So uh.
I'm probably not the person to do this, but it feels so quiet here now that the main thread got locked and no one made a thread other than the IGN thread.
I enjoy reading what the new updates and stuff are though despite not playing anymore.

I'm still trucking. My Priest now has 62k HP and 3.2k magic attack thanks to all the free manti gear from the event back in Feburary. I've also PvPed quite a lot with my Priest, especially in Protect mode, which is something I never really mentioned in the old thread.

Argenta and Gerrant are merged to the point where players from both servers can see and interact with each other. The character slots stay true to the specific server, though (A character created in Argenta will still be under Argenta, essentially giving us 2x the character slots for free). The other two servers, Velskud and *insert-server-whose-name-I-forget-here*, are merged as well.
I still play, a bit. Mainly on my Magic SM (PrimatesMSM), or my Gladiator-to-be (PrimatesSM). I want to cap my Magic SM for the 3 capped chars bonus for now. Also, leveling the magic SM will give me a reason to get crafting materials for my main's (PrimatesSM) armor. Making 5-piece life-giving (top, bottom, shoes, gloves, off-hand) out of epic armors and enhancing to +10 when I have the money to buy NX for jellies and gold in-game for Rubies/Diamonds. Technically not allowed to play right now, so I get on every night or two to mess around for an hour or two. It's also spring break now, so maybe more play time.
Currently finished crafting my shoes and main weapon. My off-hand weapon is +9, still needs to be crafted, and gathering the herba's crystals will be a pain. I'll probably use my daily Goddess Teardrops on them when I get the time to try for the tears.

Am I kawaii? I just started playing in Gerrant about 2 weeks ago. New graphics card + upgraded psu = I can play vidya that isn't 2D now.
I went online and looked for dear Gregory several times. He promised he would be there but he wasn't. Now Spring break is over and I won't play anymore. Disappointed, Gregory.

Why won't you play anymore? Is it because that during school you cannot control the power of the dragon?

So a while back, a friend told me that Neckson EN AY put a cap on total EXP gain per day. I was thinking about playing this game again, but I'm not going to if there is a cap.

As far as I have seen, there is no exp cap. There was a glitch after the last patch for a few hours where exp couldn't be gained after PWR was consumed entirely, but that was fixed the same day. Maybe there is a cap, but I have never reached it. I normally train about a level a day after 32 or so.

Oh, okay. And are the little job advances implemented already? I got a Sword guy to 16 before Swordsman/Mercenary were out, would be fun to actually advance and junk.
JPTheMonkey
2012-04-03, 01:20 AM
Yes, you can advance now. We just don't have the next subclass (gladiator/moonlord, in swordsman case; barbarian/destroyer in mercenary case) yet. Advances can occur at level 15, or whenever you feel ready after that.

There's no cap on total EXP gain per day. He may have been referring to any of the other versions, which have a fatigue system, which limits how many times you can run through dungeons per day. We have the PWR system, which is basically increased EXP for the first few dungeons you run per day, and we can still go into dungeons for reduced EXP after we run out.
It might change in the future though. SEA used to have something similar to our PWR system, but they switched over to fatigue recently. Supposedly, enough of the community raged to the point where they're considering changing it back to an improved version of the PWR system (and as far as I know, it's essentially PWR that depletes about 10x slower than our current rate, which should make leveling much, much faster).

The customer support for Dragon Nest has surprised me, in a good way. A week ago I received most of the things that were taken from my account when I was hacked. The only things missing were equips I was using. Today I logged on to find out that I had received the equips that were exactly (crafted correctly and had the same potential) the ones I had lost. I can't believe that a game owned by Nexon returned everything to me! So if you guys ever get hacked on Dragon Nest send a ticket because never know what could happen :P.

Yeah, the people running our version of DN actually talk on the official forums. They don't do it very often, but when they do, they keep us informed. Most of the time, it's regarding event rewards and distribution issues, though.

So umm, how does one dodge the attack serpent lady has in Manti Nest where the "room shifts" and you start getting hit a ton. Also, how2dodge Kirshlaval's double grav ball...Just solo'd Manti nest because I need 6 more herba crystals and no one was available for a party. Serpent lady: Can't dodge it. Best you can do is try to interrupt it, but I'm not exactly sure how to do it, just that it's possible. It probably has something to do with breaking its block during the countdown, or using specific ultimates (Mercenary's Cleaving Gale comes to mind, but I forget if it works or not).
Otherwise, pay attention to the four glowing crystals in the center. The one that is raised points to a platform that will heal you if you're standing on it for far more than the attack does (and will still heal you once or twice even after the attack ends). If you have a Mercenary in your party, tell him to cast his superarmor buffs before the earthquake, you'll have an easier time attacking through it.
About the Manticore's gravity ball starter... When you teleport to his room, either run directly ahead and use your evade skill, or run directly to the side and use your evade skill. Don't go diagonally because chances are fairly good that you're going to get caught by the second gravity ball. Even then, dodging it might be a crapshoot depending on how early or late he launches the attack.
If that's not the attack you're talking about, you're probably referring to the one where he summons these two giant orbs that pins you to the ground? All you can do is look for black runes appearing on the floor. If you see that, you probably only have a second to get out, if you can. They're usually summmoned to his sides, so if you're directly in front or behind him, you should be safe.

So the other day I just read a guide on SDN. I don't think...I trust our community enough to be able to DO half that stuff. Even at 50 cap, I don't see us clearing it, due to simple lack of any teamwork skill, which is absolutely essential for a couple of those stages. Everyone dies if one person fucks up? I make it a point to never rely on others, so that does not sit well with me at all.

Especially when considering that this is a raid designed for 8 people. The greatest pressure appears to be placed on the Clerics, especially the Paladins.

Don't know if you guys have heard yet, but the Korean version is going through some major skill revamps at the moment. I'd say it's comparable to Big Bang since this also includes damage calculation changes (for example, instead of Priest's Blessing of Strikes being an additive modifier, it's a multiplier now). Criticals do 150% damage instead of 125%, but they no longer ignore defense. They are testing these things out over the next month.
There's actually a slight chance that we may see these changes in our version far earlier than we think. After all, it only took 3 months for Mercenary transform to reach us, and we somehow got Elementalist PvP changes 1 week before every other version.

Bah, worthless NA patch. Guild VS Guild is ridicuously laggy even with a computer that can run Skyrim decently. If you lag at Pirate stage of Apocalypse Nest, you will lag in Guild VS Guild.
Also something about a bug where if you run out of PWR, you no longer get any drops from dungeons.
No new events going on that don't require supreme gear. I actually do have said gear (my Priest now has 70k HP, 3.1k magic attack, 5k crit, 6k magic defense), but I'd imagine that 95% of the DN population doesn't.
---
Those kDN changes get more and more interesting. Here's a video of a Swordmaster using Blade Storm with dark attribute.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RplRD2KGGTk
Also, if there's one good thing about the change to the critical system, it's that monsters can no longer wtp 2HKO you even with high defense. It's debatable that this may result in the damage gap being, in theory, no longer so freaking huge between rich and poor (and Elementalists VS everyone else on account of Hellfire allowing so many more Elementalists to reach crit cap, along with their ice stacking).

Oh, I saw that. It's a Siege Stance bug. Still, Archers were super buffed. 2-4x skill damage increases across the board, to make up for the crit formula change. I'd go as far as to say that Sharpshooters may be top DPS now.

Er... Wow. It looks like Nexon screwed up with security big time. I wonder if it affects other Nexon games too.
The game is down right now because people discovered that anyone can get into anyone's account (edit for clarification: through DN launcher, so I don't think it should affect other Nexon games) just by knowing their email. It didn't matter if the password was right or wrong, although it seems you were safe if you had set up a second password. Also something about a gold exploit.
I left MapleStory to escape this crap, but... Well, at least they responded to this pretty fast, from the sounds of it.

No worries. Apparently Nexon is doing a rollback. I don't think this issue existed any longer than 2 days, so I'm going to assume that they'll rollback to a point before the patch on Thursday morning at the furthest.
Also, that gold exploit thing was fake.
EDIT: Yup, guessed right. They're rolling back to April 19th, 2:00 PM PST, which is just before the servers went up after the patch.

Saw that this morning. It only further solidified my decision to go Saint, even though I'm getting outperformed by Inquisitors in PvP left and right.
Sort of miffed that he didn't try to showcase much else beyond chain lightning/shock of relic though. Then again, judging from the player's name, he was a Paladin that used a job change scroll for the purpose of testing.
Here's another Priest T4 video, with this guy just showcasing the changes to relics and the standard holy skills, while using broken equipment for a flat damage range. I wonder if Blessing of Strikes increasing relic damage by about 5x is intentional... And it appears that Grand Sigil can no longer be buffed.
I wonder if Healing Relic can still be buffed. If it can't, then the heal nerf is even larger than I ever imagined.

Has everyone migrated to Tera and GW2? How's the population at now?

Alilatias

The population obviously jumped up since the West servers and East servers merged back in mid-Feburary, but I think a lot of people quit over the past two months since we basically got nothing but PvP updates. You're lucky to have party listings go anywhere past 3 pages in the West server.
You can still find a Cerberus party on a Friday night, but not for the reasons you'd expect. People are only doing it now because there's an event where you have to complete every single Nest (minus Manticore and Apocalypse Hell) and use up every single run over 7 weeks in order to get free crafting material for Apocalypse gear (and it only gives you like 1/3rd of the total amount of gear you need anyways).
I think we're now at Week 5, and Week 6 starts in about an hour. So if you're doing it on a Friday night, you're partying with all the procrastinators or people who can't play at any other time of the week.
However, DN SEA just got Academic, so I think it's safe to say that we're probably getting Academic in about 2-3 weeks as well. People will probably come back for that, although there will be an obvious class imbalance. Right now, I don't expect DN NA to get 50 cap until July at the earliest, although I would not be surprised if the recent kDN skill revamp is to be included in our 50 cap release.

I haven't really quit, I was just grounded a week ago (parents keep taking my spare power cords to my computer, and took my internet adapter) and got back into DFO during the couple weeks prior. I'll probably still be on DFO until some content comes out since I've for the most part finished my gear I care to spend money on on DN. I don't how long I'm grounded for, or why, really, I feel it's because my finals are in 3 weeks and I have one or two this coming week that I'm preparing for/helping senior friends who finish school this coming week prepare for.
As for these updates, they look like loads of fun to mess around with, though it seems to be a bit much to add a new job advance (it looks like, not sure), and not increase the cap. Unless there was some kind of SP revamp as well, or these skills aren't really new and just replace other ones. I haven't looked into it much due to lack of ability/time.

For me at least, TERA is the only thing I'm going to be playing for the forseeable future; DN just doesn't update fast enough, whereas TERA has a real update at least twice a month and is launching at CURRENT with the KR version, which is a couple years old already.

Yeah, for the hardcore PvErs, nothing has really happened since Feburary. The past two months have all been PvP-related updates, of which even the PvP community stopped caring about after the first two weeks or so. Although I have been seeing a noticeable increase in the amount of PvPers over the past two weeks, at least here in the West servers.
Chances are that we're going to patch next week, hopefully with something major like Academic or Sea Dragon/Farming system.

T4 changes are going live in kDN tomorrow.
Well, Paladins appear to have been hit pretty hard, but I think part of the problem is that people don't really understand the scale of this. I'll go over some of the changes...
---
Critical mechanics change:
Pre-T4: Critical hits ignored enemy defense and inflicted 125% damage
Post-T4: Critical hits inflict 200% damage (this is confirmed final since T4 is going into the kDN live servers tomorrow)
I'm in support of this change, really. Critical was stupid broken before.
Aura of Healing/Redemption Aura (Cleric):
Aura of Healing recieved a significant hit.
Pre-T4: 11.4% max HP + 2054
T4-2: 9% max HP + 7825
However, Redemption Aura was made far better than before.
Pre-T4: 10% increase in healing for 60 seconds. 180 second cooldown.
T4-2: 30% increase in healing for 60 seconds. 120 second cooldown.
Provoke (Paladin):
Its duration was reduced to 12 seconds at current max level (with a technique accessory, duration goes up to 15 seconds I think). A lot of people missed the fact that its cooldown was reduced to 12 seconds as well. It could be considered a nerf in the sense that people now absolutely have to max it in order for it to be truly effective.
However, with the way the new T4 SP system works (3 SP or 1 SP to learn a new skill, 1 SP to level that skill up), you can max far more skills now.
Look at this guy's T4 Saint build: http://forum.mmosite.com/thread/2/217/20120417/Dawn_of_T4_Era_KDN_Test_Server_Cleric_Skill_Change s_T42_Data_Complete-4f8dd9197caaf9813-5.html
I also made a post explaining how such a build is possible here: http://dragonnestplus.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=661&page=2
Elemental/Conviction Aura (Paladin):
Oh man, the Paladin Auras recieved a huge hit.
Elemental: +23% fire/ice attack -> +20% attack and +42% fire/ice defense -> +20% defense
Conviction: +27% light attack -> +16% attack and +46% light defense -> +16% defense
When you think about it though, the defenses were truly silly before. But ouch, man.
Blessing of Strikes (Priest):
Its effect was reduced to +22% at max level to +15%, but the way it factored into the damage formula was changed too. For example, let's pretend that the below numbers were for Toxic Spray, not taking into account the actual changes made to that skill.
Pre-T4: 60% + 22% + 220
Post-T4: [60% + 220] * 15%
Okay, maybe that wasn't a good example. I'd imagine that it's slightly weaker in this case. But take something with a high % value, like... Let's pretend the below numbers were for Fireball.
Pre-T4: 500% + 22% + 360
Post-T4: [500% + 360] * 15%
At least, that's how I think it works now. Not 100% sure on this myself. All I know is that most are in agreement that it's a massive buff overall.
Blessing of Light/Protection Shell (Priest):
Our other two party buffs got hit too.
Blessing of Light: 20% Light Attack/Defense -> 18% Light Attack/Defense
Protection Shell: 30% damage reduction -> 18% damage reduction
I don't consider this a nerf at all though, because the duration was increased from 60 seconds -> 180 seconds. Hell yes.
Healing Relic (Priest):
At first, this was majorly nerfed. But then it got majorly buffed.
Pre-T4: 75% of magic attack + 650
T4-1: 50% of magic attack + 1117
T4-2: 50% of magic attack + 6707
That's per pulse by the way. The T4-2 change was what Healing Relic really needed, because a Priest's magic attack does not scale up at nearly the same rate that everyone's HP/enemy damage does.
EDIT: I personally have a Priest with 3.1k magic attack and Level 7 Healing Relic (possible at 40 cap with technique earring), and the most he can heal with a Redemption Aura + Blessing of Strikes buffed Healing Relic is 3k per pulse, which is pathetic when most people are sporting 40k+ HP right now (myself 73k HP). The buff to flat rate is greatly welcomed.
---
As for DN NA, we're getting a patch tomorrow too... Although it only seems to be starting up Guild War.
It's unusually early for Nexon to patch at this time of the month. I hope this isn't all we're getting this month. I hope we're getting something new next week...

Oh, so they reduced the CD also, didn't know that. I was going to max it either way and get a provoke plate. The change to the SP system is by far my most favorite change they made. So much easier to get a variety of skills without having to sacrifice much.
EDIT: I'm really hoping for a release of a male Martial Artist/Monk class. Would be nice to have another male character in Dragon Nest.

Yeah, most people missed that because cooldown changes were brought up much later in the thread. The MMOSite Freedom forums decided not to mention the cooldown changes in the summary post in most cases, because all of that is subject to change.

Here's some of the Priest skill changes, as seen in-game during T4-1 (check post #78): http://forum.mmosite.com/thread/2/217/20120417/Dawn_of_T4_Era_KDN_Test_Server_Cleric_Skill_Change s_T42_Data_Complete-4f8dd9197caaf9813-4.html
- Righteous Bolt cooldown reduced to 10 seconds (previously 16 seconds)
- Block duration increased to 20 seconds (previously 15 seconds)
- Healing Relic is boosted to 60% Magic Attack if you have a technique accessory for it, and an epic -CD plate reduces cooldown to 48 seconds as usual
- Cure Relic cooldown was reduced to 25 seconds at all levels (previously 45 seconds at Lv. 1), 20 seconds with an epic -CD plate. Duration increased to 18 seconds from 15 seconds.
- Not mentioned is that when Bind Relic is maxed, its cooldown is reduced to 45 seconds (previously 60 seconds)
- Holy Shield (saint skill) duration increased to 30 seconds (previously 15 sec). Cooldown was sent back to 60 seconds during T4-2. With a technique accessory, Lv. 2 boosts healing effect to 50% magic attack (taking T4-2 into account, previously 31%).
- Relic of Shock (saint skill) cooldown reduced to 30 seconds (previously 60 seconds)
- Lightning Bolt cooldown reduced to 13 seconds (previously 18 seconds)
- Chain Lightning cooldown reduced to 12 seconds (previously 20 seconds)
- Detonate cooldown reduced to 17 seconds (previously 20 seconds)
- Holy Burst cooldown reduced to 25 seconds (previously 40 seconds)
That's not everything, though. I think Consencration (Inquisitor skill) had its cooldown reduced as well. With the cooldown changes to the Priest lightning skills, I'd be inclined to think that they're going to try setting up Inquisitors as a true DPS or a secondary support class come 60 cap.

Is there a new skill calculator to use that has the T4 changes?
EDIT: And what type of weapon should non elemental classes craft? From the vids I've seen they mostly use Dark, I'm not sure why.

No skill calculator yet.
As for the dark weapons... What those players in the videos have are old versions of the Manticore gear, stuff that we do not have. Don't worry about it for now.
Go for:
- Windswept: Only if you're an archer or critical build
- Destructive/Brutal: If you're physical.
- Intellect: If you're magical. Don't even think about Magic Power unless you're a magic SM or SS, Intellect's -% elemental resist is superior for all other magic classes.
- Life-Giving: Only an option for epic rank and above weapons, though.

So what was that thing I was reading about how crafting an elemental suffix on a weapon gives non elemental attacks the element crafted on the weapon?

This week is kind of a crap week to be making any money. However, this is the week to hoard.
There's a week long +50% drop rate event, and because of that, just about everything farmable fell in price. Even Pirate Captain Seals and Mini Generators are worth less than 70g each now, when a month ago they were well above 120g+ each.
Other than that, you gotta hope to get lucky with nest drops and getting a third stat bonus on epic crests. Note that if you are party leader for Manticore Nest, you will get any blue mats that drop from the end chest, all the time. It only occurs in Manticore Nest, and it's also the reason why you see so many Manticore Nest parties early Saturday with only 1-2 people in each party, at least here in West.

There's been some kind of DN hacking spree over the past two months. Hope you set up a second password.

And while it seems like MapleStory is getting slightly better, DN has gone to hell. It's been almost a month since the guild event ended and we still haven't gotten our rewards. Guild rumble shop is broken and they have 4 days left to fix it. Who knows if the guild rumble matches will even take place since the game is apparently still calculating the results?
(The guild that I'm an officer in, Salvation, got 2nd place in the preliminary round here in the West servers. Well, at least before all of the data disappeared upon the prelims ending.)

In other news, we've all heard that kDN is getting level 60 cap sometime this year, right?
Thing is... They just revealed that it's being released NEXT WEEK.

So, the Level 60 cap was released in kDN last week. So why is no one really talking about it?
http://forum.mmosite.com/thread/2/217/20120605/7th_June_DK_KR_Update_Release_of_Lv60_Cap_and_2_Ne w_Nests_Translation_Completed-4fcee2532f7d28e13-1.html
All they really did was release 5 new dungeons (still in Lotus Marsh when everyone believed that we'd be moving to Tel Numara) and two Nests that don't even seem that challenging compared to Apoc at 40 cap. Also, new euips.
No new skills yet, but ultimates can be upgraded to Level 2 at level 60.
Some weapon suffixes no longer stack, which especially impacts Intellect weapons. Now Priests and Sorceresses should look into using Intellect + Magic Power or Element instead of trying to stack both after 60 cap.
All in all, I get the impression that they rushed out the 60 cap. They're supposed to be adding more next month, but I would not be surprised at all if they released Kali instead of releasing the level 60 skills for all of the other classes, considering that the Kali skill preview has been out for quite a while.

...There's a pretty big issue on the Nexon forums right now. I don't know the full details of it yet since Nexon has yet to make a clear official statment about this, but I'll try.
Since about Thursday or Friday last week, some people have been getting FIVE +13 Level 40 Epic Primary Weapon vortex geodes. Those, along with 25k NX scales, are supposedly given to people with accounts that have been inactive for a long time. How inactive? Some things indicate that it's people that have not logged in even once between perhaps late Feburary/early March at the latest and now. Said accounts have to have characters at Level 24 or above, and I think they have to talk to Irine to get the prizes.
Of course, people are ticked. Aesilli (the new community CM since Alteris left in late March from the looks of things) said that it might seem unfair at first, but said inactive people could not have been around to participate in the recent events (giving off the impression that the events designers don't even play the game, because even one of those geodes is far more valuable than the combined worth of all prizes from all events that have happened in the history of NA DN).
...But enough of that. If you probably fit into the inactive category, check the email associated with your account, or talk to Irine with a level 24+ character. Assuming the Irine part is true, because I have no idea if it even is.

Pets expire in 30 days. If anything, some people on the forums see this as a jerk move by Nexon, either because they already have the pet, or it won't be going to their Academic (I refuse to call her Tinkerer) characters next week. On the bright side, this means everyone that participates in this event will no longer have to spend the 3k NX to get the pet (only the 1k or so to revive it IIRC), unless it outright disappears from our inventory, which I wouldn't be surprised if that happened.
I cant log in, launch failure every time. Anyone know how to fix this?
Might have to either use manual launcher (which won't work if your password is too long, I think longer than 16 characters since it won't fit in the box), or download the latest client and reinstall the game from there.
I had the same issue two weeks ago when I deleted/reinstalled the game when the site launcher suddenly stopped working (and that's how I found out about the manual launcher not accepting long passwords). Apparently there are problems with trying to patch from a client that is too old.

Giving out free, timed items is a marketing strategy.
Giving something free that's timed is a good way to get the person to see what that item can do. Usually it will encourage the person to buy more of the item when the free one runs out, OR in cases like this buy the recharge items to continue using the now ''free'' item.
Since there's an infinite amount of cash items and they take absolutely nothing to ''make'', it can only profit them in the end. People that already bought it don't matter, you got their money already, and people that didn't have it before are now more likely to buy the recharge item.

We're getting the Hybrid FTG system that SEA got with our Academic update as well!
http://dragonnest.nexon.net/news/news/00E3N/empowerment-system-update
''For all players, having 0 PWR left will reduce the item drop rate to 20%.''
So if I'm understanding this correctly: Instead of FTG which makes it literally impossible to run dungeons once it's been depleted, this version of the system allows you to still be able to run the dungeon, but kill a lot of incentive to even bother by reducing your drop rates to almost nothing?
At Lv40 you'll consume all of your PWR in three Abyss runs, so basically not even 25~30minutes before your rates are reduced.

If you're in West, I'll gladly invite you to Salvation. However, we're a bit full at the moment, what with everyone having Academic/Tinkerer alts and all.
Oh! Do you guys remember those Crude Approval Stamps? Those 5 useless stamps you got from Bailey after you did some Abyss quests? Well, they just became VERY useful. The latest patch now makes them usable on Level 32 and below items (as opposed to 16 and below beforehand), but that's not all that changed. They now work on epic crude sparks, and they also work on most skill plates now, including the special plates from Minotaur Nest and Cerberus Nest!
I even used a single Crude Approval Stamp to unbind a Superb Spectrum Ray plate, and that's a level 32 Mystic skill!
Overall great update, however the slap in the face to the end-game drop rate is a tremendous disappointment.

It seems like there's always violent motion on the screen what with the vast amount of attacks, though it's going to be a hassle at later levels since you get so many attacks.
The vast majority of the Engineer skills are actually passive upgrades to two of the three types of summons that they get.
- upgrades to Alfredo (uses certain abilities with cooldowns, you cannot control when he uses those abilities, except for Alfredo Stomp which is a toggled command)
- Quackums (they use certain attacks with cooldowns, you cannot control when they use said attacks)
- Towers
Even then, I'm now level 28, and I'm having issues with skill bar space and SP distribution...
Seriously, you will not be able to learn all skills as soon as you reach the level requirement for them. Engineer skills take up a ton of SP. To level up Engineer skills, you need to use 4 SP, while other classes only need either 1 or 3 SP to do so.
Man some skills seems very useless like the slick ground skill, I know what im not putting points into. (unless it works on bosses)
Most people recommend at least learning the skill, and even getting a skill plate for cooldown. I personally found two Quality plates for Slip-n-Slide, crafted both for -CD, and I ended up selling the other one for 500 gold...
While it might not seem very useful to yourself, keep in mind that the skill is a godsend in a party, especially for Priests and Sharpshooters, who do not have any natural movement skills.
Oh, and it does work on bosses, like the Cleric's Paralyze Bolt. Don't expect it to work on the Nest bosses, though.

It's for mobility, so don't expect to lay down that ''Fire Pudding'' and expect the mobs to just fall over, because the chance IIRC is only 10% at Lv1, so more often than not the mobs will walk right over it.
Again, people max it out for end-game nests for the mobility aspect to avoid devastating attacks, nothing else. Its ''slip'' chance isn't reliable enough to get it for that sole purpose.

slip n slide has made soloing the bosses of abyss dungeons a joke. I had one proc on the last boss of stronghold 3x in a row. He just kept getting knocked over while I just beat into him. The same thing happened to the last boss in lost tunnels. It's like a random 2 second stun.
and chemical warfare is AWESOME.

Thanks, this helped me decide what I wanted to go for. (Which is why I save my free reset from Lv15)
I knew I was leaning more toward Shooting Star, but this guide really brings it to definite status. I can see why points aren't used in the right branch: the AI for the walking Quackums is horrific and can't be relied upon much. To be honest I only send them out when the rest of my attacks are in cooldown just so I can use something in that time.
Looks like I'll be resetting today.

Yeah, they got rid of the aversion system. There were a lot of changes in this latest patch, yeah.
Still loving how crude approval stamps work on anything Level 32 and below (including skill plates). Skill plate prices are dropping like a rock.

It's just a low level thing. I've always run out of mana doing abyss dungeons and nest runs when not properly geared for that level when I'm leveling any character (except ele). I'm gonna buy some mana pots and try cerberus now.
edit - well that's not happening. My lvl 15 gear turns red by the time I kill the wizard dude.

Do NOT even bother doing higher dungeons in Abyss (Including Cerberus) with low level gear. Even on Master your gear gets close to breaking in the Lv32+ dungeons.
I just ran Mino till I got a temporary upgrade for some of my parts for the durability.

So Nexon screwed up the weekend login event. So what do they do? They give free stuff to every character.
- 10 Approval Stamps (of the tradeable kind, lol at the stamp market crashing even more)
- 10 Item Protection Jellies (of the tradeable kind)
- 7 Resurrection Scrolls
- 3 Blue Courier Birds
- 10 Quick MP Potions
- 10 Quick HP Potions
You only have a week to claim them all before they expire from the gift box.
Oh, and DarkQThunder, it was a pleasure running Apoc Nest with you yesterday. :D

You get crapped on at 40 when you run out of PWR, so all you really have are Nest runs to do.

Still 40.
When 50 cap comes things will be fantastic from 1~49, but PWR craps on you again at 50. Basically, cap sucks unless you only Nest or PvP.

This is highly unlikely to go anywhere, considering the circumstances. (Wait 3-4 years to sue over this? Yeah, right. This is about as bad as those random companies holding patents for motion sensing technology trying to sue Nintendo.)
I wouldn't get worried about it progressing far enough to result in the closure of all DN versions.
Kali is coming out today in Dragon Nest KR! I hope the patch won't be long because I'm really excited to play a new class.
Yeah, Kali seems like an amazing concept for a new class. I wish I could say the same for the MapleStory classes now...
Here are the (untranslated) patch notes.
http://forum.mmosite.com/thread/2/217/20120704/DN_KR_5th_July_Patch_note-4ff4650a73aa1e213-1.html
From what I can gather, the character creation screen was completely remade (you can preview stuff such as gestures and equipment), and character slots were expanded to 12 across all servers. That tree will be missed.
We can also upgrade lower level NX costumes into higher level ones, with the stats that comes from doing that. Nice for those of us who perfer how the lower level costumes look even though the stats pale in comparison to the higher level costumes.
I really like the new archer costumes, but the new Cleric costumes suck as usual.
And a bunch of level-up events.

I'm almost ready for SDN. I just gotta convert the following...
- Agility healing relic technique earring -> intellect healing relic technique earring
- Fatal ring -> magic attack/vitality attuned mind technique ring
That should bump my magic attack to 3.3k, my MP to 49k-50k, and my magic defense to around 5.8-6k (although I already hit the 89% magic damage reduction cap with Protection Shell). My critical will probably drop by like 3k (25-30% critical hit rate), but stronger healing is more important than higher critical at SDN.

A lot of things has changed in Dragon Nest. It was very different when I played it in 2010.
Overall, I'm happy with Kali. Her basic attack is a bit slow though and sometimes it doesn't hit the enemy. Too bad I crash every now and often (not sure why because I have a very good gaming computer) or else I would've been a Screamer (lol) already.

Hey Guys,
I have to break some unfortunate news to you all. I was incorrect when I said the “Avengers of Altera” title would be permanent. At the time that was the information we had, however it was incorrect. The title will have a 30 day duration. Now I know this is not what you guys want to hear, and I feel bad for misleading everyone. So in an attempt to make amends, we will be giving 5 Dragon Eggs to each account that earns the title during this event. I hope that this offering and my sincere apology help make up for my misinformation.
Now if you are still angry with me, which is understandable. Feel free to start the MistaSparkle effigies.

Aw, that's too bad.
Still, it's definitely not a bad game. Made a Tinkerer (is that the right term? The lolita with the gun-cannon thing) and got it to level eight. Fun as hell.
The game is amazing in my opinion, and it's one of my favorite MMOs at the moment. It even has a good story in my opinion, and it's one of the ONLY MMOs I've ever bothered to follow story-wise. Even the sidequests offer you more to the story of the game, and the humor is great.
It's much fairer than Maple in terms of cash shop items as well, where you really don't have to shell out money just to be decent. In fact, some of the more ''important'' items are tradeable.
The only problem now is that they changed it so at level cap your ''fatigue'' depletes rapidly, and they changed it so you have a very harsh decrease in drop-rates when this happens, meaning you can't farm nearly as well as you would've been able to normally. Once you've finished up your Nest runs for the week there is basically nothing to do at level cap.

Apocalypse Cannon. Nice. @_@
---
It's called four clerics and a crapton of coordination. Sea Dragon is a place where you have to buff out the wazoo and have the two Paladins provoke/tank everything so no one else takes any damage.
As for Mana, I think most of us have a Spirited plate or an Attuned Mind technique ring. I also have a +10 Teram Shield with Magic Damage/Strength/Critical/MP Regeneration potential. I usually regain more MP than I use.
The Mercenary that died ended up doing so because of a communication hiccup, and a stage trap wiped him out in two hits and almost got me too. (He has 65k HP.)
---
The servers had a hiccup earlier today. So we got compensation.
http://dragonnest.nexon.net/news/news/00F3V/compensation-for-service-interruption-07-25-2012?nxid=62
All characters get the following:

- 5x Empowerment potions (500 PWR points each)
And there's a 100% EXP/50% drop rate event today.

I never noticed the server check and got weird looks from players when I was asking what they were talking about. I just went afk near Erwin when I went to bed, and woke up near him and started doing nests a few hours later without once logging off or being disconnected.
As for SDN, yeah I read some stuff about it a couple months ago, and figured I would not be able to attempt it until 50 cap. That level of difficulty is way too much for my SM with 41k HP (5-piece life-giving as well), or my Engineer. Not too mention the fact that I broke both of my SM's weapons (+9 Goldwing Sword(Destructive), epic and a +9 Varnak Gauntlet (Life-Giving), epic).

I'm going to clarify a few things that this patch changed.
1: Nest drop rates
- I notice two blue mats dropping from the end chest all the time now.
- Seems like we're guaranteed at least 1 plate now
- Tons more green mats from the minibosses
2: Abyss dungeon drop rates
- With PWR, I saw a noticeable increase in the amount of Average Onyx dropped by mobs throughout an abyss dungeon. I see like 3-5 per run now, compared to the 0-2 from before.
- All minibosses seem to have a 100% drop rate of class lustre now.
- The dungeon boss also seems to have a 100% drop rate of 1 class weapon/armor, 1 accessory, 1 rare plate, and lustre.
3: Dimensional Bunny rewards (not mentioned in patch notes)
- Dimensional Fragment amount per bunny appears to be bumped up from 15 to 25.
- It appears that we're guaranteed to get 2 magic-rank gifts and 2 nest entry passes from the bunny now as well.
I don't know if the drop event affects these things (referring to nest and bunny), though. I would imagine that it doesn't, since it never did beforehand.

I'm agreeing with your post more and more, the longer I play. In the beginning, I'd expected things to become impossible without NX, but it's still enjoyable at level 21. Feelin' a bit apprehensive, waiting for that rude awakening to come along, but it hasn't yet. Maybe it never will.
I hope Nexon doesn't screw this game like they did with Maplestory. Dragon Nest really does remind me of Maple before it went to hell. Pineappleing corporate greed, man...

I have never "needed" NX up to this point. I have capped 3 characters and have one sitting at level 35. Of course if you want to max out inventory space and storage space, you need NX. Personally, I find that the level up gifts are enough for storage/inventory size, as well as the occasional event for storage slots. Upgrading items is free if you feel like saving for the geodes (spiral requires more effort, vortex almost none, but spiral is cheaper as a result and vortex more expensive). I only spent NX in April or May to buy a costume for my SM since it gives a set effect, and am contemplating buying one for my engineer which I will be using as a main now.

I know nothing about equipment enhancement (and I mean that in the most general way possible; as in, I don't know how to make my equipment better.), and I think I'm happier for it. As an Engineer, dungeons are easy as hell, anyway. :3
Oh, god. Are Engineers like ... are they like the Phantoms of this game? That is to say, are they the Overpowered Class of the Month?

you talk to the blacksmith, and sacrifice gems to increase your gear, they can go up to +6 without exploding, at which point they can explode at a 25% rate (iirc) if the enhancement fails, needless to say, the reward/risk ratio gets higher and higher, and there's an NX item that allows for your weapon to not explode up to +12(it's a massive cash vaccuum though) reason it's a cash vaccuum is because your equipment can lower enhancement levels if it fails, the epic ones can go down 3 ranks if you're unlucky.

Oh, that's actually quite interesting. I really had no idea. I've just been upgrading as I level, and selling the old ones.
I feel like there's a tutorial in this game that I totally missed out on. For the longest time, I just threw things away because I couldn't find the item shop NPC. Yesterday I accidentally stumbled across the storage dude for the first time. We get eight slots! That's ... I mean -- in maple, I only had four. This is excellent, indeed.
But yeah, thanks for cluing me in on that.

Unfortunately storage isn't account shared. Every character gets a separate storage, unless you get a guild, get every char in the guild, get the guild to level 7 (for storage if I'm not mistaken), and get them to all have access to said storage.
As for the enhancement, that's pretty much it. If you use spirals/vortexes, your chances of succeeding are 100% but they're a pain to get usually. You either extract pre-enhanced items and hope for a good one, or spend comet dusts on pots containing vortexes/spirals and hope for a useful one. Jellies can be bought from other players if you're willing to spend that money. Or you can use NX to buy them. I personally enhance epics to +6 without spirals/vortexes/jellies and then start using vortexes/spirals. Rares and Magic ranks are just tossed in until a +10 comes out or I am stuck with a +6, no money spent for them.

As far as I know, we are one of only two groups in the West servers that has come face-to-face with the Dragon himself thus far, and the only to have reached the dragon without any deaths. I am honored to have fought alongside them all as the lead Priest of Salvation!

This douchebag miniboss walled us from reaching the Sea Dragon for our first two attempts today. He has a poison gas attack that pretty much instakills everyone off the ledges when his HP bar is close to dropping to the next level. We can't stay on the ledges all the time, because there are even douchier spitflowers on them that just chomp everyone up and get people trapped in vines that essentially instakills them if others don't free them in time.
My job during this stage is to protect everyone with Grand Sigil/defense buffs when it comes time to go to the ledge to avoid the poison gas attack, heal as usual, and use my relics as bait for the vines.

Gratz. I saw on dnarmory that the chests in SDN give manti stuff? If so, how often is it? As for the East server, reading the courier birds every so often, I saw a "Gratz _ Group on reaching Sea Dragon", so if that was true, we have at least one group that made it as far.
I haven't made much progress on my apoc armor today. Stuff hasn't been selling and I ran out of nest runs, so I can only farm reg dungeons for the gold to buy mats. 3/5 Internal Linings, 20/30 hearts, and 4/20 bows for the pants so far. Next is top probably or boots depending on mat availability.

I'm pretty sure the chests in SDN don't drop Apoc or Manti gear, just regular epics. Out of the 5 runs we did so far, we haven't seen a single nest set epic drop.

Oh well, that would kind of ruin the prices on nest epics if they came free from a different dungeon at a high rate. It is nice getting already-finished pieces from the end of dungeon chests, though.

Just 3 more pieces. Thinking of doing Top next, but if there are enough Pipes I'll probably go with Shoes next. Powerglove comes last since it's just as expensive as the cannon.

Have you ever thought of getting 5 pieces of the apocalypse set and 2 pieces of the manticore set to maximize your hp? Unless you want the extra 196 final damage from having all 7 pieces or have OCD and you have to have the full set, then disregard what I said :p.

Yeah, I contemplated ways of using a combination of manti/apoc for damage but with final damage being 4 piece, I decided to go with apoc since I like how it looks more. I will be doing a 2 2-piece set for accessories though, both for the final damage effect. Current goal is Craft > Enhance to +6 > Suffixes > Spiral/Vortex to +10 or higher and/or gather accessory pieces. Cannon is +4 now from Lebrium drops as I ran dungeons. Forgot nests reset today and will probably catch up on them tomorrow or Monday.

Nexon stealth nerfed Crude Approval Stamps with the Sea Dragon patch. They no longer work on class skill plates. (They still work on special skill plates such as Minotaur Cow Strike and the three Cerberus plates, but who uses them anymore?)

Haven't seen anything about East beating SDN yet, but I did see a ton of people showing off some item that lets you revive in the dungeon once, which seems like it could be extremely useful, but not very practical if it's rare as hell.

Using the 5 piece apoc set is almost better than what I have now damage-wise. 2081 top end with what I have now, 2029 with apoc. My HP suffers greatly though. I lose 6k (30k -> 24k) when I have apoc. That'll change when I can start enhancing and putting suffixes on, so for now I'll keep using what I have.

As far as I know, the closest any group got to beating SDN in NA so far is a group in East that got him down to 8 bars.
What kind of crests and accessories do you have? My own Engineer has 2.6k phys, 30k HP, and 6k crit. She's only wearing like +8 level 40 blue armor/+10 blue weapons and windswept/destructive rings. You can probably get past 3k phys/35k HP easily after enhancing and sparking your stuff.
JPTheMonkey

2 piece cerberus nephrite (ring/necklace). Ring has phys/str/agi hiddens, necklace has agi/vit/mp hiddens. Earrings are level 37 Adorned (Epic), with agi/int/hp hiddens (This was an upgrade I made about 20 mins ago and gained 1.2k HP. The old hidden didn't have the HP line). My other ring is a level 29 destructive ring with phys/str/agi hiddens. When I finish my sparking/enhancing/suffixes on apoc I'll get to work on finding a pair of 2-piece accessory sets from manti/apoc. Preferably 2 rings for phys damage and whatever for earring + neck.
Crests are Superb Brutal (level 32), Superb Windswept (Level 24), Quality Destructive (Level 40), Quality Health (Level 40), Quality Ultimate (Level 40 w/ phys damage extra line), Superb Fierce (Level 40), Superb Stunning (Level 32 w/ Critical extra line), and Superb Life-Giving (Level 40). Skills crests are assorted crests I found while levelling. Switching my Bubble Trouble crest for a Superb Super Ball crest if I can find one from the pouch from Stashy in about 30 mins when I get 800 dimensional frags (got 755 right now).
As for my armor, it can all be seen in my screenshots when it's compared to the apoc pieces. Just got phys hidden on my +7 off hand finally though. Phys is now 2175 total. I'm up to 5 pipes and 8 hearts for apoc shoes. 22 more hearts is like 100g so I'll have those soon, the pipes are going to be between 150 and 200g total for the last 5 so that comes after hearts.

Avengers of Altera titles and Dragon Eggs have been handed out to all level 40s on the account if you qualified. I got crap from my dragon eggs. My Engineer's free NX outfit + pet expired yesterday so my HP dropped by about 4k, and my damage by a bit. My HP went back up to about the same as before and damage is now at 2471 top end with Avenger of Altera applied. I still haven't gotten Apoc Shoes due to being away most of yesterday and the sudden inflation on Pipes messing with my calculations. Should an item of mine sell today, I'll be able to make them, though.
Edit:

My item sold, I made apoc shoes and it turns out I had the mats to make Life-giving laying around, so no need to give these a suffix later. As for the off-hand mats, I have all the Tentacles and Red Lustres. The Blue Lustres will remain a pain in the ass to get (26 to go), but once I have them I will be done crafting my apoc set.

Will edit above post, because only Sorceress data is available at the moment.
With all of these new EX skills, I see that it's going to be impossible for my Priest-Saint-to-be to really PvP in the long run, because these EX skills clearly favor offensive skills more than defensive skills. A lot of the offensive EX skills are getting a near complete reworking on how the attack works, while the two defensive EX skills in the list up there still largely work the same. (Not to mention that both defensive EX skills are BLed in 1 VS 1 PvP anyways.)

You can buy the Pledge set once your guild has reached certain levels (go to Guild -> Guild Info -> Guild Reward). They are considered cash shop clothing. Each piece costs about 10-60 gold, and lasts for 30 days. They only give you an EXP boost for equipping multiple pieces, but dang, the Sorceress one looks really nice.
IMO, the Sorceress Pledge set looks nicer than 90% of the cash shop sets available now. I would totally buy a permanent blue version in the cash shop. (There's a red version too, and it gives like +8% to all stats/+10% HP and MP. However, you only get it if your guild wins Guild Rumble, and it only lasts for 45 days.)

Yeah, they had issues during the patch 1.5 weeks ago and decided to postpone part of it until today. Hopefully things go faster than planned or we can expect ~4 more hours of downtime.
In regards to my apoc set, thanks to Rusty, most of it is enhanced to some extent, and I am now as strong as I was prior to putting it on when I had my cerb stuff. I also have almost 34k HP now that I gave my tunic a suffix. Unfortunately most of the pieces need to be resparked/enhanced to +6. Only 2 pieces have suffixes as well. Got a ways to go, but a lot to upgrade.
I'm still not sure what to do.
My Engineer is about 1k lower in attack range yet dominates my Swordsman's damage hands down, but my Engineer's gear is crap and gives me mixed feelings. Not sure which to main as.
JPTheMonkey

My Engineer is getting ready to pass my SM in range. Just need another 200 or 300 phys to go, which will be easy to get if I get phys att hiddens on my wep/off-hand and a superb destructive, and get my pet revived + equips for it. I tossed my SM's weapons (+8 epic goldwing/+9 epic varnak gaunt) at Belin in an attempt to "+10 or bust" and failed, which basically told me to go engineer all the way. The downside to this method is you lose a character to run nests on, though so I don't recommend it.
As for my engineer, I bought 20k NX today with money I never expected to have until October or later, and used it on the Dark Investigator Set. My phys is now nearing 2600 and HP is 35.5k. I still have suffixes and enhancing to finish so I have much HP to gain and a lot of phys to gain.

Man, that farming update made for some server problems here in West. Lag when talking to NPCs and so on.
As farming is now, it seems to involve a lot of work to get to Level 9+ farming and cooking, which is where you are finally able to access recipes that work for level 33-40 characters. But once you get to that point, the whole system becomes very low maintenance, because all the plants that yield ingredients for said level 9+ cooking recipes take a full day or two to grow, compared to the 2 minutes - 3 hour plants that yield ingredients for all of the earlier level recipes.
Unfortunately, because of these 1-2 day plants, it's hard to find any farming space in the public areas. And for some stupid reason, the developers only let us plant one plant at a time in our private space, even though there's clearly 3 plots in there.
(I have level 10 cooking and level 11 farming.)
---
I tried to solo apoc hell without dying on my Priest earlier today. Getting past Bolty is an achievement in itself thanks to his massive light resist and healing at the last bar (not to mention that he has an instakill attack - I had to balance offense while making sure I would position myself correctly so that his hug of death targets relics instead of me).
But I died at Apocalypse when he had 1.5x bar left. I do not think it is possible for a Priest to solo Apocalypse Hell at our current cap without having level 6+ block, because Apocalypse's multi-hit map-wide judgment attack (basically instant kill to every non-Cleric class, he starts using it if you take longer than 12 or 13 minutes to kill him) comes off cooldown before my Grand Sigil comes off cooldown. While I can still survive it with Level 3 block alone, I lose about half of my HP in the process (I have 83k max), and I can only restore like 25k a minute, so it'd be better to just block the whole darned thing so that you have one less thing to worry about. And you can use Grand Sigil against the tentacles that he starts using at 2x bar instead.
I forgot to take a screenshot, but I think my last attempt took me about 1 hour to reach the point where I finally died. :/

Holy crap. That makes me not want to solo apoc hell or try to for a long time. I've stopped caring about farming/fishing/cooking for now, not to mention I started school last Wednesday and now have a ton of papers and quizzes coming up, which kills my time to play Dragon Nest.
On my end, I tried a survey for 2.2k NX in the hopes that it would work and I could revive my Poochum (Level 20) and get a nice HP/damage boost + a pet to loot for me, but the survey failed to work. Also, solo'd manti norm without dying though I came very close.

My mouse came out of the computer partway through Kirshlaval and I had no way of looking at him to see what the next attack was. All I could do was toss down turrets and quackums and alfredo and let them do all the work while watching the ground for the gravity balls of death circles. My stuff is mostly +4/5 with one piece at +6 so far, but I do have 5/7 pieces crafted. 2 Life-giving, 3 windswept. Going with Destructive weapons, but I need to gather mats still. I remembered about the Chaos Rifts earlier in the week and started getting mats for sale/crafting use from them which has helped my income a bit.

Turns out my mouse didn't "come out" but was in the process of dying. It stopped working entirely on Sunday night, so I got a new one with credit from my job. I also bought the last 20k NX I needed to finish my equips (I now have a permanent set of armor, permanent earrings, and a permanent cape, as well as a level 20 pet with permanent equips). I just need 1.8k NX every month now to maintain my optimal stats with my pet.
http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp200/isdarts22/DragonNest2012-08-1421-48-30-44.png
Apoc set is almost done being enhanced using lustres, just need off-hand (+5->+6), gloves and shoes (+4->+6 each), as well as my off-hand's suffix. As for sparks, they could be better. I want str/agi/HP on armors and phys/str/agi/crit (crit is not necessary for now but it would be a great bonus) for weapons. I also need to buy a pair of Shiny Star Fragment Rings (agi), so these stats are looking great in my opinion. They're already better than my SM's were (2800 phys or so at his best), although Avenger of Altera really helps my phys and I will drop below 2800 unless I can upgrade more than at present before it expires.
I tried soloing the grave minotaur guy in apoc for the achievement since no one does it normally, but that did not work out at all. I died twice before giving up at 1/2 a bar left. I couldn't get his health to drop any further regardless how fast I killed all the spawns; dumb AoE skills make it hard to aim at just one type of ghoul.

The key to dealing with the ghouls when fighting the skeleton minotaur at Apocalypse Nest is to use the right-click wrench. Typically weak, but effective at spacing out the ghouls far enough that I think you can just pick out the correct ghouls with your basic attack afterwards. I think using Star Burst and Bubble Trouble might help too.
Also, hope that you get the fire one when you try to solo it. You can lure the ghouls into his fire, and that helps space them out as well. Maybe you could try using Slip n' Slide and using the 'right-click when enemy is downed' attack (think it's called Ant Antagonizer) too? Although it's pretty risky thanks to its long animation.

Sea Dragon launched an instant kill attack on our aggroing Paladin, who failed to dodge it. This run was pretty much over after that, as he somehow cast Rotating Breath so fast that we couldn't outrun it.

JPTheMonkey
2012-08-22, 11:16 PM
They have that option, but I think they start at 30 day duration. It's like 3x the cost for permanent or so. It cost me about 40k NX to fully outfit my Engineer in a permanent (almost; pets expire every 30 days but can be revived at the level they expired) NX set. Armor cost $20 for a set, wings were like $6.50, earrings were like $3.00, pet was about $1.50 (to revive, $3.30 if you're just buying it), and about $4.00 for his equips. Pretty sure that's all you need to buy from the CS if you're looking for maximum stats, other than RNG games with Dragon Eggs for them special wings and shiny frag rings that add better stats than normal NX rings/wings.

Patch today.
While we're not done patching yet, something curious popped up in the patch notes. Something about a 'skill revamp'. A lot of people on the forums think Nexon is going to ninja in T4 with this update. Pretty nuts if true, and it'd catch everyone off-guard.
I can hear all the warriors crying in PvP already.
It also seems like the patch after this one will be 50 cap for sure. Most, if not all of the content here is stuff that were released after or alongside 50 cap in other versions.

Yup, Nexon did ninja T4 in with this update.
Now we have something no other version has ever done - gotten T4 with 40 cap. Lots of people are already screwing up their builds. Here are the important parts to keep in mind:
- You only need to simply learn a prerequisite skill to learn advanced skills now. No leveling required.
- You need to spend 45 SP in 1st specialization before you are allowed to learn an Ultimate skill.
- Once you learn one Ultimate skill, you can learn the other for an additional 3 SP, even if you don't meet the pre-requisites for it. However, do note that once you use one ultimate skill, both ultimates will go on CD, so in some cases, learning both isn't worth it. (The only time I'd advise getting both ultimates is if you're a Priest that's going Inquisitor or Paladin going Crusader, because Grand Sigil and Heart of Glory are too amazing to pass up.)
- Most skills that gain additional effects at a certain level (such as Mystic's Black Hole at Lv. 5 and Summon Comet at Lv. 4 getting a range increase) may no longer have the same effects at those levels. Rule of thumb is that the additional effects come at Lv. 6 now.
- Likewise, most skills gain a massive jump in effectiveness at what I like to call 'milestone levels'. Those would be Lv. 6, 11, and 16 (although Lv. 11 and 16 would only be reachable at 50 and 60 caps). What I mean by this is that a skill may only see a 5% attack increase from each level invested in it. However, from Lv. 5 to Lv. 6, that difference jumps to something like a 30% increase, then goes back to a 5% increase until Lv. 11 provides another 30% increase, and so on.
- Tumble/Sliding Step Lv. 5 is now at Level 41. Our basic evasion just got nerfed to 3 second cooldown until 50 cap. Nothing to do but to deal with it. :(
Hm... I think that's all the important points. I don't think an English T4 simulator exists yet, but this chinese one should be simple enough to use. The URLs should tell you which class you want a calculator for, and change that '60' in the white box above the calculator to 40 and click the green box next to it to set everything to 40 cap standards.
http://dn.duowan.com/t4/
I have absolutely no clue how to put my points now except the basics.
Dang.

2012-08-30, 12:41 AM
Holy dang, leveling up might be amazingly fast now.
I literally just did 1 run of Dying City Crossroads (Master mode) on my level 35 Mercenary, and after turning in the 5 or so quests associated with it, I jumped from about 40% EXP to 88%. Before, I'd have to do like 5-6 dungeon runs to achieve the same result.
EDIT: Wow, Priests are hilarious now. I'm doing in the realm of 25k+ per hit Chain Lightning (formerly 5-10k per hit), and I'm a freaking Saint build. The best part is that its cooldown was reduced to 12 seconds (formerly 20 seconds). I mean, I cast Chain Lightning, and the Manticore's head is already gone. Kinda funny seeing the game's designated support class completely stunlock one of the major bosses of the game.
Then there's Holy Burst, that Genesis-style move. Just like in MapleStory, everything in a 1 mile radius of the Priest dies. (For me, it went from about 3-4k per hit to 8-10k per hit.)
And on top of that, my Healing Relics now heal like 10k per pulse (formerly 3.5k), my Aura of Healing heals like 20k now (formerly 8k), my Cure Relic can be out almost indefinitely with a Cure Relic CD plate thanks to its duration being increased to 18 seconds and CD being reduced to 25 seconds (formerly 45 second CD, and the light attack buff it gives now lasts 18 seconds, compared to 4 from before), and Blessing of Strikes now directly increases everyone's damage range instead of just being like +20% to our skills. It's just... Wow.
Priests were clearly the most buffed class in T4. Inquisitor build Priests especially can definitely be considered a DPS class now.
Oh, and my Mercenary is now Level 40. Leveling is just so fast now, it's like 5x faster. I only had to run about 2-3 dungeons per level. It only took me two hours of pure questing to go from 36-40.

Agreed about leveling, it somehow became ridiculously easy. Just got my swordsman from 35-40 in a few hours today.
EDIT: I'm guessing double posting isn't allowed here, so... I was wondering, now that i'm level 40 on my main. What should I do to get gear and what stats should I focus on? I see tons of screenshots with people having 3-5k physical damage/magical damage as swordsman, but I only have 1.5k physical and around 1.2k magical so far. I understand that having epic set items makes a huge difference, but what exactly should I focus on for now? I also see people with like 50-70k hp and I have only like 27k so far.
They have Apocalypse/Manticore sets, sparked with their main stat + vit/hp, etc.

Yeah, there's a massive downside to this ridiculously fast leveling - you won't be able to gather enough Average Onyx to enhance all your Level 40 rare/blue gear to a decent level (9+) unless you have ridiculous luck. My level 40 Mercenary is the poorest geared of all of my level 40 characters (which is all classes except for Swordsman and Paladin by now, I had too much free time) because of this. He's stuck with level 24/32 gear and can't even go through Apocalypse/Manticore Nest.
On top of that, the recent hit to no-PWR drop rate makes it very difficult to farm for the Onyx (or anything, really) to enhance your gear after hitting Level 40, since you can only run like 4 Master mode solos before running out of PWR and getting everything reduced to 20% of original drop rate (compared to something like 30+ solos before hitting Level 40).
My advice? Try running Level 32+ dungeons on Master to gather up as much Average Onyx as you can for enhancing and gifts for people in the Royal Court faction, or Level 24-32 dungeons on Abyss.
If gathering gifts on Master, the reason why you want to gift only to people in the Royal Court faction is so that you can use the Royal Court faction points to purchase Epic Average Spark pouches from Honest Ed, which can sell for quite a bit (or you can use them for yourself) if you manage to unbind them. Obviously Epic Average Diamond Sparks are the most valuable.
If Abyss, hope that you find a Royal Chest (a jeweled chest that has about 10% chance of appearing in any dungeon, in a set location depending on the dungeon, that usually spits out a lot of gold and some rare-rank equipment. However, if you find one in Abyss mode, it also spits out TONS of lustre and an epic spark if you're lucky). If not, hope that the dungeon boss drops an epic spark, and also hope that you get a Golden Dimensional Rabbit at the end that drops a useful plate.
The reason why you want to run 24-32 dungeons on Abyss instead of 32-40 dungeons is because with your current stats, you probably can't handle 32+ Abyss dungeons, and the plates that Golden Dimension Rabbits spit out in 32+ dungeons aren't anywhere near as valuable or useful as those in the 24-32 dungeons. In fact, the market's oversaturated with 32+ epic plates because of all the people grinding at Desolation Point, and you probably only see a specific 24-32 epic skill plate on the market like three times a week, at least here in West.
For example, you'd probably want a Halfmoon Slash or Line Drive epic plate, right? They only drop from gold rabbits in 24-32 Abyss dungeons, and you've probably noticed how much they cost, if there are any in the market...
Oh, a good place to start working on your stats is to find Brutal (physical)/Wise (magic) Silver earrings or necklaces, preferably two-statted instead of three. You'll know what I mean once you look at the stats of each piece on the market. As for rings, you'd probably want Destructive (physical), Mystical (magical), or Fatal (critical hit rate, some physical, vitality for slightly higher HP).
I'd normally suggest Windswept earrings or necklaces too, except T4 nerfed Critical hits (formerly 1.25x damage while ignoring all enemy defense, now 2x damage while still accounting for enemy defense, which makes the new change weaker against enemies that have more than 45% damage reduction, which is almost every boss in the Level 40 nests). Windswept accessories are also rather overpriced thanks to all of the Engineers + the new Archer bandwagon thanks to T4, since they all use agility as their main stat.
Loving the leveling speed now. I got my Moonlord from 32 to 40 today, and still had plenty of PWR to spare, and an asston of quests. I actually overleveled the quests; at 40 I still had plenty of 34~36 quests, so wasn't even started on the 37~39 yet.
All I have left is my Paladin and Mercenary, with my Mercenary going first. I always leave Paladin for last as it's pretty sluggish I'd rather he get the exp bonus from my other 4 characters for him to speed up the process.

Which is why I detest the PWR-drop-rate change.
They made it amazingly easy to level up now, which is good, but they punish you for it at the same time once you hit the level cap.

Kind of have to agree in someways considering im pretty sure everyone is waiting for the level cap to finally be raised with newer dungeons.

There's nothing really.
The English DN community has never been organized as far as information goes; not even those who play in foreign servers. You would have to search a few different sites to compare builds and information. MMOSite's DN forums, the official forums, etc are places you could try checking out, but again, you aren't going to find everything neatly listed in any one location.

I'm interested in trying out Dragon Nest. What would be a DN South Perry equivalent site for reading up on skill builds, class differences (There's two paths for each advancement from what I can tell.), and such?
Yeah, for the most part, we'd have to explain everything ourselves. The more organized English DN communities died out earlier in the year. As in, the sites are completely gone.
On top of that, there was a major skill revamp recently known as T4, and there's no english skill simulator for that. (DN's updating rate is rather mixed. We tend to get updates such as skill tweaks within 2-3 months of them being made in the Korean version, even if they weren't made with our current level cap in mind. Hell, just about all of the content we got in our latest patch was made with 50 cap in mind, while we are still at the level 40 cap.)
These are the classes. I'll explain the basic class, but if you want to hear more about the second and third specialization classes, ask. I've played every class but two (Paladin and Swordsman) up to Level 40.
Be aware that there is a gender lock. This game treats the various classes as actual characters, rather than something generic.
- Male: Cleric and Warrior
- Female: Archer, Sorceress, and Tinkerer
---
Archer: Archers as a whole have low HP, but more skills that grant them invincibility frames than any other class. They have great single-target DPS, with a naturally high critical hit rate. Their standard 'wake-up' skill (get up when grounded) also grants the longest invincibility frames of all the classes.
- Sharpshooter (ranged Longbow/Crossbow) -> Sniper (physical) or Artillery (magical)
- Acrobat (melee Shortbow) -> Tempest (raw damage) or Wind Walker (mobility)
Cleric: Clerics have the highest HP and defenses in the game (in a game where defense actually matters), but they lack a 'Power Tumble' skill to help them escape knockdown -> ground combos once they are forced into one, but they have the ability to block attacks at the cost of interrupting whatever they're doing. Their DPS is also typically the lowest of all classes, but they are the most reliable healers and tankers.
- Paladin (balanced Mace/Flail) -> Crusader (magical DPS) or Guadian (physical tanking)
- Priest (magic Wand) -> Inquisitor (lightning DPS) or Saint (relic/buff support)
Sorceress: Sorceresses are great crowd-clearers, and offer amazing offensive support through inflicting a wide variety of status effects (in a game where status effects and debuffs work on almost everything in the game, along with effects stacking with each other). Their HP and defenses are comparable to that of Archers, but have far higher MP. They have three different off-hand weapons (Grimoire, Orb, Puppet), but they don't affect anything other than their left-click attack.
- Elementalist (fire/ice magic) -> Saleana/Pyromancer (Fire DPS) or Elestra/Ice Witch (Ice crowd control)
- Mystic (dark gravity/laser magic) -> Majesty/Chaos Mage (Dark crowd control) or Smasher/War Mage (neutral DPS/support)
Warriors: Warriors have the second highest HP and defenses in the game, but the lowest MP. They are the most mobile class in the game, with the ability to dash across the battlefield at double speed (although they can only use a few attacks while dashing). They have the easiest time interrupting enemy attacks, and they have several support debuffs and buffs as well. Like Clerics though, they lack a 'power tumble' skill, but their skills have naturally high Super Armor (not being interrupted while attacking).
- Swordsman (greatsword) -> Gladiator (physical close combat) or Moon Lord/Lunar Knight (magical AoE)
- Mercenary (axe/hammer) -> Barbarian (multi-hit DPS/debuff) or Destroyer (single-hit interruption/buff)
Academic/Tinkerer: Tinkerers are a newer class, and a bit of an odd one. They are the only female class without a 'Power Tumble' skill, but their basic evasion skill gives them further distance compared to the others. Their HP and defenses are comparable to that of a Sorceress. Offensively, they're sort of a jack of all trades with a ton of summons (if Engineer) or massive AoEs (if Alchemist) thrown in the mix, along with several skills to trip up opponents.
- Engineer (physical Cannon) -> Shooting Star (direct cannon skills) or Gear Master (robotic summoner)
- Alchemist (magical Bubble Blaster) -> Adept (fire/ice DPS) or Physician (dark/light support)
Be aware that the Tinkerer's story assumes that you've played one of the other four characters up to the end of the Level 40 main quests. Her story can spoil what happens to the others towards their Level 38-40 main quest as early as around level 25. If you're the type of person that cares about the story, the Tinkerer should not be your first character.
(I wouldn't advise having the Tinkerer as your first character regardless. Their fighting style and skill design is nothing like the other classes, and they can die very, very easily.)

Second specialization can be accessed at Level 15, and the decision is permanent. Third specialization is accessed at Level 45, and the decision can be changed through the use of an NX job change scroll, but second specialization content isn't available in our version yet, since our current level cap is 40.
Leveling is very, very fast in this game, so don't feel as if you only have to pick one. Questing gives the most EXP in this game. Quest when you can, because questing is now far faster than straight-up dungeon grinding, and the writing in this game is something amazing anyways.
(I made a Priest in the East servers about 5 days ago, and he's already Level 39... I only have to dungeon like 2-3 times in order to level up now, compared to pre-patch 6-9+ times.)

So I just logged on today for the skill update (because I'm a Slowpoke like that) to find that I'm stuck on my mount. My hotkeys were reset and I cannot find my mount in the Mount & Pets tab (I has the permanent fire horse). :(
EDIT: Nevermind, found it. o.O Anyways, I've been out of the loop since the Manticore/Apocalypse patch. Has farming for resources gotten less grindy?

Farming for materials to make nest pieces has become far, FAR less grindy. You're pretty much guaranteed two blue mats at the end chest of every normal mode nest now. The chance that you could outright get a nest equip set piece from a gold chest at the results screen seems to have been boosted way up too, along with said gold chests handing out epic sparks as well. In West, each blue mat is only worth like 50-150 gold now, compared to 300+ about three months ago.
Unfortunately, with the new Hybrid FTG system, grinding for stuff like Average Onyx pretty much requires that you have PWR now. Drop rates fall to 20% of what they originally were if you have no PWR. Fortunately, you only consume about 30 PWR per dungeon run if your character is Level 1-39, but PWR consumption rate is back to normal at Level 40. It's likely that PWR consumption rate will be reduced from 1-49 once Level 50 cap is out.
EDIT: I just found out that as of the latest patch, Nexon reinstated crude approval stamps being able to unbind level 32 and below skill plates. That's why skill plate prices have been dropping like a rock. (Incidentally, crude approval stamps work on horse badges as well. If you are lucky enough to have one drop in a Hell mode nest.)
It's almost time for the beginning of a new era; watch... ALL THE PRICES RISE!

Maintenance took all of yesterday.
As compensation, everyone got like 15 Goddess Teardrops, 5 magnifying glasses, and 2 Dragon Eggs.
That's ALL characters.

Sell it on MP for a price so high that no one else will grab it, have your Engineer buy it, go back on your SM and mail the money back to your Engineer afterwards. :D
