View Full Version : Recovering your birthday.

Well, I'm trying to buy a name change (yeah, too bad, Isaac). However, in order to purchase it, I have to give it my birthday code. When I started playing... 2 and a half years ago, I wasn't old enough to play (lolz), so, being a stupid whatever year old, I entered fake information. Now I can't get it back. Does anyone know a way to get my birthday back...?

I"m trying to get the email I recieved and sent from Nexon, maybe my birthday will be there somewhere. Their FAQ is no help:
(We will have no way to verify that this is truly your account) If you can verify that you have a case of amnesia, we might reconsider. =) Consider all bogus accounts lost and useless.

...hmm...not that i know of.. Sorry. Maybe you could try to send nexon a ticket?

Log a ticket, but I wouldn't use that story if I were you when logging a ticket. There's no guarantee that they'll give you the birthday you signed up with anyhow.

I checked my email, the birthday I signed up with was (censored). But it says i entered my birthday incorrectly when I enter that. I'm going to log a ticket. D:

Ticket Logged:

Well, I recently charged $10 to purchase a name change. When I attempted to purchase it, however, I was met with a block. I needed to enter my birthday code. According to emails I have received from your staff, the birthday I signed up with was (Censored). As you know, this is not my real birthday. When I signed up, I was just below the age of 13, which was 2 and a half years ago. So I signed up with that birthdate. However, when I enter (Censored) into the security-check thing, it says the information is incorrect. If that's the birthday I signed up with, how is it incorrect?

Could you please help me with this? If you need confirmation that the account is mine...

Username: censored
password: censored
Security Question 1: censored
Characters: censored

Thanks.

Of course, I editted out all person information.

Status of ticket: Open

There ya go. (Is the charictars your pin?)

No, it asks for an 8-digit birthday code, and it's not accepting mine. Be right back, checking ticket again. (Like they've responded...)

EDIT: They haven't responded! xD Nice job, Nexon, keep holding that reputation.

More like a conversation between Will and myself, in which he attempts to help me. I think.

How'd you get your name change? Did you know your birthday?! :O

Nexon won't give out any hints/answers whatsoever. You should've wrote down your account info or at least just change the year. >_>;
Good luck getting your birthday code.

And Alex, if you try to charge with PayByCash, it will show you what E-mail you signed up with.

Sorry for the bump, it's an update! :O

I only got my name because I tried to log a ticket (it tells you your name). I signed up with a fake name too. xD

Anyone, update on my ticket:

Greetings,

I'm sorry Ian, but I will not be able to give the account information you requested. It is our policy not to give account information to users due to security reasons. Please remember, you are required to enter valid information during registration. It is your responsibility to remember your account information.

Additionally, the birthdate that you have submitted is incorrect from what I see on file.

Sincerely,

GM Crash
Nexon America, Inc.

For security reasons any sensitive account information has been made private.

Fact - GM Crash has a Zombie plan. Do you?

Please do not give your password or pin number to anyone for any reason.
Nexon representatives will NEVER ask you for your password or pin.

What now?

Nothing you can do. I entered a fake Last name and logged a ticket too. I got the same(almost) response.

But there's something you can do about that. Log in, and go to support. IT says your name somewhere, in the place where you log a ticket.

Is my only option to... brute force? D:

I would understand why Nexon would not give you your birthday details though - since with the same information (your birthday), you will be able to delete your own character with it.

And I know very well when my account was hacked in Khaini, the person who was in my account wanted to delete my character which unfortunately he failed to know when/what my birthday was

Brute forcing sounds nice, but I think you'll live with your current IGN... :f3: - Not that it's the end of the world right?

Sorry to say but, you probably aren't going to get a name change. The birthdate is one of the key things. >___> :f4:

I can't get into my account information with that last name, it could be my secret Q though. Anyway, what do you mean by Brute forcing?

Brute forcing is using a macro (program that does something automatically for you) and having it guess all the possible combinations until it reaches the correct one.

Hopefully, I won't get banned for saying this, but I'm coding a birthday cracker that should get my birthday as we speak. (Eat Perl, Nexon!)

Nexon is a shitty company that uses copypasta from their manuals to answer detailed questions. Usually, they do not properly answer the question being asked. The very idea of using your birthday as a security question is stupid because everyone who knows you in Maple will eventually find out your birthday, (because on your birthday you'll tell them,) and that'll create a security risk for you.

The best thing to do, (with future accounts,) is to properly randomize all information and put it all down in your private e-mail account. Your Maple ID should be words and letters, (Yil789 or something,) the birthday should be your brother or cousin's, the security question should be unguessable, and your password should be "strong," (see my sticky in General Maplestory for how to do that.)

Well people. I guess th taught you a lesson of never lie about anything.

If you really HAVE to lie to play the game, just put like your real B-Day and the exact amount to be exactly 13. In this case, 1995 xD.

Okay?

Yeah, I'd stay away from writing the truth on that sort of thing. My account's information is near random, and while I can't win some competitions on it, it does make my account more secure.

I registered another account using my real info (it's just used as a mule atm) and that one gets to enter contests (eg art) where things like real name and location would be significant, but character is not. I don't mind winning contests on an ign/id nobody will recognize, and if I win Maple Points I have a history of spending them on gachapon anyway.

Yeah, I'm sorta stuck in the same rut as you. Can't delete characters, can't CR, and the potential of getting hacked just scares me 'cause I wouldn't be able to recover anything.

When it comes to the online games that I'm trying, I usually go for a fake birthday that I would always remember. A good choice would be either a family's birthday or a close friend of yours.

To the thread starter, grats on recovering your birthday!

P/S: 1976... lol :f7:

I've been doing the shit manually, and still can't find my damn birthday. It sucks not being able to buy certain things, or delete characters.

I did a fake birthday thing on one of my maple accounts and well, I don't use that one anymore (to play on). Good thing the characters on it haven't gone very far. Well, it's another account full of mules that I can use? :D
