far has not given me anything. And if there is a formula, can you tell me the name of it aswell? Since I would need that for the report also.
