View Full Version : The New Iron Arrow

In Patch 0.56, IronArrow got a little upgrade. Other than being stronger at lower levels, the multiplier seems to have been reduced from .82, to .9
New Iron Arrow:
Min: 180->162->145->131->118->106
Avg: 220->198->178->160->144->129
Max: 280->252->226->204->183->165
Old Iron Arrow:
Min: 180->147->121->99->81->67
Avg: 220->180->148->121->99->82
Max: 280->230->188->154->127->104
IA to AB is now:
#| Bomb | Iron |
1| .56% | 220% |
2| 238% | 418% |
3| 420% | 596% |
4| 602% | 756% |
5| 784% | 900% |
6| 966% | 1029% |

This is what we've been observing. We're pretty sure its 90%, but more testing can't hurt.

Seeing as how my personal tests made me point to a 1.2 or so Multiplier, I like this one :f2:

That and that we're each in the three oldest servers (Scania, Bera, Broa).

Let me be the bowmaster to post then!
To my knowledge, beserk was fixed to 45% yet the skill says otherwise so I'd see no indication to why this would be different. If I were to guess without doing tests, it'd be that its switched but still saying the old skills (like PKB, MB and other skills too).

This has nothing to do with what they're talking about, but okay...
Anyways, I feel that more testing is required, just because I want you guys to do more work.

Oh? what I was saying was that because the other skills got a change, so I'll assume that IA got a change as well, meaning you dont have to do the math yourself but can rather refer to what changes KMS got and just assume we got the same. Sorry if I didnt make myself clear.

The only change that you'd be able to notice in the skill window (If they got that thing updated at least), is the damage %'s being raised at lower levels. IA never had the damage reduction listed in the Skill Window.

today i was using Iron Arrow level 1, the description says it uses 14 mp, but it seems to be changed to 23 mp...
i don't know about higher levels of IA, but i could get the data if you wanted (when i level my xbow more)

MP cost changed from level 1~30. Max is still *alt tabs* 28 =)

Bomb does 50% impact. Meaning the average impact damage is 70%, not 56%. Still, this hardly makes a difference on Iron Arrow's now clearly superior damage. *Is disappointed*
Russt

Arrow Bomb used to be superior before the change, and by a wider margin than this too.

As far as 2nd job was pretty even.
IA > DS on mobs of 2+, so there's an advantage right there.
AB > IA on mobs of 5(barely 5) and 6.
Now all AB has is the stun =/

And all hunters can now pat themselves on the back knowing that Arrow Bomb has the lowest percent chance of stunning out of all skills used for stunning, seeing as how all the infighter skills which stun do so at a 100% rate. (This really pisses me off for some reason.)

I dunno, it still stunned pretty well in 2nd job. It does fail in 3rd job though, but Inferno replaces it anyway (if you maxed it). At least Inferno doesn't get beaten by the new Iron Arrow:
1 - 190%
2 - 380%
3 - 570%
4 - 760%
5 - 950%
6 - 1140%
Comes awfully close though. A second job skill outdamaging a 3rd job skill on neutral mobs of 3 or less? I'm kind of upset as well. Either buff Arrow Bomb and Inferno, or buff Inferno, or make more of our bows Fast 5, or something. Snipers already own Rangers in 3rd job, and now Xbowmen own Hunters in 2nd job. 4th job is debatable so I won't go into that; you can go on about how we're better at bossing but I have reasons to envy Marksmen as well.
Russt
2008-07-19, 08:05 PM
Well, Strafe almost beats both of them if they hit 3, so it barely makes a difference.
They should buff Inferno, though. Burn effect, anyone? It wouldn't have to be anything fancy. Just 5-10% of the skill damage percent per second, or so.
(It'd only make a difference if it could actually kill monsters, unlike poison which brings them down to 1. Ew.)

Yeah, reduced. Reduced as in, the damage that is reduced, is lower. Smaller damage taken off, hence the multiplier was reduced.

Nonono, the damage and multiplier cannot both reduce at the same time because they're in an inverse relationship. As the multiplier goes up, the damage reduced goes down. I think you confused yourself in your wording.
Kevvl
2008-07-20, 12:07 AM
I still say Lowered, because I consider it .18 reduced from damage, rather than .82 of your damage;
But I digress.
Russt
2008-07-20, 12:15 AM
But the multiplier is .9, which is an increase from .82.
You can say the decrease was reduced. You can't say the multiplier was reduced.
Ex. an item on sale that used to be 30% off is now 20% off
You can say the discount was reduced. But you can't say the price was reduced.

Well, Hawk can only hit one at a time, and it's harder to get it to hit the one you specifically want. I like to use bomb to stun a large group and then move forward while strafing to finish up with Rain. That might sound a little bit weird but it works well against Wolf Spiders (because of the map shape. >_>)
Additionally I hate how Dragon Breath is the only "pushback" move which doesn't work on bosses, even though we're the only ones who have such a move that actually need to keep mobile bosses away from us.

It's because people don't read it as it is. Read it as: .90
Also, what were all the bowman nerfs?
Because I've got a level 21 Bowman, and like, I've always wanted a Hunter. But if the damage is lower, I'll probably edge towards xBowman.

The speeds became equal for shooting (bow pickup speed is still faster). DS, AB, and IA were changed so that they are stronger eariler (but are the same final value).

If inferno needs a buff, i think adding a "burn" effect to it (again-I seem to recall an effect similar to a burn effect in the old days-) would make it all the more attractive to many people. I would use it more if it had a burn effect too =P
Make it like the Pirate's burn capsules?
Technolink
2008-08-25, 09:36 PM
WAAAY back when (idk, patch .13? It was before 3rd job, ludi, nath, and guilds).
The burn effect would be a great incentive for inferno. Even if it isn't that high damage, it'd still be enough to push it right over the edge on neutral mobs. Now the I/L burn effect just makes it weak to Ice right? That's no good for rangers xD
Russt
2008-08-26, 05:34 AM
Before 3rd job? Inferno? -waves hand back and forth-
Ice Demon makes it fire-weak, Fire Demon ice-weak. Think of it this way. ID chills them, so fire feels hotter. FD heats them up, so ice feels colder.

You'd think they learned their mistake when they finally Tespiaed 3 patches in a row without ANY flaws upon opening (mistake being not to test), then CWK comes out and its glitched up the arse.
Just shows, they need this user input. Even if 80% of the Tespians are just messing around/testing damage formulas, people are still reporting bugs. Like someone would have said "Hey, even with 100x drop or w/e, its still pretty rare to get those badges", or "The pot shop in fucked up", or "DB screws you over" or "puppet screws you over", or "BF is glitched like hell"
