Hello there!

Before i got my new laptop i constantly lagged and it would anger me.

xD

Heres some of the stuff i regularly do to ensure I dont get a slow

laptop.

To begin with

First of all go here to download CCleaner

http://www.ccleaner.com/

Then open it and it will bring up a list of various items on your

computer. Check the ones you want gone and once your done click

analyze. It should bring up a list of many files. Look through them to

make sure you arnt deleting anything important. Click Run cleaner and

it will begin cleaning.

Moving on

Now your computer has come with a disk cleanup already installed.

You can find it by clicking start (xp) or the orb (vista)then go to

accessories and click system tools and it should be there. Open it and

click the "C" drive. Tick all the boxes and click Ok. This WONT delete

any text files/pictures.

Disk Defrag time!

Well computers also come with a disk defragmenter installed also. You

can find it in the same place as the Disk Cleanup. But mine doesnt

work for some reason so i use Auslogics disk defrag which you can

get here
http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/disk-defrag/download Open it click Ok on the "C" drive and just wait for it to

finish. Once its done click Ok and your finished defragmenting.o

Hot Laptop?
Im not clear on this but ive noticed when my laptop gets hot it tends to

slow down. For laptop users you might want to get a laptop cooler or

jus shut the computer off for a bit xD.

Ill post more tips later

You should polish that up. Looks like you copy/pasted from somewhere as those endlines are wrong.

Windows XP defragger sucks. Avoid it.

@above--at the least for Windows XP (and earlier versions), the drive SHOULD still be defragmented on a regular basis. Any suggestions for what someone could use? Or do you agree with the OP for what to use instead?

Perfect Disk, Diskeeper and O&O Defrag are considered to be the best software for defragging your system.
