I dont know how, I dont know why, but my onboard video driver is gone.
Now, usually the logical answer to this would be to identify my motherboard and google up a driver for it... There is however, several oddities.
While my video driver for onboard video is now apparently gone, my computer still has perfectly fine picture. The only problem is, any games i play require my video driver information to work, unfortunatley including MapleStory.
Another oddity, is that I downloaded a program that detects the name and manufacturer of your motherboard along with other information (forget the name beforehand, but i have friends that have tried it to their satisfaction) so I would be able to hunt down driver downloads. Here is where it gets really screwed up- The name and manufacturer of my motherboard came up as BLANK. why would this happen, when the only driver that is missing is my onboard video? This is what is perplexing me.
The guy who custom built this computer built it rather crappily out of old, cheap parts because my dad didn't want a very powerfull computer and needed it cheap, because all he does is email and banking... However he may still have my driver installation CDs. My dad, however, is a killer beast from hell, and will kill me if he discovers what ive done, even though it effects him in no way. This means that calling the man that built this machine to get the driver installation CD back is an absolute last option, because this will alert my dad to my activities.
Ask away any other questions you need to to help me solve this problem, please! Im looking for any other way to identify my motherboard and find the drivers I need to download and install, so I can reinstall the drivers and get back into Maple!

Hmm, I'm assuming you have an intel graphics chipset (As I don't know of any others). Try this page (http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/inf/sb/CS-009269.htm). Open the side of your tower and look at the chip.
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/inf/Img/810.jpg
Look at the second line on the chip (in the example it's "fw82810"). On the intel page, match the number with the number under "Memory Controller Hub (MCH)". (The example matches a "Intel® 810 Chipset"). Go here (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx) when you find out the kind of chipset, search for the driver here. Good luck.

Always read the stickies first. (http://www.southperry.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2516)

you can also find it in the bios if the sticky doesn't help.

I bolded the section that is the problem.
not only is this odd, it looks like my original diagnosis was wrong o_O. Oh well, it was a good guess for someone relativley new to indepth tech issues.
EDIT: Success! Took forever, but I finally found the driver I need for this shit old motherboard.
I should have just checked that sticky in the first place lol, CrystalMark is my savior.
