GMS Server Status Discussion < 2012-04-01

This is the official thread to discuss the current status of the servers, channels and general Nexon connectivity.

If you really only want to see the status and have no interest in participating in discussion here on Southperry you're discouraged from registering, there's no benefit to you for doing so. You will find it more effective and expedient to simply bookmark one of the following mirror URLS of the status page;

They update on the same schedule, load faster, use less resources and are perfect for sharing and bookmarking.



Red Blinking = All logins down, or master login down.
Red = More than 50% of the normal channels are down but logins are fine.
Yellow = Less than 50% of channels are down and logins are fine.
Green = All good.


Note in this context "down" means "not reachable" and could mean any number of reasons, not specifically that the server physically died.

Latency is now indicated in the report, including max and average.
Channels that are up but experiencing a higher than normal latency will be indicated in Yellow, but poor connection speed will not impact the status results indicator.

I expect they'll let the game run at least 24 hours to verify they've really fixed it right this time, before patching.
Not that hardware problems have anything to do with application updates, but still. Better not to have new content and new events drawing people into the game while it's still crashing.

Speaking of which, I really don't like this update going up with no Tespia. I hope it's because they've been too busy with the "instabilities" to put it up, and not because they've decided to scrap Tespia entirely.
Not that they fix bugs from Tespia, but at least *we* know what's broken ahead of time.

Seeing as the instability is across pretty much all nexon games im pretty shure nothing would have been done in Tespia even if it was open.

Actually, the Atlantica Online test server has been perfectly fine the entire time these server issues have been around. Every time I got fed up with Maple, I just hopped on there and played. It's open 24/7, that's why I'm able to go on, lol.

Indeed. But they should have planned for a Tespia session anyway. And should be planning to install on Tespia as soon as we're stable, not on the live game.

Now, as we all know (having read Eos' enlightening post), everything is planned out months ahead of time, and not patching this on Feb 1st is probably messing them up considerably. So I hope this is the reason for skipping Tespia, and not a global decision that it is no longer necessary.

Legend events were to start on the 7th but the patch was finished on the 8th.

Didn't notice that the status' are delayed 3 or so minutes from showing.

Really weird lag o_O I can see people walking around and going in portals but I can't do anything, can't click items in my inventory or go in portals. When I talk it shows up but I don't think anyone else can see it.

Wasn't too sure because as soon as I set up my store and DC'ed I noticed that the GMS status had greens/yellows while the homepage said the game was down. This was 30 minutes ago (which is an unusual amount of time to update).

around half the content of the dollar isnt made from trees, it also contains a good amount of cotton and linen technically. and coins don't grow out of trees either

I manage my rings by keeping notes, too.
And after the rollback, I logged on all the mules and wrote down their updated ring levels.
No need to be unsure of their levels for more than a few minutes, unless you're saying you haven't been able to log on them since the rollback?

Got over half my rings to level 10 yesterday. The lowest level ones are 7, so I just need 3 opportunities to have them on for an hour between now and the 6th (how likely is that?).

1. I only STARTED playing again on the 29th(?)
2. If the servers were operating typically I'd not have a problem, which is usually how it is.

It was said sometime last week that they need the servers up to (help) find out what the issue is. IIRC they've brought up the servers in just about every USC we've had (if not all) well before they actually finished.

Technically, they did. For 20-25 minutes. Then they put it back down, and are now acting as if that never happened. This is a continuation of the USC that started this morning.

This is such a hot mess that completely exemplifies the issue Nexon has with keeping the userbase informed.

Do they have any intention of this USC ending today? What about the patch - has it been delayed or will they go immediately into THAT maintenance following the (TBD length) USC?

It'd be nice to have a ballpark timeframe here, even if it is way off at least it's something to work your self around. Oi.

Yet, despite the instability, I got two characters to 70 and one to 102. Both of my rings are level 4 (currently at risk of being stuck at lv 9 if we can't log in today/no further extension).

My only real problem is that the MapleStory staff can't seem to find it in themselves to have someone post updates more regularly, even if it's just "Still working on it, hang tight." We've had one update so far (two if you count the ten minutes the server was up around 3:50 PM PST), in more than nineteen hours of downtime.

Considering all the other events continued on through until 11:59 PM PST on January 31st (AKA midnight going towards the 1st of February), where as the Telerock event stopped working at 12:01 AM January 31st (aka just after the midnight transition from the 30th) and did not work at all that day, I'm considering it having been bugged on the 31st.

I had zero expectation of it working on the 1st, but it wasn't that much of a stretch to expect it to be timed with all the other events in grouped in that time period.

We covered this the last time they had a random spike; Until it stays that way for a full there is absolutely no point trying to react to it and accommodate it because it's just as likely to change tomorrow, just like it did when we were getting all the potentially-false-failures.

It's 3x. My level 13 mule just killed a Jr. Boogie for 36 exp, when hidden-street says they're worth 12.

Remember that if your level is significantly higher than the mobs', you get less exp.

It's been about three hours since I last crashed on Broa...and no events have started.
No quests on the left side of the screen and when you click the Event Menu it says no events are available.

I've always been curious as to what it would be like playing Maple while no events were going on...
