View Full Version : While we're waiting for Nexon to figure out the PQ glitch
I went back and re-explored some of the other content in this new patch. I took a glance this morning, but I went back and decided to train at Nightshadows for a few minutes. Holy crap, a good training spot where Flamethrower is actually useful. Got 1.5% with a Warrior Elixir, which amounts to 10.5%/hr at 117. I bet if I could figure out a better way to take the map, it would be as good as Newties for 11x Outlaws who maxed FT.

You can see it's pretty mobby.
Biggest grip is that Nightshadows are Ice-immune, so instead of going nuts with the FT/Ice combo, you have to drop an FT as mob control and then Burst Fire at least once. Takes a bit of skill, what with FT's low range taking you dangerously close to whacking range. If you get within whacking range, you waste time and you'd be better off spamming Burst Fire. Once we get the KMS skill updates, this shouldn't be a problem.
I think I'll try it tomorrow with my 11x CB friend and an HS mule and report on the exp rate. It beats a lot of other training spots at the level, and while Newties may still be better, this is definitely a great spot during 2x. It'll probably be even better at 12x, and once I can 2-3 hit I probably won't need FT either.
Edit: Oh, I forgot to mention, pot cost is pretty low compared to Newties as well. And this gives you a lot of opportunities to get that GM 1h sword scroll.

i went here on a 142 hero w/ *almost* a 2hko (2 brandish + rush = almost always dead) and found about 5-6 badges in 20 minutes. the xp rate is crap for me compared to skele or keep gate cgs, but i found 19 badges total before this patch while actually hunting for them for several hours.
this is a great spot. but by the time you 2-3hko, it doesnt seem very mobby any more.

Because Blank Shot is completely worthless except on the occasion that you want to snipe an unfreezable monster that would own you if it was unstunned, or if it would cast Weapon Cancel (Crimson Guardians and Goby Houses). Your Octopi and Gaviota can deal a significant amount of damage and are very useful in a small, clustered map like this. Both summons unstun.
If you want to make use of Blank Shot, you have to give up both summons. I'm not ready to do that until I can 2-hit, at which point I'd probably move on to Skeles, as pointed out by modular. Oh, and why bother stunning if I could kill that fast anyway?
Right now it takes me ~5 hits per Nightshadow, usually takes 3 actual Bursts when I mix in all the summon jazz and occasional FTs.

OH, and another thing. Blank Shot stuns three, which is unhelpful against a mob of 6 Nightshadows. They're super slow anyway. Protip: Gunslingers suck. Outlaws are leaps and bounds better. Invisible shot, which was ironically a godsend in 2nd job, becomes entirely useless for both damage and mob control once you max Burst and get 7 Ice. Grenade was already useless but for very occasional luring, and Blank Shot just barely passes the "is this skill useful enough for me to keep it on my key settings?" test. It's going to go when I begin making room for 4th job.

im not recomending the new windraider map for mauraders :\ the spawn overall is a lot weaker than lower ascent, which is kinda sad, I dont think any of them will be good for brawlers, even the CG room didnt seem to have as much as CWK Gate.

You have to remember the driving force behind pure spawn maps were for easier medal collecting. At least thats what I think Nexon said.

I wish they would have changed the layout a bit (kind of the like the 1st gaurdians map) and added more spawn. The maps aren't really that mobby :f7:

Replacing lower ascent isn't necessary, but more of them are. At the very least, just take out the stormbreakers because they're a pain in the ass for most players who train there.

You should play a different game since you fail at this one and don't know training w/ Bishops is better exp then soloing.

Well, they didn't make Genesis because they intended everyone to follow a Bishop around.
In any case, some of us are stupid enough to believe that third job is more than just an obstacle to fourth job, and would prefer to train ourselves once in a while. I don't care that Newties has Bishops; I like this change of scenery.

Spawn is improved massively when 2 people are in the map, I was getting 8-9 spawning on the top while I cleared the bottom cause some other Hermit came in to watch.
Though as 8x I kill a little slower than a 11x would.

I don't care, go for it, knock yourself out. Just because you don't like the way I train, doesn't mean you have the right to bomb me and tell me to play a different game(Aimed toward modular). If you don't like the fact I like grinding and getting EXP faster, then hop off my python and worry about your own character. Cause honestly, I don't give a shit where you train. I was talking about myself, not you. Hop off.

Just watching increases the spawn that much? I wonder how fast killing would be.

I never noticed I guess. I always though Maps had a max number of spawn and spawn points.
I thought the respawn rate of the monsters is faster because you have 2 people killing.

They do have a fixed number of spawn points. But they also have a spawn limit that can change with the number of people in the map.
Take Hoodoos - they have 4 spawn points and 4 monsters are allowed to spawn in there at once, so if all of them are killed, they'll all respawn again in the same 4 positions. This, though, doesn't change if there are more people in the map because no matter what, there still are only 4 spawns.
Voodoos, on the other hand, have 6? spawn points, but normally only 4 are allowed to spawn when one person is there. This accounts for the seemingly more 'random' spawn there compared to Hoodoos, since there are more spawn positions than actual spawning monsters. But, if you bring a couple of friends, you can get all 6 to spawn at once.

I was tearing up that map with every skill i had at my disposal. Air Strike is an absolute godsend in there. You can hit any one of them from the bottom if theyre on your screen. Cannons, Torpedos, AirStrikes, Flamethrowers, Burstfires, Gaviotas, RecoilShots; Anything i could do to pump out damage while avoiding being touched. A very fun place for Corsairs to kill.

It's not extreme exp, especially with lvl 1 airstrike (possible use for higher airstrike? *contemplates*). But it's definitely fun, and the nightshadow badges are the bonus of being there. I'll see if i can pay more attention to my % next time. (was lvl 121, will be 123 when i try again)

9-10 can spawn naturally at the top, 5 on each side (saw this when an AM came in, he didn't kill anything either), and about 10 more on the bottom, if you give it some time. More typical was 6-7 on top/bottom, 3-4 on sides, when I was training.
It's just that usually they're not respawning quickly enough for the full number to appear. Bring someone ind and it seems to double the respawn rate.
I guess I didn't mention exp rate before, I'm sticking around 24-25%/hr at 87, only using 17 Avenger (max dmg ~3500 with SP due to def+level, I could hit over 5k on snails). If there's less than 3 with a decent hp left, I just go to a different area, I only L7 stragglers that are 1-2hko.

Lol, I was letting my hero friend leech me at this map while he was collecting badges. Of course it was pretty crap exp, but not THAT bad for a hero leeching u and no HS. When he had 50 badges he went to exchang and got the 1h sword GM scroll on first try. :shine: Man he's lucky. :f4:
