<Posted on SW for help, no luck, thought I'll give it a shot here, since most of the intelligent people moved to here:f3:>

Hi there,

Since Wednesday 18th June MapleStory had a System Maintenance.

But after that system maintenance or server check, I have been experiencing this weird lag that I never had before.

It would suddenly happen; on my side of the screen, I would not be able to use any buffs nor attacks, I see monsters moving around me, people around me killing monsters in my party, I see thier damages, the monster dying and spawning, I see people talking in chat, I see party buffs being rebuffed on my screen, I even leech exp and see my exp bar go up in %s.

However, I cannot type back to them and attack, they would see me lag in a spot. Sometimes I would un-lag, and I know this buy using my pet to loot piles of etc items, and when I un-lag it looks like my pet is vaccing all the drops where ever the pet has been.

At first I thought it maybe my internet speed, but I Skype everyday back in the past, and it didnt even lag me at all.

Maybe it's my upload rate? But I dont think so...

Well heres the result of my speedtest.net:
4700 kb/s
150 to 350 kb/s (Between that lately)
Around 70 Ping lately (Use to be 38 I remember)

I have uninstalled MS, reformatted thinking there was something wrong with my laptop, but the lag still occurs.

Also, a friend of mine also has this weird lag very rarely, we are from Europe also.

A thought is, do you think it's Maple servers? I heard they have new servers since that System Maintence. (Might explain all those channel crashes recently?):f7:

Thanks in advance, to those who have an idea what the problem is and can lend a helping hand.

It sounds like your connection to the Nexon servers isn't working right.

You may want to contact your ISP and have them take a look at things, make sure your internet is working fine.

Also, if there's any other online games that you've played, try running them for a while and see if you get the same issue.

Last thing--are you connecting to the internet wirelessly?

Try rebooting your router or turning it off for a couple of hours. Also, do a virus scan, it might be a trojan.

Try cleaning out the dust where the fan is in your laptop. That might help a bit too. I had some wierd lag as well, though not the same as yours. My FPS would randomly go from 60 - 70, down to 1 and i was unable to do anything. Turns out there was a bit of dust causing my laptop to overheat, once cleaned that out its worked fine again since.

Begin by first signing on to AOL as normal. Minimise the AOL software by clicking the _ button in the top right hand corner of the screen.
On the left of your screen, you should see an Internet Explorer icon - a blue 'e'. Double click this to start Internet Explorer. This will bring you straight to your home page.
If you do not have an icon on your desktop for Internet Explorer, try looking in the Start menu (Click Start, select Programs/All Programs and click Internet Explorer).
Once Internet Explorer is opened, click on Help on the Internet Explorer toolbar, and then click on About Internet Explorer.
An About Internet Explorer window will now open. Check that the Cipher Strength = 128-bit. If not please click on (Update Information). This will open the Microsoft Internet Explorer High Encryption Pack update web page. You will need to download and install this pack to adjust the Cipher Strength to 128-bit.
Once you have completed this step, you should launch AOL again and see if the problem is solved.

If the Cipher Strength is anything less then 128-bit, then you can download the Internet Explorer High Encryption Pack to your computer's hard disk, and then install it.

Once you have completed this step, you should launch AOL again and see if the problem is solved. If the problem persists, please continue with the next step.

Try rebooting your router or turning it off for a couple of hours. Also, do a virus scan, it might be a trojan.

I took your advice and rebooted my router for a few minutes, it does work for a bit but I still get it randomly ;P Maybe I should turn it off when I sleep >< And nah, I dont think I have trojans because my computer is protected when it started o.O

I had a similar problem actually. If I were to enter a map with no one else in the map before i got to it, I would have a long lag, then disconnect. This started happening immediately after Nexon's System Maintenance. Even with someone in the map though, I would lag out after about 20-30minutes. Nothing I could do to my computer would fix it. Scanned for viruses/spyware, defragmented, system restored, updated Windows/drivers, ran disc cleaners, and eventually reformatted. After having sent Nexon 2 tickets to ask for their help, I gave up and decided it was time for a new computer anyway, seeing as mine was 5 years old as it was. I was running XP, 1GB RAM, 512MB nVidia Geforce 8500 graphics card, and am on broadband. The first reply from Nexon was a huge list of problems people had with patch .56, but my problem wasn't listed so I sent the next ticket. This time they told me to read their FAQ, and thats all. Their FAQ contains nothing that would help.
I do believe it has something to do with Nexon's servers, but they didn't seem to care too much when I was trying to get help from them.
