Speculation has a "love-hate" relationship with people, you can either sit around speculating, intelligently or just say, "Lets wait for whenever they release it." I however love to speculate, and love so see what other people post. From their ideas to how they refute certain things others speculate.
So, I decided to start this thread. We we can all sit here and speculate the release of this new, interesting class or refute each others ideas with your own. Sounds like a good time, right?
Okay, let me get things started.
----------------------------------------
It started on June 12th, GMS Tespia just went live. Most people couldn't get in, but it was open for extraction. And that's exactly want happened. Fiel worked on an amazing thread posted on Sleepywood with everything added into GMST. We got over 120 MB's of new data! What could all this mean? Well, this was the first appearance of Pirate Data to our version, and most of us are excited.
So, we went along, waiting for the dreaded 25 hour Patch to end. If seems that after the patch, there was a new encryption. That did stop Fiel, he went along doing what he likes and posted his results shortly after. Most of us were extremely happen with the results of the longest patch we've ever had. We have most of the Pirate data! Or, at least a good majority of it. We have Skills, Guns, Knuckles, Armor. I'm not exactly sure, but I believe there were some maps added. Granted, some of the stuff isn't translated, but still! That's amazing, all this stuff in one patch. Most of us were thinking:
Is Nexon getting ready for something?
Most of us just passed thing, didn't think anything of it. They used the fact that we had Leafre in our data since what? Ver. .35? No, this didn't convince me. I see these two things as completely different. Here's what I was thinking:
Leafre
What is this place? Most of us know it as 4th Job Advancement area. That's exactly what it is. 4th job is level 120, this can only cater to the small group of people that actually were 120+. It took me 1 and a half years to reach 120. That's a long time for most people, this area wasn't meant for the whole community of Maple. This is probably the main reason we didn't get Leafre and 4th job until January of this year.
Pirates
What exactly is this? It's a brand new freaking class. This can cater to everyone that plays MapleStory. EVERYONE. It's not just for level 100+ people to train on, or another level 20-30 Party quest. This gets the people that have been playing Maple for the past 2-3 years excited that we're getting something such as a new class. Also, for new users, that's just 1 more class to chose from. As far as I see it, Nexon has NO REASON to delay an update such as this. You do not need to be a certain level to do this, or any sort of experience playing the Game. It's simply a new adventure into another class. Amazing.
That's simply my idea, in general, on the whole Pirate release. And I think it's pretty good. But, by no means is this the end of everything. We've always wondered, as a community: "Is this a hint?", as we stare at the things posted on the Nexon website and within their forums.
May 28th-
The first thing that could be considered a hint would be this:
http://msfile.nexon.net/Uploaded/Img/common/post/20080528/080528_bug_01.jpg
Oh, look. A Pirate NPC. And yeah, isn't that the Bird from the Gunslinger job? It definitely is.
June 20th-
The day of the patch, this was posted and not many thought of it. I did though:
http://msfile.nexon.net/Uploaded/Img/common/post/20080620/080619_summer_01.jpg
Hay!! Look! It's the 4th job, Captain summon. Also, as Isaac said, it's a Map Object in Nautilus port. Hm, could this be another hint?
June 26th-
And finally, the most recent:

That happens to be the dock for the entrance of Nautilus port.

Okay, lets take a look at this since I forgot:

If you look carefully, you can see that Pirate, Viper and Captain at added into the Job selection window. Really, could this be a mistake? Or another hint(lol). Who knows, but it's just something to add onto the growing speculation.
Wonderful, 3 different event ads with Pirate related Sprites in them. What could this mean? Most of use used this defense, as did I when the first Ad was posted on May 28th:
"Nexon has access to multitudes of sprites and pictures from Slimes to a Fork on a Stick. Why not use them if it fits the theme of the event? Right, the Telescope the NPC is using definitely fits into the theme"
Alright, I said the same thing when this was released, and 5 million threads poped up speculating the release of Pirates, so many of us brushed this off. But, I was thinking. Pirates have been released for awhile, why just start using the Sprites/Objects now? Then I thought legal reason. Yeah, that sounds completely reasonable. So, I brushed off this first thing like I said.
Then, what do you know. June 20th we get another event ad, and it has the Octopus in it. Sweet, another hint? I'm not sure, It does fit the theme quite well. But still. Maybe another hint, right?
Fine, we get the most recent event ad, which is June 26th's. Alright! Cool, some Nautilus map tiles from the entrance. Kick ass, another hint! This had me convinced, maybe they were hinting to the -close- Pirate release they had in store for us.
Now, some of you are probably thinking, "Well, they're just sprites/objects, and that's it. They did just pick something that went along well with the theme". Alright, cool.
But picture this. You're working for Nexon, to make these ads, and each ad has a set list of guidelines. Right? Sounds reasonable. Well say one of the guidelines was to use some Pirate-Related sprites. Okay, this whole theory of hints becomes plausible. At least, my whole opinion on the thing.
--------------------------------------------------
Anyways, if you sat around to read all of this, it's my take on Pirates. And I think it's a pretty darn good one. Now, I invite you all to give me your opinions. Agree and give me some sweet opinions or refute what I have and explain your ideas. I'm really interested in seeing what others think about this subject. Including yours, Fiel. Also, if I missed anything, feel free to add whatever you had in mind, I'll update my first post. :3
Thanks for your time
-Looks up- Wow, I typed a lot.
EDIT: Added a event ad that I forgot - Party search Shows Pirate jobs, thanks to Trinity for the reminder
--------------------------------------------------
Could we receive Pirates before Magatia? Sure, We don't really need it.
Magatia, Nautilus, and Elin Forest all have a common theme in that they deal with an enigmatic character in Ossyria's past, the Black Magician. The Black Magician ruled Ossyria from Magatia, is being hunted down by the Pirates of the Nautilus, and is responsible for poisoning the Elin Forest during the first expedition to Victoria Island.
However, you don't discover the tale of the Black Magician in Magatia until a very high level for that town (and by this I mean 60-80 area, I don't know exactly when.) The main quests dealing with the Black Magician in Nautilus port are low level (level 20 something), so a character going through the game for the first time would do the Nautilus quests first anyway. For a reasonably high level player, they would encounter the storyline in the order of Magatia >Nautilus>Elin, while a player who started after all this content was released would encounter it in the order Nautilus > Elin >Magatia. Because of this, while the towns are related, either one can be released first without impacting the tale conveyed in the stories.

Well well well, lookie here. The two Pirate Characters. I really don't have much to say at this point. This is the 5th ad they've posted on their Website with Pirate-related Sprites or Pictures. I can seriously believe we will be getting them sooner than we think. Lets just hope for the sake of everything, that I'm right. x_x
