Is it broken?
I added MR to my Bishop when I leveled today (Level 135, MR level 4 now).
I hopped into some Newties to test it out, it said 34% success rate. I stood there and got m.atk'd about 25 times, give or take a couple. Not ONCE did the skill activate (Yes I had the buff cast). Is there some problem with the skill that doesn't make it work?
My 163 I/L AM friend said he didn't notice it happen once during his 2x card at Newties (Level 10 MR) either. Perhaps it doesn't work with certain magic attacks? No idea. Maybe we're both just crazy. :f6:
I tried this too, doesn't seem to work on Newties. But it's not so bad considering all the other attacks that do seem to work on Mana Reflection. Even Gatekeeper's attack and Fishy's weights affect Mana Reflection...

Newties' attacks are ranged physical attacks. Mana reflection only works on magic attacks (yeah, strangely enough, pianus's weights are apparently magical).

Newties attacks are physical, as I found out personally while I was collecting data for my guide.
And what the heck? Pianus' weights are not supposed to be magical... :f6:
In fact, I don't see a halved damage on bishops and priests. If you're seeing a damage cut, it's likely that its due to the fact that they probably have invincible on.

Pianus's weights attack is a neutral magic attack. Invincible only protects from physical attacks, and elemental resistance only protects from magical fire/poison/ice/lightning/holy attacks =]
Skelegons' laser beam is another example of this.

Okay thanks, makes more sense now. I didn't think about it being a ranged physical attack.
Doesn't feel like a waste of SP anymore xD.

At your level, there are better things to up than Mana Reflection. That's just my opinion and you may have a different priority for your skills however.

I'm putting it up to 10. I have absolutely no love for my Bishop as I hate people buying and selling leech all the time, and whenever I'm on my bishop I'm spammed by people buying leech and can't train in peace. I've stuck Genesis at 15 and I plan on saving points from 140 to 145 to max it (I'll never afford Gen 30 anyways). I've got AR at 20 and I'll be leaving it there for a while, it's decent enough now to solo Pap. I don't like Bahamut much because he just causes unwanted aggravation.
I just use my Bishop to help out friends and to go to bosses, so Mana Reflection to me is a logical choice.
Edit: It's gear sucks and I don't care much about it's damage, I'm putting all of my funding into my CB and (almost) Paladin.
Try Holy Shield? If you want to help your buddies, Holy Shield would be much better. Save your friends some All Cure, and receive 40 seconds of laziness.

Doesn't holy shield actually suck and only prevent seduce or something? Or is that another skill? I dunno. I guess having LolBishop as my "Job:" wasn't enough.

That's "Free will" / "Hero's will" or whatever.
Holy Shield is Dispel for lazy Bishops
