Other Changes:
- They redid how mob attacks are laid out in the WZ files. It's so... beautiful. :f2: - This will make parsing mob attacks MUCH easier!
- New MapMarks were added - kentaInDanger, prisonBreak
- There's a new unicorn pet. It's a lavender color.
- There's a new title screen bgm. Haha, listening to it reminded me of Boston - More Than A Feeling (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSR6ZzjDZ94) (just the intro).

이번 패치에서는 다음과 같은 사항이 수정, 추가되었습니다.


<게임 관련>
1. 모험가 계열 궁수 직업군과 윈드브레이커의 스킬이 개편되었습니다.
- 이와 관련해서 게임에 접속하는 모든 모험가 계열 궁수 직업군과 윈드브레이커 캐릭터에게
<SP 초기화 주문서 3장>을 지급해 드립니다.
s SP 초기화 주문서는 더블 클릭하여 사용할 수 있으며, 사용 시 지금까지 분배했던 SP 포인트가
모두 되돌려집니다.
s 캐릭터 접속 시 소비 인벤토리로 지급되며, 인벤토리가 가득 차있어 주문서를 받지 못한 경우
소비 인벤토리 정리 후 재접속하면 지급받을 수 있습니다.
s SP 초기화 주문서는 지급받은 순간부터 2주일 이내에 사용해야 하며,

9. 아이템팟 알리미가 추가되었습니다.
- 아이템팟 생명체의 상태가 변하면 화면 왼쪽에 두 종류의 알리미가 나타납니다.
- 아이템팟 생명체가 병에 걸리거나 배가 고플 때, 말라 버렸을 때, 그리고 잠에서 깨어 났을 때는
빨간색 느낌표가 표시된 알리미가 나타납니다.
- 아이템팟 생명체가 모두 성장하여 보상을 획득할 수 있으면 반짝이는 알리미가 나타납니다.
- 화면 좌측의 알리미를 클릭하여 바로 아이템팟 창을 띄울 수 있습니다.

10. 크리세 지역의 입장 조건이 기존의 55레벨 이상 70레벨 이하에서 50레벨 이상 70레벨 레벨 이하
로 변경되었습니다.
이에 따라 크리세에서 진행할 수 있는 퀘스트들의 레벨 조건도 50레벨 이상 70레벨 이하로 함께 변

Looking at each detail... Night Lords are seemingly becoming more and more obsolete each time... D:

Hopefully we'll get something unique when our turn comes,whatever it is, because now almost everyone has a decent movement skill, self-healing skill, avoidability enhanced, and defensive measures...

Nontheless, Archers do seem amazing with these changes, it looks exactly the stuff they needed.

@Fiel (above), the patch notes say Phoenix and Frostprey were moved from 4th job to 3rd job, and had their max levels lowered from 30 to 20.

- Phoenix (3rd): 3rd skill have been changed as a master level has been adjusted from 30 to 20.
- Freezer (3rd): 3rd skill have been changed as a master level has been adjusted from 30 to 20.

Ah, that makes sense then.

For the patch notes it reads that it was moved to third job. But according to the data it looks like "ADD PHOENIX TO 3RD JOB, REMOVE PHOENIX FROM 4TH JOB". No wonder it looked funny. Data-based skill changes coming rrrrrrright up!

Given Elite Puppet's description, it appears to work like Meso Guard or Magic Guard, where it will absorb a portion of the damage done to you. It will also attack enemies like Wild Hunter's Trap.
Illusion Staff (I must be reading this wrong) adds DEX and evade (I had it say Agility in my translation, which I should have known better). Whether the evade is a multiplier to your avoid stat, or is its own chance to dodge like Fake is unknown, but I feel it more likely to be an avoid bonus.

Well, looks like we'll all wait and see how good Elite Puppets is.

Things that stand out to me in Joe's post are:

-Double Jump for all Bowman.
-Concentrate for all Bowman now (excludes WH's).
-Dragon's Breath is MM only now; changed to 3rd job, but what impact does it bring when ranged classes have minimum range/MM has AE?
-Drain Arrow is BM only.

Well, looks like we'll all wait and see how good Elite Puppets is.

Things that stand out to me in Joe's post are:

-Double Jump for all Bowman.
-Concentrate for all Bowman now.
-Dragon's Breath is MM only now; changed to 3rd job, but what impact does it bring when ranged classes have minimum range/MM has AE?
-Drain Arrow is BM only.

Dragon Breath is useful to Marksmen since they have Pierce. It would be otherwise impossible to get a large cluster of monsters without any rushing skills and Blizzard freezing them.

And I think the new skill in 4th job is called Illusion Stab, which still doesn't really make sense, but makes more sense than Staff.

Ah, true. That makes sense. I first thought of maybe using IA to aggro, but DB is way better since it rush monsters horizontally either way.

edit: skill tables say it is based off range, 350% at max, pretty good imo but similar attack delay to AM summons. wouldn't that make it an extra factor in their overall dps if it could attack the boss constantly?

I am guessing GMS won't get this patch till sometime next year and with many skills being removed and added, I will try to pass many to be removed skill books as possible to avoid the crunch of finding and paying the high prices of the new books when this patch comes. Guess I will use the next SP reset (during Chaos patch) inconsideration toward the Jump patch new skills and play my other chars until jump comes. This will also allow me to have time to make my 24 atk KoC mule too.

Wind Archers lost their Storm Break (super KB skill) and now have this skill called Storm Spike (which looks a lot like Iron Arrow to me, and probably functions the same way as Iron Arrow/Wind Piercing). At least they still have Wind Walk.

hey maybe jump for thief would be a built-in 40 haste 20 jump and actual haste would increase the cap and give some more speed/jump

That's my only hope... Because right now, Bowmen have ALL Night Lords have, plus more! And by that I mean, flash jump, drain, avenger but hitting more and on a bigger range, avoid with effects that actually are useful (Fake doesn't protect against statuses, and makes dark flare even more useless), provided they have the proper speed equipment, more speed than anyone else, a faster triggered single target attack, DoT or if that got removed summons... 2 of them.

So yeah, basically hoping for something interesting on thieves later on D:

Seriously though, it looks like double jump covers less horizontal distance than flash jump does. In the video, at least. I'm not comparing numbers, though, so I might be wrong.

Can i safely say that wild hunters are now the weakest of the 3 bowman lets look at the differences now.

Previous Wild Hunter Advantages:
Mobility: Bowmans with double jump now will decrease the gap
HP: WH still has that advantage, except now BM/MM have a drain/better puppet and i believe a higher dodge change, this is only barely supported by the fact that WH puppet attacks
WAB Vs Hurricane: Fitness will alleviate the +5 str req from bows vs crossbows and Advanced Final Attack will probably push BM past the .15 Weapon Multiplier difference between the 2 jobs. So what i think hurricane will be stronger than wild arrow blast.

Advantages Bowman/Xbowman had before Jump and got even better
Better summon
Way better mob moves Rain/Inferno/Blizzard/Frostprey

so in a sense, the Wild Hunters only advantage is now slight hp and tiny bit of mobilty. great D=



Edit: the only difference between BtlM vs Mage Jump and WH vs Bowman Jump is that Btlm offers so much more to the party than 2 of the 3 Mages (ADA/AYA) while WH are stuck with the same skill, and now are completely weaker in almost every category

Now imagine someone on JMS making a NL/shad, then rebirthing that one into a bowmaster. What you'll get:

- ~160% speed with haste/buff in 1st job =D
- Double jump AND flash jump -> Triple Jump =D
- Hurricane with SP =D, while being able to pot in there
- Enough HP with those new BM skills.
- Phoenix to summon and Dark Flare / Puppet to attack with you

Dayum those will be overpowered....

What do you expect, I think its a general consensus that this is Nexon's business strategy, a successful one I might add: Release an overpowered class that causes people to flock to it and spend NX for it (bonus points for a locked Cash Shop). Everyone in the adventurer branch of that class gets outraged and some switch. Balance some time later and watch as OP -> Adventurer or in the best case scenario Adventurer -> OP -> Adventurer. Of course with KMS' permanent NX it might not be as lucrative, but you understand the gist of this procedure.

Watching Arrow Eruption in those videos is eye-bleeding, what an utterly ridiculous animation: a whack, magic crossbow shooting up, arrows appearing everywhere...
Fun times for BM/MM, but since I have neither of the two, what am I excited for?

PQs! GPQ, how I have missed thee. Ergoth, prepare your jaw for a return to dislocation...in 6 months. They are especially nice considering the personality trait EXP on those earrings, among the other PQ items. Goggles and belts (previously released in PvP?) are neat-o too.

Get 8 points in Inferno for the 11 second DoT and take out 1 point from EP.

All other skills absolutely must be maxed - no question.

Well, you can keep MW at 29 , so its only 2 points you need to miss out on.
I'd definitely drop points from puppet. If its as squishy as regular puppet is now, even the 30k hp it has won't last the time limit if you're leaving it close enough for it to do damage.

It's actually a good thing when skills are balanced enough that there is no useless skill. The mage Jump! patch managed to get closer to that too, they are clearly taking out useless skills and trying to make it so you have to really choose what to max.

Illusion staff is translated Illusion step by someone on sleepywood, and the description is: Illusion Step - Max level 30 - For 240s, DEX +45, and dodge chance increased by 35% No CD.

Is dodge a requirement for it? Otherwise 55% dodgerate! Inb4 Alloy's suicide Dx

On another note, These archer changes are pretty cool and all but I think some of the animations are weird.. Fireballs and blue sticks.. They dont seem as archer-like as they used to.. Seem like a mix between magicians and archers.. Almost like a magician that fancies archer-like things. Also from one of the videos looked like you can attack in mid air now, that's pretty cool. Double jump? Not so much.

Wow, well worth the wait for this patch. The other jump updates were nice but this archer one is on another level. Those are some pretty radical changes. My ranger I never wanted to play again sure looks a whole lot more sexy now.

The higher level PQ items are interesting as well. Awesome patch.

There is no way they cannot do Thieves and Pirates after doing the rest. After this patch my expectations are much higher now. I’m not sure Legends/DB need looking at since they got updated in Chaos. I think Resistance could do with a slight overhaul perhaps.

True but Evans and Arans still need another look over. Unless the changes in Jump put Evans exactly where they need to be, then just look at Arans. Ever since BB Arans have just been killed.

We gotta remember how many changes they had to receive just because they're such lol. They had to reduce the large delay we used to have, several times, that didn't really do much. Their "rebalance" were very minor changes that are pretty bad but since we were already so bad we'd take any buffs. Then they gave us our Big Bang update, where we rose up in power quite a bit, but other classes jumped up in power/usefulness even further. =/

Paladins started becoming noticeably more useful as soon as Dual Charging came into play, and with Big Bang they were above a Bucc with their trollsome defense and useful party skills, while still dealing more damage then them. Now with Chaos and Jump they are truly the Maplestory definition of an unkillable tank and are really strong for a defensive class.

There would be a difference in funding then. in the Bowmaster Vs Wild Hunter battle, the only difference in damage is the 1.2 to 1.35 multiplier and the fact that xbows have a bit more attack. Bowmasters in one hand have a better mob control/mob damage and a better summon. Tell me the difference between Wild Arrow Blast vs Hurricane other than these two factors.

Someone else may say the 5 Adventurers are stupid and the game should have just started with Cygnus. Again it's someones opinion. In retrospect I shouldn't have said "who cares">.> but anyway..my point is I think the adventurers should always be slightly above any other class. This goes for AMS to Evans too. While balance should still be present the Adventurers should ALWAYS have something over any new class that comes out. Just my two cents.

hey maybe jump for thief would be a built-in 40 haste 20 jump and actual haste would increase the cap and give some more speed/jump

can totally see this now:
- go to boss
- hold down hurricane button and arrange pot to be close to finger's reach

LOL This already happens with auto pot for the most part.

I wonder if AFA is still capped at 100. Because my BM friends always have to move regardless of being hit or not just cause FA stops working after a while. It's especially ridiciulous with all these new evasion boosts you might not be getting hit for a while.

I still feel like MM's get a bit shafted. I would have loved to see Blind kept in some form and made to work on bosses but oh well.

Can i safely say that wild hunters are now the weakest of the 3 bowman lets look at the differences now.

Previous Wild Hunter Advantages:
Mobility: Bowmans with double jump now will decrease the gap
HP: WH still has that advantage, except now BM/MM have a drain/better puppet and i believe a higher dodge change, this is only barely supported by the fact that WH puppet attacks
WAB Vs Hurricane: Fitness will alleviate the +5 str req from bows vs crossbows and Advanced Final Attack will probably push BM past the .15 Weapon Multiplier difference between the 2 jobs. So what i think hurricane will be stronger than wild arrow blast.

Advantages Bowman/Xbowman had before Jump and got even better
Better summon
Way better mob moves Rain/Inferno/Blizzard/Frostprey

so in a sense, the Wild Hunters only advantage is now slight hp and tiny bit of mobilty. great D=

HP: Spirit link increases HP.
WABvhurr: BMs have a 1.3 multiplier in chaos.

Really, Balance is supposed to look how Warriors have it during jump. Pallys with high Def, Heros with High attack, and Drk With average stats with a good buff that helps the lower survivability classes, if you include aran, they would have kb control and be the warrior with DoT. Not like Make one job have 90% of an advantage over the similar job.


though for thieves, NL and Buccs need a revamp

BMs are for 1v1 with decent mobbing. MMs are for mobs with slightly less effective 1v1. Post-BB that hasn't been the case, pre-BB it was. Now they're in line with how they should be again.

Wind Archers lost their Storm Break (super KB skill) and now have this skill called Storm Spike (which looks a lot like Iron Arrow to me, and probably functions the same way as Iron Arrow/Wind Piercing). At least they still have Wind Walk.

Skill builds am cry. I never thought I'd see the day where Nexon made every archer skill useful.

Horray for picking one of the weakest job branches and sticking with it for the long term. We've only gotten better since the 3rd job days. I expect big nerfs next week, though.

Delay should be reverted back to normal too, as well as lowering the damage but having it hit multiple times, just for the sake of making it seem more like what the skill is. I'm pretty sure a monster isn't able to get hit by just one falling arrow and easily dodge the rest.

The above applies for Arrow Eruption as well.

Wow, I totally called that (save for the delay, dunno if that was changed).

The archer changes make me very giddy!

Welp, after seeing all videos, that new flash jump, avoid, protection, summons, etc, feels like a slap to all Night Lords for real now.

My only hope is that this means change is in order about movement skills for thieves.

Protection has never been a Night Lord's strong point, nor have summons, and at this point the only class to not have some kind of rapid movement ability are warriors and Buccs, so I don't get why you still seem to think NL are the only ones with it.

Thinking about it... Nexon likes to release big patches in trios; on the next one they could be releasing the new Hero.
1st: Thieves revamp
2nd: Pirates revamp
3rd: New Hero

We could even see the thief/pirate revamp as soon as starting this time next month. Doesn't really make sense to finish this and then go into something completely different (new area/legends) without finishing the job for the other classes.

After seeing the speed cap increase for archers, i'm really convinced they might have dash stack with super transform and break the speed cap. No movement skill like double jump for buccs, but we'll have 170% active speed in exchange. :glitter:

I'm disappointed.
- I don't know how much hp the link with phoenix and the boosted marksmanship can give to your character, but having a drain attack doesn't help survive bosses with huge damage (Chaos Zakum and Up).
- The old inferno actually looked like a rain of burning arrows, this one looks like a rain of fflaming stones, which makes no sense to me, I would have been happy if at least ultimate inferno would change its animation.
- I dislike xbowmen getting concentrate, as if xbowmen were lacking power, they made U. strafe even stronger, even if bowmasters got Adv FA, with snipe (now buffed) xbowman should be on par if not ahead with bowmasters.
-Again, advanced inferno should be changed for a new mob skill for bowmen, or at least make it change its animation in 4th job :f7:

Yes. It's a gimmick that's already been done. If they do it again, it'll be a rehash of WH or Mech styles. People would only play it if the new class seemed over powered (see DB/Bandits) Makes me wonder how the bowman/thief legend is going to play out.

The Sharks would hover and float as if they were in water, shoot lazer beams from their eyes, have razor sharp teeth, and have their own form of Shadow Partner (would only be for the Shark itself, not the rider.)

But, yeah, you're most likely right. Though I could see them making it interesting at least one more time.

Classes add to the story more. The game will constantly change and grow. With MapleStory being one of the most played and popular MMORPGS out there I don't see it dying anytime soon. Trust me NEXON will always think of something and I can think of about AT LEAST 15 new areas they can make with little to no effort.

You can always push new storyline without implementing new characters/jobs. Honestly, there's only so much you can do before you hit class oversaturation. And I feel that the story is only there to legitimize adding a new class.

I think the fact that archers got upgrades similar to thieves shows that the ways to make low hp classes decently playable/survivable is very limited to the developers.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned how badly Bow Masters rape Marksmen in single target DPS.

Bow Master: 220% Hurricane + 250% * 0.6 Advanced Final Attack @ 120ms: 4085.4%/s with Criticals (overall damage is 4902.48%/s with Spirit Link)
Marksmen: 230%x6 Ultimate Strafe + 150% * 0.4 Final Attack + 900%x4 Snipe every 6 Ultimate Strafes @ 720ms: 3358.6%/s with Criticals (overall damage is 4030.32%/s with Spirit Link)

Snipe's 100% critical, ignoring defense, and the multiplier difference for Crossbows (which if I recall correctly is smaller after Chaos than Big Bang) isn't big enough to make up for 1.21x more damage. (Also note that Bow Masters get 30 more attack from AFA, Phoenix does a small amount more damage than Frostprey, and Snipe may have the tendency to hit the damage cap still?)

The trade off is multi-target superiority; let's examine that:

Ultimate Inferno does 6625%/s to 6 targets with critical (1104.2%/s per target), and then 140%/s DoT on each monster which ignores defense
Add in Advanced Final Attack (which actually should not be impactful in a multi-target scenario) 6901%/s
Pierce does 9699%/s to 6 targets with critical, and 16115%/s to 8 targets with critical, considering the damage increase formula, and an insignificant increase of 38.5%/s with Final Attack


1: 976.8%/s
2: 1172.1%/s
3: 1406.5%/s
4: 1687.8%/s
5: 2025.4%/s
6: 2430.5%/s
7: 2916.6%/s
8: 3499.9%/s
Despite doing more DPS on 2+ monsters (i.e. it is a better mob skill despite taking more theoretical time to kill the first monster, every other monster takes less theoretical time), the fact that you require more than double the time to use Pierce optimally compared to Inferno shows a larger difficulty in achieving an optimal time to kill a certain amount of monsters in a certain amount of hits.

tl;dr: Pierce gives a significant amount of overkill, which is one of the leading reasons why Hurricane is such a good skill compared to Ultimate Strafe and Triple Throw. It partitions its damage into smaller controlled hits, and less damage is wasted on a monster that is already dead; i.e. you could need one Arrow to kill something, but Ultimate Strafe and Triple Throw will always use six. Hurricane will only spend the one, given that you don't have a horrible connection, and contribute the rest of its DPS on something else that is actually alive. The same issue exists in Pierce but even more heavily since its damage gets to remarkably high; you may not need to fully charge to kill monsters in the back, but you're required to do so to kill the ones in front, or given the case to even deal any substantial damage because of the way it scales. Uncharged Pierce only does 10~15% of its maximum damage, and you would be better off with Blizzard in that case.
On the other hand, it does provide a significantly greater ability to OHKO groups by pre-charging and doing a large amount of burst DPS that Inferno has more difficulty matching, so this effect is only seen on monsters that take significant amount of hits to kill (read: Monster Park/Cygnus boss?)

There is also the case of advantage as well as disadvantage that may exist, but also consider the fact that Hurricane is already almost as strong as hitting 4 monsters with Ultimate Inferno, that there's a large disparity to using Ultimate Inferno as a Bow Master.

Pierce is undoubtedly a "stronger" mobbing skill, but its efficiency is questionable and the case of this ridiculously back-loaded damage can debate its ultimate usefulness.

Also, before anyone asks, it would not be beneficial to use Ultimate Inferno to DPS a boss with DoT.

I was hoping they would address Pierce to be more consistent (maybe make it the opposite of Aran's and Paralyze damage decrease), as well as actually giving Marksmen some improvement to their single target DPS instead of buffing both Bow Master's single target and multi-target DPS. The 8 mob Pierce was a nice addition though. I expect that either AFA or Hurricane gets nerfed, because they're already significantly stronger than what I've calculated Warriors to be from their patch, and Marksmen are much closer to that regard.

I guess snipe is there because back before BB having strafe be their only 1v1 skill would suck completely. They wouldn't have much appeal otherwise. It's kind of overhyped except for the super funded like bryan imo.

Joe's calculations were an interesting read as always. Their damage will only go up as long as their avoid is through the roof, making avoid a stat that's actually useful for increasing damage. How scary. @_@

A huge problem with Pierce is the charge time. I feel if it just had a really long delay like Buccaneer skills, and you could fill the space with another skill, it would be perfect. No one uses Pierce without charging it. Or if they do, they're doing it wrong, seeing as Iron Arrow is better, and it scales better as you charge it so the only reason you wouldn't is due to overkill.
Instead of charging for 840ms (~current time) and then spending another 720ms (boostered) to fire, it should shoot at 810ms standard (speed before booster, what it is now), but then have another 810ms (boosterable) before being able to use it again, making it effectively spam at 1620ms, and you would naturally fill the gap with Blizzard or Dragon Pulse. i.e. 810ms Pierce + 810ms Dragon Breath instead of 810ms Pierce and waiting for another 810ms delay to use Pierce again. With this, they could either decrease the damage, or remove/change the increased damage effect to balance it, since charging is pretty stupid.
You waste a lot of potential DPS charging. Ask an Arch Mage (if an Arch Mage feels Big Bang is useful time spent charging, they shouldn't =[ ). They lose out on being able to Telecast it, which without charge actually comes close to matching its fully charged DPS, and has less room for error (read: overcharging).

With the way Pierce works now, you would freeze if necessary, Dragon Pulse, then charge up Pierce. Anything that survives would be Dragon Pulsed forward to get a larger mob, and then Pierced again to efficiency make use of its charge and damage, as opposed to Piercing twice on one cluster half of which just died, if possible. Otherwise, it's for a large burst DPS where you charge it while moving around/climbing/falling to do a big burst when you find something to kill. I very much dislike this methodology since the charging wastes time, and burst has little sustainability compared to something like Ultimate Inferno, but they improved it so that you don't have to wait another 7 levels to get 6 mob Dragon Breath in 4th job. It's still a bad model since you lose a lot of DPS Dragon Breath-ing and over charging. Maybe adding a passive to Pierce to improve Dragon Pulse like how Boomerang Step works, but it still doesn't address the charge problem.


Another interesting thing they added which I found to be very thoughtful was the 1 second buff of Evasion Boost (Dodge). When a monster misses on you, for 1 second, all your attacks have 100% critical. This means that instead of 1 Arrow from Hurricane being 100% critical, all shots for the whole second are guaranteed, and Ultimate Strafe gets two shots (12 arrows) that are 100% critical since you can shoot twice in one second. (720ms for the first shot, and then the second shot starts before the buff wears off, therefore giving it the effect). This helps Bow Masters more than Marksmen (8~9 Hurricane Arrows and the average AFA, 3110~3330% vs 12 Ultimate Strafe Arrows and the average FA 2880%), but the previous Evasion Boost was laughably useless, especially for Bow Masters.

EDIT: For the people saying how we will have 55% dodge, it's already been proven that evasion boost doesn't give 20% dodge, but instead factors in enemy accuracy somehow and comes out to a WAY less avoid rate. Nope, that's why I stated earlier that it feels fitting to archers, and all, at about the beginning of the thread. What I'm saying is that, right now, it feels completely unnatural the fact that we can use haste and archers go faster than us, the ones casting it; the supposed "speed class". That was towards the comment about "Speed doesn't matter".

Yeah, we still have to wait for the thief update. Right now, I'm feeling like this because all we got recently, instead of a bit more variety, was just the nerf of our main attacking skill (the only one on single target). What common sense is telling me, is that we'll get our speed cap raised too, with a passive speed boost, also. I'm daydreaming about having 200 speed, 165 jump, unmounted, but could still make sense.

In fact, How archers are set at the moment, it feels awesome to think that there's a class that's gonna benefit more with haste, the same way us NLs benefit more from Sharp Eyes. Just doesn't feel natural at the moment.

While I agree Bowmen needed the change, and it's fitting and all, it's also true that NLs have been getting lower and lower for quite a while now, just saying (Just to compare, the bandit branch has more DPS and skill variety, yet nobody compares them). If 40 speed is important, imagine 60. If it didn't matter that much, nobody would upgrade their mounts after the first one.

Most people don't upgrade their mount because you can't really feel the difference between 150 and 170.

Almost positive they don't upgrade the mount because it's too expensive/time consuming for the casual gamer.

And for those saying NL's have been at the top for a while, well, it doesn't mean they suddenly deserve to be pushed to the bottom ever since BigBang and having stayed there even at Chaos. Sure, archers deserve a buff, but the changes they've made feel more fit for thieves than archers and feels pretty much akin to giving warriors magic attacks.


Besides, if Double Jump is as I think it is (equal to WH's), then FJ is still better. o_o

From what I can tell in the videos, it's the WH's double jump. And having a WH myself, I can say that with double jump and 100% Jump instead of 123% Jump allows a character to jump higher than a Night Lord with 123% Jump and FJ-ing at peak maximum. This makes more difference when it comes to vertical or layered non-flat maps in addition to climbing ladders and getting off them speedily. And since there are more vertical maps than horizontal filled with lots of platforms in Maple, you get my point...

While I agree Bowmen needed the change, and it's fitting and all, it's also true that NLs have been getting lower and lower for quite a while now, just saying (Just to compare, the bandit branch has more DPS and skill variety, yet nobody compares them). I agree, NL's have been sliding. But that's just because they were so far ahead of the other classes.

And even before, if you didn't have Sharp Eyes, you were simply lame. Heck, even Triple throw was stronger than Avenger on mobs of 4 or less. Sharp eyes was like a free x2 damage bonus.

How so? BM's are supposed to be high dps at bosses. Thus, drain makes perfect sense as it's very helpful for bossing, especially as bosses like Van Leon and Empress pop up more often. Double Jump is a bit of overkill but I won't begrudge it. Advanced FA is a very nice improvement and it makes sense to me. Improving on earlier skills is a trend for nexon.

Warriors do have magic attacks. Elemental charges isn't magic? Beholder isn't magic? Combo Charges aren't magic?

i find the bowmen updates more lulzy as compared to the mages and warrior ones. the updated stuff is soooo, out of place, if you know what i mean. those in the mage and warrior ones are much needed while bowmen get unnecessary skills such as double jump.

Ignoring the damage calculations and lamenting NLs for a sec, do mastery books from a removed skill carry over to the new skill with the same skill ID? If that's the case I'd like a list of which new skills each of our removed skill's books will morph into so I can stock up on cheap useless books, if possible. Thanks!


I had the same question regarding Magician changes, I've searched and gotten some vague answers, some people found Arcane Aim books in their inventory, likely replacing Mana Reflect. Some skills were explicitly changed like Ice Demon was shown to become Glacial Chains, but Fiel's extractions seem to differentiate an ID -> GC change and Mana Reflect removal and Arcane Aim addition as two separate events.



NL's are the new mages! lol!

Hyperbole noted, but Buccaneers have held that position for ages, and I'm still not completely convinced on mages not being "mages" anymore.

I'm not trying to troll you. Trying to make very clear distinctions between classes that share several significant similarities is difficult. Both are ranged, both have low def, low hp, high speed, high accuracy, high avoid. I'm talking about the archer branches and the thief branches. Their main attributes are very similar. It should come as no surprise that they share other things, like similar skills. Focus and nimble body? But we had to use sp to buff ourself for what you got passively.

If you see "NEW SKILL" - this means a new skillID was added that was not in the previous data.
If you see "REMOVED SKILL" - this means a skillID cannot be found in the new data that was in the previous data.

That means Nexon changed a skill's meaning but kept the skillID. You can distinctly tell it changed when the name changes to something completely different or when the iconDisabled/iconMouseOver changes to a new icon.

So my extractions often differ from the patch notes in verbiage only. It's a very low level parser.

As for which skills will keep their SP and which skills won't - it's anyone's guess. I know as much about that as the next guy.

Funny, because Buccaneers have been around for 3 years now? Archers have been around for 7.

After reading some of the translated bowman skill updates:


At master level, Spirit Link: Phoenix increases your damage by 20%, HP by 40%, physical and magic defense by 30% when Phoenix is summoned.



At master level, Spirit Link: Freezer increases your damage by 20%, HP by 40%, physical and magic defense by 30% when Freezer is summoned.

A 40% elemental resistance to the mage summons?...(doesn't make any sense but its done)

50% stance to a skill that can be dispelled with a cooldown? (could have been 90% or passive).

As for Big Bang, its not comparable to Pierce where MM's get the increased instance of a mob effect while training. Every 4th job explorer mage's main attacking skill can mob so what's the point of using a charge skill for the same purpose?
(F/P actually has a use for it due to the DoT effect for ME)

The archer update seems better designed to me so far.
