ok, i have several questions to post, so i made this thread


K, i thought of many things to take in mind when i create a new character.


when yellonde comes out (waits for groans) im going to make an xbowman.

Questions:

Is arrow blow a better idea since it uses less mp?

Is going strless for awhile good to save money?

What armors are completly neccesary?

When should i use 2x exp, if i buy it (what level)



And finally, is this decision smart?

This can probably go into the Ask A Bowman Thread, but I'll try to answer your questions anyway.

1. It's your choice, but I think the mp cost is negligible, even more so with how cheap mp is nowadays (supreme pizza/sorcs).
2. Unlike lukless mages, archers don't really save any money because of how the damage is calculated. The int mages get is = to the matt boost from their weapons so they can save the money from getting better weapons, but dex gets a lower and lower ratio to att as archers level. Therefore, not only do you get less of a boost, you still need to get better weapons if you want to keep up. I do see its benefit in allowing you to decide your base str at a later level, according to the funds you have accumulated by then.
3. Not completely necessary, but common ones are 100% dex bathrobe, at least 100% dex bowman overalls lv 50+(unless you get str top/dex bottom), scrolled weapons starting from 50ish, zakum helmet, and at least 6-8 atk gloves.
4. Back then, 6x and 7x were the "hell levels"..but not so much anymore with all the new pq's and training spots. So just get one if you want a boost, if you want to stack for 4x, etc.
5. Again, your choice.

Arrow blow fails. Double shot does more damage so there's no point in getting it.

Strless is a good way to save money for now though "godly" strless weapons are expensive (but as are non-strless).

Armours completely necessary? Look in my "What to buy" guide Here (http://www.southperry.net/forums/showthread.php?t=268) What's really needed is a 3 dex green bamboo hat and 10 dex bath/sauna robe.

When to buy 2x? Any time you want. I personally got 2x from 99-110, then 111-121 but I know most people start early.

As for is it smart, it depends on how fast you're able to train. Some people can do 1-40 in 1-2 days. For you it might take a month. Its really all in perspective to your personal situation... which brings up the question... why are you restarting anyways, rofl.

1) When GMS finishes getting the Skill updates, ArrowBlow will have only 10% less average damage than DoubleShot, higher minimum damage (Lower Max), with a high KB rate, and slightly lower MP cost.

2)Saves you money, and gives you more damage until later. Just 100% your Maple Items for now.

3)100%'d Bathrobe and a Green Bamboo if you're really poor. Get the 50+ Overalls because they add more Dex, and they look good =)

4) 2x is usually better when you're in a slump. No need to buy it when you're still training hard.

Actually, if you take out the psychological aspect, it doesn't matter at all when you buy 2x.
Say, for example, level 40-50 takes 30 hours of training and 50-60 takes 50 hours.
Say at level 40 you buy 24 hours of 2x. That counts as 48 hours of training, so you need 32 hours more to get to level 60. 24+32 = 56 hours from 40-60.
Then say you choose to save it until level 50, since 50-60 takes longer. You spend 30 hours of 1x training on 40-50, then use 24 hours of 2x. That counts as 48 hours of tarining so you only need 2 hours more to get to level 60. That's 30+24+2 = 56 hours from 40-60.
Depends, though. You're going to want it when it makes the biggest difference in your motivation.

As for armors, it isn't completely necessary, but a 100% speed shoe would help a lot compared to its price.

We already got the Arrow Blow update. Its 290% at max now.

290 + 100*.4 = 330%
2*(130 + 100*.4)=340%

So AB is only 10% less with a higher knockback (for all the damage being in 1 shot), along with slightly less MP

I swear we only got level 19's upgrade though.. Was it .57?

*edit* I just tested on my Hunter, Arrow Blow is still 260% at max. With a War Bow my minimum should have been 298 (On Blue Snails), but I did a 260.

1. No. Arrow Blow will never be better than Double Shot. Double shot has more max damage. Both of them will be useless when you have strafe anyway, even if it's cool to say you get some more knock back.

2. I would just go normal strength the whole time. It's not like bowman are very expensive in a new server any way.

3. The armors that are completely necessary are the bath robe (370k to make) and a Green Bamboo hat (avaliable from KPQ). When you get to level 30, save up Maple Coins for all your (x)bows and save up for a pendant.

4. When you get to level 51, you should get 2x EXP. You are done with the Monster Carnival, which is the fastest EXP ever you get from 3x-50.

5. Yes, I might be biased, but it still great.:wink:
