I have reason to suspect that in the future Piercing's delay will be reduced further:
(1) In the Piercing skill data, the "effect" animation's delay was reduced by 50 ms to 450ms.
(2) A new delay class, "piercing", was added. The delay is 390 ms. The delay class is not currently attached to any skills.

Believe so, Status Resistance last I checked was asrR whereas Elemental is terR. That means 15% Elemental Resistance.
Peircing Arrow hitting twice is pretty awesome and logical.
Once when entering the mob and then once upon exiting. :wink:

1) Expected nerf to bowmasters. -40% damage on AFA, but a total of 850 arrows now? 183,500% now vs 185,000% before. Honestly, not as much of a nerf as i was expecting.
2) What is the terR variable added to spirit link? Edit: Elemental resistance to fire for BMs and ice for MMs? Makes sense, not sure how much it will help though. Empresses strongest attack iirc is her fire birds, so i guess it'll come in handy there at least.
3) What's the point of making snipe 2 hits if it can break the damage cap? Still, that's a REALLY nice buff to pierce. Doesn't change the issues joetang expressed last thread though.
I'm not sure if I like the piercing changes:
(1) DPulse and Piercing lose their synergy somewhat
(2) Piercing gains more damage the more mobs it pierces. Reducing the number of mobs reduces the amount of damage dealt. So this is an indirect nerf.
However, it also means that Piercing won't be smacking against the damage ceiling all the time. That's at least one positive here.

To be fair making it hit 8 mobs was kind of unnecessary since pulse can only mob 6. 8 mobs seems kind of rare to me.
Also, can it not still break the damage cap?

Kenta in danger and prison break (new PQs) are 120-200. The third is till level 69. The rest are pretty much available within a certain job advancement (OPQ is 70-119 for example), while the better PQs are now for 4th job (Rex PQ is 120-200, thank god)
Needless to say it will be significantly harder to get the PQ medal after this change. Better do that now.

I'm not so sure its even a nerf. Those extra 50 arrows mean another 32.5 crits with SE (37.5 with a 10% crit ring), meaning 32.5 arrows do 220*1.5 rather than just 220. So its 220*0.5*32.5 = 3575% extra DPM.

Going off the map data in the previous extraction thread, this Prison Break is a PQ that seems to be associated with LHC. Notice how that knight during Ani runs always mentions something about Ani being a Prison Guard and that there are villagers locked up in deeper areas. Perhaps now we'll actually free the villagers ourselves.

padX is a passive weapon attack boost. It's also upset that BMs also get AFA when Heroes were the first to get it. I'm really hoping KMS has a good explaination instead of giving the class a different skill. Now for the interesting question:
Is this the first skill (other than Maple Warrior) in which the mastery books are shared between two jobs of a completely different class?

Oh, interesting. Never took the time to read Luden's story before Ani runs. Though it does make sense. I guess Ice Knight will explain wth ice knight is in pvp>.>

I suppose that's true. I haven't kept up with Empress too much. All I recall was how impossible it was to beat, and then a team did beat it but was kicked out for hacking or something on a legit run. I'm still not positive on the HP values of the summons.

It's entirely possible (trust me when i say this) and it's been beaten in KMS several times supposedly.

I would assume that the problem is with the skill readout as opposed to the actual effect.
Try using a skill with it activated and see if it actually reduces MP cost by 25% or 20%.
Spirit Link's resistance bonus is applicable to all elements.
Nothing about AFA has changed except for the fact that AFA arrows aren't stronger than Hurricane Arrows anymore. 3083.3 -> 3058.3
An unnoticeable 25%/s decrease. I'm interested in the Pierce changes. Hopefully, we can get solid statistics about the charge time. I know it took us until we had Big Bang on Tespia to get the charge time for Pierce.

I love it. Although nothing appears novel (see: DRPQ, El Nath/H PQs, JQs, EFPQ, PPQ), the rewards are great and there's just enough mixing and matching among the aforementioned PQs to give something fresh. The balance between time spent and reward is better than what I expected (I'm looking at you HobPQ and especially at you Shammos).
Finally! Monsters in the water that swim, sure it's nothing more than DRPQ and flying monsters with dips, but it's long overdue.
Always saw MMs as a class that hits hard with a single hit, but these tweaks are making things wierd here and there. Maybe it's just me though o.o
I also have a few questions though. I know the new skills have new skillIDs, but what about the books? In the other thread though, I see nothing new or modded except for mastery books that has 100% success rates. Would existing skill books get changed to work with them? So would it be wise to keep all the frostprey,phoenix, concentrate,dragonbreath, etc books?

The Korean earlier in this thread was correct. My scripts did not output a change due to a checksum collision. I'll be getting that fixed...

Since big bang. It stacks now in GMS. Sadly it can get dispelled though, hope they change that for jump.

It's never been dispelled for me. I noticed that like a day or two after Big Bang came out while I was at Horned Tail, I spammed in caps for a couple seconds.

My main concern is for Marksmen. It was stated in the last Archer update that BMs destroy Marksmen in 1v1 DPS. I'm not sure why BMs need more boosts to 1v1 DPS when a Marksmen is only better at mobbing. Until they release a boss that has multiple bodies (I'm speaking of KMS, not GMS and CWK), I'm not seeing Marksmen being nearly as much help at a boss other than for Sharp Eyes.

All have multiple "bodies".
All have summons.

Really, the only thing it does, is give Marksmen more DPS. Can't really complain, it just looks awkward when there's 2 hits for 1 arrow...

When PB summons, he gets a bunch of little mini pb's that quickly fly up and away, and as soon as they take damage they begin their casting of wep.cancel so by the time you get pierce charged, they'll either be out of the way or have w.cancel up, most of the time. Not sure if it still counts toward the multiplier though, if it goes through a monster with weapon cancel.

GPQ was pretty creative =D. But yeah it's pretty much true. But realistically how much can you REALLY do for 2D side scroller with many many other PQS already.

Affluent Tower Party Quest
Overview:
Location-Masteria, Top of the Affluent Tower. An electric current will take players to the PQ area. Only available if players have the 'Tower Key' from quests involving John Barricade, Professor Foxwit, and Icebyrd Slimm.
Story- Quest chain starts from Icebyrd in NLC. He says he finds a strange electrical orb that he asks you to take to John Barricade. John tells you he does not know what it is so he asks you to show Professor Foxwit. Professor Foxwit will tell you that it has something to do with activating the Affluent Tower. He asks you to bring Turbo Chargers(quest item) which drop from Electrophants and bring them to him in which he can create a key that will power the electric current. Once you bring the required materials to Foxwit he will hand you the Tower Key(A device created by Professor Foxwit. It seems to have a strong reaction to electricity). Using the key to talk to a new NPC on the tower(Tower Keeper) will cause your key to react in which you will be transported to the top of the tower where you enter a secret doorway. Inside players find a series of maps and electric currents and some new monsters fitting this theme. Players will reach a lobby like area in which there will be portals leading to various monster maps based on levels. One room will lead to the PQ waiting area.
The PQ- The party quest will have different levels will be for levels 70-200 but will require a couple level 100 players to fight the boss. There can be up to 12 people in one PQ there must be at least 6 to start. In the PQ waiting area an NPC called Anroid-T201 will be waiting. Here you will sign up and proceed onward with the PQ. The goal of the PQ is to stop a rouge Android who's causing very dangerous electric currents to harm and damage the tower and threatens to destroy NLC. (If you die inside the PQ you will be revived inside as well.) Time limit is 2 hours.
Stage 1-The party quest begins once all members enter. Using team work you must navigate fields of electricity. 2 party members must reach the main power source at the end to turn off the fields. 4 party members must activate(by hitting) a series of switches to turn off various electric fields for safe navigation. Once the main power is turned off you may continue on to the next stage.
Stage 2- A hoard of androids will attack you! One player, while the rest of his team fights, must find a power switch to the android factory and turn it off. Once the switch is off the players must destroy the rest of the androids to move on.
Stage 3- T-201 contacts you and tells you he detects a very powerful current heading your way! Find an exit! Using team work search for an exit. Once you find it you may move on to the next stage.
Stage 4- 3 party members(if there is 12 people the parties will be separated) must use team work to navigate through one of two challenges. Challenge one will poise a series of monsters in which must be fought until your other members (unknowingly) turn off a switch at the end of a jump quest full of monsters. Once both teams reunite T-201 says the main door is opening and he senses a powerful force. It's time to fight the boss!

What makes this design innovative?
What I believe makes this design innovative is that it requires much more team work than other party quests. It also adds on to the long awaited Masteria Expansions. It adds a new flare to the game and new areas that both high and low levels can enjoy. It adds a new type of item thats scarce in MapleStory at the moment as well as a new boss and new monsters. I believe it would really excite the players to have a Masteria Expansion as well as a new Party Quest to go with it.
Requirements and restrictions: Players must complete the quests pertaining to the Affluent tower from iceByrd Slimm, John Barricade, and Professor Foxwit and must be level 70 and above. The Party Quest can be completed 3 times a day and must have at least 6 people to start.

My bad. Corrected. Should have been an 'm'.
That said, remember that Pierce hits twice now.
So, while it's harder to reach max damage with the first hit, the maximum you can hit on the last monster is now double i.e. 4.96m.

You could still hit multiple body parts or multiple statues at HT/PB, respectively.

For the 3 atk face accessory you should add 1 more 0 onto the health and probably tack another 7k+ to each of the atk's. Sounds pretty good though.

As for horntail, its much better to kill off summons and then go back to 1v1 attacks than to try to focus the pierce to hit mobs + horntail. Chances are, the summons will die after a couple of hits anyways, so it's still not as efficient as our 1v1 attacks.
Pierce is good on paper, yes, but with real uses, it does have its flaws.
If we get hit and try to fire a pierce it breaks. If we're going to spend the time to charge and shoot after getting hit, it would have been more efficient to use our 1v1 attacks that automatically registers with the press of a button.
We can fire off 3+ ultimate strafes in most instances instead of using pierce.
If pierce does get a charging reduction and 750%x2, it would help but the above problems still exist.
So the bigger problem is about the uses and efficiency that needs to be fixed. If they fixed the problems stated above and made it go back to a single 1150%, that's still way better than just giving pierce a damage boost.
As for the guy saying nexon is stupid, its not easy to balance two classes let alone all the classes. The fact that they are making balance patches the best they can proves that they want to make the game as balances as possible. You must give credit where its due.

For example, even the ability to hit multiple parts at Horntail is negated by the general practice (unless it's changed - I haven't been to HT in forever) of taking down specific parts to avoid icky status effects.

I'll agree. I don't like charging skills as they are now since they're so easily beaten out by spammable skills (especially if damage can negate a charge).
From what you described, it sounds like it'd even be better to straight-forward nerf the %-damage and get rid of a charge-time altogether.

Also, we already know she wasn't just some generic filler character. Spadow stated in his blog that stirred up this whole Archer hero thing for us that the press release from Nexon Korea for the video stated she was a new character. It seems rather obvious that she's related to the hero storyline if not the hero herself.
I too would like to see the original source of the other heroes being out by year's end, since that seems to be at the moment just something that was spread around the Maple community without spreading the source too. I certainly wouldn't doubt it though, given that we still have a little over 6 months left in the year.

That said, "traditionally", elves are also magic users, a trait completely absent in Maplestory.
Also, we already know she wasn't just some generic filler character. Spadow stated in his blog that stirred up this whole Archer hero thing for us that the press release from Nexon Korea for the video stated she was a new character.
If a character has not been seen before, it is a new character.
A new character can be a filler character. Even Valerie, the pirate, is a generic, filler character whose only purpose in the game is as the third singer on-stage for whatever event KMS has going on.
You're making logical leaps that simply are not there.
It seems rather obvious that she's related to the hero storyline if not the hero herself.

Or a new event character. But I think that the archer double jump heralds the release of a new hero, with a flash jump-like skill that looks twice as flashy.

That said, I have yet to see the entirety of the press release even linked, yet alone translated, and people are going crazy because some dude with a blog said one sentence that was summarized without context.

I want to take a moment to point out that she could easily be a "fairy" since she appears to have wings at one point. Elves aren't the only mystical creatures with pointed ears.
And whether or not Maple "breaks tradition" is, in fact, important, because it means that carrying over presumptions from other universes is dangerous.

There is Aran and Lilin, two characters from the same hero storyline.
Leading them is Cygnus, and joining them is Valerie, a generic pirate character who was given a name simply for a musical event.

Sorry if this has been posted before, but Lord Pirate PQ requires Lv. 70+ and has a recommended level of 30~69?
Those "revamped" PQs are actually pretty nice though.

Rewards aside am I the only one who thinks those two new PQ’s are pretty terrible? They look like something whipped together on a private sever. After having an 8th anniversary you would expect them to produce something far less bland than essentially kill mobs, move on to next map. Then at the end they didn’t even bother to make a new boss for each PQ, they just reused two old ones.

That was almost a year ago, though. Seems like plans have changed.

Just no reason to assume everything is a sign of a new hero.
And, while the Resistance classes came out within a very close time period, it would be a big change of pace to release three heroes in six months, especially considering the fact that we have two more Adventurer branches that need a Jump-equivalent.

I like the reward items, it's been too long that we've been getting crappy rewards from the boss. A wAtt belt and glasses are something that most players can't get without a lot of funding or luck.
I do not think that the archer hero will be released next, purely because there are no signs of the release. On the other hand, the new NPCs signal something important for the Pirate class, possibly either the hero or the Pirate balancing, or both.

The thought that it would be an archer hero just goes with the "pattern of classes". With the IDS being layed out 1,2,3,4,5 with 3 being archer. Who knows

Kenta in Danger Party Quest (120~200)
One of three new party quests added in this patch! It is similar to the Moon Bunny’s Rice Cake party quest in that you have to protect Kenta from various monsters. However, there are a couple of hunting stages before that, and a boss stage after that. Or should I say bosses? You must defeat both Left and Right Pianus, at the same time! The good thing is that you can get 2 Pianus Scales, halving the amount of party quests you must do to get an elusive eye accessory!
Kenta’s Goggles (100 Pianus’ Scales) – level 80, 5 to all stats
60% str/dex/int/luk Scroll for Pet Equipment (10 Pianus’ Scales, random)
Prison Break Party Quest (120~200)
Another new party quest in which you and your party try to escape from this prison! This consists of a couple of jump quests, hunting, and sneaking in to Guard Ani’s room to fight him. You can get these items:
Max Van Leon Belt (50 Guard’s Keys) – level 120, 7 str/dex and 2 attack
Alma Van Leon Belt (50 Guard’s Keys) – level 120, 7 int/luk and 2 magic attack
Pax Van Leon Belt (50 Guard’s Keys) – level 120, 7 str/dex and 2 attack
Nox Van Leon Belt (50 Guard’s Keys) – level 120, 7 dex/luk and 2 attack
Cora Van Leon Belt (50 Guard’s Keys) – level 120, 7 str/dex and 2 attack
There's also information about all the updated PQs and various new things added in the patch.

Another thing that changed was the medal inventory, as you can see. It’s now filled with pretty pictures of your medals. What’s so special about this you say? Well, get ready to throw all your medals away~ With this new system, you can now receive a medal you have gotten before just by double clicking it here and paying a small fee. More inventory space for all!

Yea, it records all the medals you thrown away. Luckily you can still wear em. Not sure about event medals.
