New pet!

달팽이
Description: 도무지 무슨 생각을 하고 있는지 알 수 없는 달팽이다.\n#c스킬:메소줍기, 아이템 줍기, HP 물약충전, MP 물약충전, 자동 줍기#.
Translated Description: It's a snail that no one can tell what it's thinking of. Skill: Meso pick-up, item pick-up, auto-HP potion, auto-MP potion, auto loot.
Fiel's note: Only lasts for 10 hours until it dies.
New skills!
1. There is a new job called "매니저 스킬북" (Manager Skillbook). He has two skills, 매크로 테스트 (Bot test) and 텔레포트 (Teleport).
2. GMs and SuperGMs were given the same Bot Test ability.
3. A new job class was added called "해적 입문서" (Adventures of? The korean text here matches the name for the base "Pirate" skillbook). The WZ files refer to these skills as job ID 1500.
4. A new job class was added called "인파이터 가이드" (Infighter Guide). The WZ files refer to these skills as job ID 1510.
5. A new job class was added called "버커니어의 길" (Buccaneer's Road). The WZ files refer to these skills as job ID 1511.
What are these new jobs all about?
My best guess is that these jobs are for tutorial purposes. You know how many people ask on forums "Which job should I be?" This will attempt to rectify those questions by allowing players to give each job class a test run.
For the base pirate class (jobID 1500), the gunslinger skills were removed. Instead, only the following skills remain: Quick Motion, Straight, Somersault Kick, Dash, and Lightning.
Wait... Lightning? Yup, it's a new skill.

라이트닝

Translated Description: "With the power of the Lightning Sprite, deal an additional blow. Enemies near the attacked enemy receive damage at the same time."
Elemental Attribute: Lightning
Max Level: 20
Unfortunately, the actual information for this skill is different between the strings and the actual skill data. Since I have no previous skill information to work from, I will post both the strings and the skill data in order to present a complete picture. Hopefully Nexon will flesh out this area of the WZ files so I can give you guys a better idea of what's going on.

So what does it look like?
http://www.southperry.net/NoWatermark/Lightning.gif
It's always making the same movements whether attacking, coming to life, dying, etc.
In the next job (jobID 1510), which is called the Infighter class in the WZ files, things get a little screwy. Let me state all of the skills explicitly: Improving Max HP Increase, Knuckle Mastery, Knuckle Booster, Screw Punch, Energy Charge (!!!), Energy Buster (!!!), and 라이트닝 차지 (Lightning Charge).
All of the skills are pretty self-explanatory, but let's have a look at Lightning:
http://www.southperry.net/Pictures/170/skill.15101006.iconMouseOver.png
라이트닝 차지
Description: [마스터 레벨 : 20]\n일정 시간동안 너클에 번개 속성을 부여한다.
Max Level: 20
Alas, my White Knight and I/L friends, I wish this was a joke!
So what makes this skill different from a White Knight's Lightning Charge? The following:
1. At max level, the elemental bonus is 35% compared to the WKs 50%.
2. At max level, the pirate's skill lasts 140 seconds compared to the WKs 200 seconds.
The animation is the same as the WK's Lightning Charge skill, so I won't bother to post it.
Finally, there's the last new job (jobID 1511), the Buccaneer. I will list their skills: Critical Punch (see note), Drain, Transform, Shockwave, Fist, Wind Booster, Sparks (??!), and Sharks (??!).
Note: The Critical Punch skill is not the same as Stun Mastery here. In this case, the data shown here is the same as a Bowman's critical (20 levels, 40% probability, +100% damage) and uses the same skill icon as the Bowman's critical.
http://www.southperry.net/Pictures/170/skill.15111006.iconMouseOver.png
스파크
Description: [마스터 레벨 : 20]\n번개 정령의 힘으로 추가 공격을 가한다. 공격 받은 적의 주위에 있는 적도 동시에 데미지를 받는다.
Translated Description: Use 16 MP, attack 3 enemies for 120 seconds with 120% damage.
Elemental Attribute: Lightning
Max Level: 20
This skill isn't fleshed out enough in the WZ files. All levels are the exact same. There's almost no reason for putting any more than one point in this skill. However, if you read the repeated line for each level in the strings, it spells this out: MP 16 소비, 120초간 120%의 데미지로 적 3마리 공격.
There's still a mystery for how this works, so I'm going to hold off on too much analysis. But hey, here's an animation for you of the skill effect:
http://www.southperry.net/NoWatermark/Spark.gif
http://www.southperry.net/Pictures/170/skill.15111007.iconMouseOver.png
샤크
Description: [마스터 레벨 : 30]\n전방의 다수의 적에게 데미지를 준다.
Translated Description: "Damages many enemies in front of you."
Max Level: 30
This skill is obviously a take on a bowman's Dragon's Breath. The skill tree is an exact copy of the bowman's skill. There's nothing in the data, though, that signifies that this skill pushes the enemy mob like Dragon's Breath does. However, after you look at the animations, you can likely conclude that they do the same thing:

wow wtp!!! So pirates are getting a sort of beholder skill like dark knights?
If the gunslinger moves were removed for 1st job, what are gunslingers supposed to use during first job? Melee attacks?
I guess it's like a fresh assassin only being able to use double stab, and getting lucky 7 in 2nd job oO
Man I really hope I'm reading this right; its a bit confusing since alot of it is untranslated

Nope, not quite. These jobs are new and use different jobID numbers. They are only related to pirates in that most of the skillset is the same.

I think they're making a 3rd branch job for pirates, which act like kind of magician~bowman.. just weaker.
also, the GMs are getting new skill.. bot test? sound to me like a new tool to catch the hackers..
and lastly,
THE SNAIL IS SO CUTE <3
but it lasts for 10 hours only?! wtf? D:
*emo*
anyway, where's my lvl 140 purple snail?!
"Bot Test" forces the player into taking a lie detector test.

Love the skill effects O.o
Thanks for the show Fiel :chin:
Edit: any Chance we can see all the sprites for the Snail?
*_* loved to see that
Dang, a beholder at second/first job...?
Wonder how the pet snail relates. Perhaps only 100 nx cash, or you don't need any?

You can get the Snail pet for free, Mar the Fairy will give you a quest that you will need to complete to get this pet.

Can you get multiples? I mean, after the first one expires, you can get another one?
By the looks of it, it also has meso magnet + item pouch + hp/mp too, so that'll come extremely useful =).

My guess is that they are not done developing the new job and are rather trying out some developmental skill....
ALSO STR AND INT CHAR FTW? Whats stat is this gonna use?
Also animations look 4th job quality IMO.

If they were just trying out developmental skill, they wouldn't make animations that good-looking. And also, they wouldn't put it in KMST.
It's a new job, but why 3rd branch pirate, and not 3rd branch thief/archer?
Maybe it's a total new job, but they put it in infighters just until the job is completed. Shark attack looks pirate-ish though.
Let's just wait this out. Obviously Nexon is going to do more development on these skills. I want to see how this turns out. Trying to figure out the purpose of why Nexon made this extension is beyond me.
Furthermore, there are a few things here that don't add up. If Nexon wanted to make an extension to the pirate class, why didn't they just make the 530/531/532? Or, for that matter, why not 600? Or 700? Things aren't quite making sense here, and these things will only make sense in due time.

Agreed. Somehow, I don't think this is elemental pirates. I think this is additions to the current class, but perhaps need to be tested on their own for some reason.

It doesn't seem like it'll be for a PQ. If it were a PQ, they'd stick them in the beginner skills like what they did for the Mu Lung raid PQ skills.
Perhaps this will be the summoner or alchemist class branch that Nexon Japan mentioned in an interview? They mentioned that during the test stages of the new class(now pirates), they were asked by korea to come up with ideas for a class. Summoner/alchemist being their most promising ideas.

I can't find the interview anymore, but it also mentioned that a big chunk of the Pirate job's skills were based off the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies.
the translated article went something like "during the development of pirates, we suggested with a few other idea for new career -- even summoner and alchemist but they fell through"
It might have been a messed translation as well though, so I'm not guaranteeing anything.
It was a popular Japanese magazine interviewing a Nexon Japan CEO.

I'm glad to see i'm not the only one completely baffled by this. The entire time I'm reading this my head is spinning @_@ It's just so random... I guess we'll have to wait for an official release on this, we'll never be able to pull any logical info out of it.

I think it's the thing where gMS GMs can teleport through air and space, like NxJoeW does, just go to NxJoeW's youtube you'll see, Private servers can't do that yet, tho.

That's not what it means by bullet.
The sharks thing is a whole new skill for a whole new class, the "bullet" is just the animation when the skill travels across the screen to hit a monster. The class that uses the sharks may or may not be a pirate even.

Infighters are getting a summon skill (Lightning), and an attack skill that ties into it along with a Lightning Charge, and Gunlingers are and infighters are getting a KB skill...
Will just have to see when vids are released.

Yeah I think you're right about this! It's just added skills to the excisting pirate class! :)
Vipers are already lightning based. Watch the (Super) Transform animation, you'll see the lightning sparks in the hand of the character.
Also don't forget:
- Energy Charge
- Energy Buster
- Energy Orb
- Shockwave
All sound a bit Electric like right? :)
Btw, Spark reminds me of Ninja Ambush - Recolored... Does Nexon really think that skill is usefull? :P
And yeah, Captains really needed a pushback skill (Sharks) like BM's/MM's have.
Evil Thought: Nexon wants to sell SP resets? :+)

2008-10-09, 07:20 PM
Pirate skill trees are already complicated though, unless the shark pushback skill is in second job for gunslingers we can put the points used on bomb into that. We can't possibly take points off any other skill since they're all useful/required...
If it was 1st i guess we'd have to kick quick motion, and 4th...mind control?
Also, i don't see a difference between the string level 9 and 20 except for 1 MP. What's the point?...

true, either way its nice to see new class ideas being explored. Hopefully they do chose STR and INT for this one, and if its a 2 tier class, hope fully a ranged possibility would be DEX and INT.
Ohh. I really oughta make a infighter.

As I said before, this could easily be a new skill for a class. Who knows, maybe these skills are the first 5th job skills to come out?
Also, I doubt that the lightning attacks are for a new job. They don't really base attacks for a job around one element, otherwise the person is screwed if they come across a monster strong to the element.
Personally, I'm waiting for the next patch to make any decisions, but if there're new skills, such as the poison equivilant of the new skills, then I'd bet on them being new.

2008-10-09, 08:46 PM
Uhm... This makes me think: Why did they do these skills if it wasn't for a new job? If anything, it could be a new pq, where each class has their own finishers, depending on their own level, since they can't be for the build we already know...
So, either a new pirate branch, or an odd use, like a pq.

This is obviously a new branch of the pirate class. Gunslingers and infighters have already been released for many months now; the biggest change to them anyone can hope for is change in mp cost, cooldown, etc. It looks like the new class has been given some infighter skills so that testers can actually do something other than spam a certain test skill.

Sounds very logical (I wouldn't've thought of that) but it still doesn't explain why the first job is different and it only goes up to three.
Oh well, time will tell. 4th job was a mess too when it was being tinkered with in KMST.
Cyanne
2008-10-10, 02:22 AM
I think that they're releasing skills to tespia bit by bit, like what they did with 4th job, when finding no extremely major issues with the skills after testing themselves so that the player testers can help them find the harder-to-catch glitches with the skills. They probably threw in some infighter skills so that people of the new class would be walking around with more skills to use. Imagine only having a crappy summon, a damage increasing skill, and a knockback skill; there isn't as much of a wide range of places and monsters on which to test the skills. The actual attacking skills of the class probably haven't had their major glitches worked out yet. Sparks looks more like a buff (you can see the character shape in the animation), and the sharks on sharks make it obvious it's part of the pirate class.

Warriors and magicians have three branches and now pirates are getting another one (if it is another one). Does this mean that maybe thieves and archers might get a third branch?

Yeah, but I still have a problem with it. What I'm saying is a job based on one element is horrible. Think about it. If this job can only use lightning attacks, then good luck getting 10 stormbreaker badges when all of your elemental attacks are reduced to 1. The main reasons why people have more than 1 element is so the creators can come up with more attacks and so you have more than 1 way to take down enemies.
And I was just saying that there's more than 1 possibility than a new pirate class when I said it could be 5th job.
I wouldn't worry too much about this version of the Pirate class only having access to one element. Every other class in the game that is elemental has access to at least two elements (Bishops have heal & holy, which I consider two elements). Let them work it out.

To everyone saying "Dex+Int" or "Str+Int" class, it's not going to happen with the information in this thread. The reason for this is the exact same as White Knights - their base class.
WKs are classified as warriors in their first job even though they have magical abilities like charges, meaning that for their whole "career" they will be wearing warrior and/or common class equipment. The same applies to this potential class. Whether they're a third pirate branch or they're skills for a specific PQ, neither option creates a necessity for anything else than str+dex because that's what the pirate equipments have as requirements.
KMST patched to 171. Since the patch isn't very significant, I'll just say what was done concerning the events here.
The Sharks skill originally had 440 range, just like the Bowmaster's Dragon Breath. It's been increased to 600 range at all levels.
It's obvious they are going to continue work on this. Moar plz.

It only would be usefull if you're standing at the total left (or right) "side-end" of a map, and there are 800 Pixels right of you (like zakum)... weird increase... :o

Wait, Lightning Charge has no Normal Damage Bonus, but just 35% lightning damage?
I don't care too much anyways since lightning is pretty much useless as an element. I mean, they might have a fun time at Florina Beach, but other than that, woohoo, Rextons and Spirit Vikings >_> (and HH and Black Crow)

The only thing we know, is that it seems like KMS is working on some new skills for a possibly new class.

Warriors and magicians have three branches and now pirates are getting another one (if it is another one). Does this mean that maybe thieves and archers might get a third branch?
The most effective choices, I'd say, for 3rd branch jobs in that area, are the two existing Pirate classes. Gunners for Archers and Fisters as Thieves.
But yeah, this doesn't really seem necessary as a job on its own. I'm going to hope they're supplemental job specific skills that can be learned outside the system of the normal skill system, sort of like the common skills. I really don't want to see such an unneeded additional subclass to the Pirate class.
Are these things released then in kMSt? Have they mentioned them or explained them?

It will be interesting to see what they do with these skills and others that haven't been created (or shown).
I'm thinking that if it is an addition to the Pirate class, it'll wield some ranged weapon, because "Sharks" is definitely melee friendly. I imagine some kind of bazooka or cannon, it feels possible to me. Also, about the electricity theme, it might have something to do with the connections the Nautilus has with Omega Sector. Of course, this is if it a Pirate job.
By the way, the animations are surprisingly good. They've really gotten way better.

Also, according to Insoya, this patch changed several things about the maker alchemy skill. You can now upgrade crystals using 10 of the normal/low/mid grade + mesos to create 1 low/mid/high grade respectively. This costs 103k (155k for black/dark crystal) for normal -> low and low -> mid, and it costs 516k (775k for black/dark crystal) for mid -> high. You can also dismantle normal (maker-able) equipment into monster crystals of a level proportionate to the equipment.
Nothing is mentioned about the new skills, so I don't think the new job is publically released for testing yet.
Maybe just maybe these are all skill covers for current skills. Like I ingest a "lightning potion" and all of a sudden I have an electric beholder, electric dragon's breath, maybe even electric brandish? for 20min or something.

Yea. Getting +5, +5, and +5 on the 3 stats that you would like will be a lot easier.
I'm not looking forward to tracking down powders and whatnot. Ores are hard enough as it is. :f3:
And what's wrong with dropping stuff in the FM? D: Does that go for the general market (where everyone spams) and/or the individual rooms where people set up shops?

It doesn't really change things that much, the prices of all the crystals will still be the same.. mid-grade cost ~3.5m each on my server while high-grade cost ~40m. I'm just worried that the availability of mid-grade crystals will be significantly lower :x

OHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, I just reread Cyanne's post and that makes way more sense. >_< Not as easy as I meant by the above post.
Still, you could, hypothetically, have 100 diamonds graded and not have a single one as a high grade. It would suck, but it is possible. This way, however, you would just need 10 mid grade diamonds to make a high grade one. A lot more likely. :f2:
Hopefully Nexon puts both features into it if/when they add it, instead of splitting up the skill and this like kMS. :X

I think it goes like
10 normal refined crystals + meso = 1 low
10 low refined crystals + meso = 1 mid
10 mid refined crystals + meso = 1 high
Cyanne
2008-10-11, 12:43 PM
Yeah, that's right.
10 Normal refined + 103k = 1 low
10 low + 103k = 1 mid
10 mid + 516k = 1 high
10 Normal refined black/dark + 155k = 1 low black/dark
10 low black/dark + 155k = 1 mid black/dark
10 mid black/dark + 775k = 1 high black/dark
This means you need 1000 refined crystals to make 1 high grade crystal, by the way. That's 10000 ores.

Poor ripped archer skills =(
great, another soon to be powerful class (possibly). Looks intersting, but you'd think that Nexon would make another branch for Archers of thieves before Pirates...
I doubt these skills are add ons. If they were, this would totally blow other classes out of the water. Infighters looks strong already and allowing them access to even more power would definetly tip the scales.
I'm glad they are making another possible class, but please use some originality for god's sake. Just putting new animations over already created skills is a little, unimaginative. Mind control was a great new idea from Nexon, but it's not practical. I would like to see something new, not just the animations.

10 Normal refined + 103k = 1 low

10 mid + 516k = 1 high
10 Normal refined black/dark + 155k = 1 low black/dark

10 mid black/dark + 775k = 1 high black/dark

Not necessarily. To my limited knowledge, it's not a good idea to convert 10 refined to 1 low, since by grading those 10 jewels the worst result you can get is 10 low grade.
That or I misunderstood, and this new conversion system replaces the old grading system?
IsaacGS

Yeah, that's right.
10 Normal refined + 103k = 1 low
10 low + 103k = 1 mid
10 mid + 516k = 1 high
10 Normal refined black/dark + 155k = 1 low black/dark
10 low black/dark + 155k = 1 mid black/dark

yeah that doesn't make any sense. It probably means you can turn 10 ores into a regular ungraded gem. It was annoying before, because you couldn't refine ores "in the field". You always had to run back to the NPC to do that. If you gotta go back to the NPC every time you want to forge something, what's the point of having it as a skill? If it's refining ores that would be very convenient as it's something it should have been able to do from the beginning.

10 Normal refined + 103k = 1 low
10 low + 103k = 1 mid
10 mid + 516k = 1 high
10 Normal refined black/dark + 155k = 1 low black/dark
10 low black/dark + 155k = 1 mid black/dark
10 mid black/dark + 775k = 1 high black/dark

That's cause right now it's 90 low, 9 mid, 1 high in 100 refined. (or so)
If it's like you said, then it'll be 90 low, 9 mid, 1 high in 3000 refined.
40*30 = 1,2 billion per high.
This still seems like it'll rape low/mid availability... instead of 100 refined turning into 90 low 9 mid 1 high, it'll be turned into 1 high.

I was talking about stat crystals. Diamonds are a lot lower.. People don't even bother selling low-grade, and mid-grade cost ~500k each, while high-grade diamonds cost about 9m. I bet it'll be even lower on gMS due to APQ.

Russt
2008-10-11, 10:34 PM
They are, but they're comparatively more common and can only be used on weapons. Stat crystals can be used on every piece of equipment, so in theory if you used two high grade stat crystals (1 str, 1 dex, or the equivalent) on each of top, bottom, glove, and shoe, you'd gain 40 stats. Whereas the maximum gain from diamonds is only 3 attack.

There's some kind of Knight Recruit thing and each special job gets an element
Warrior - Light
Magician - Fire
Archer - Wind
Thief - Darkness
Pirate - Lightning

a new job is confirm in the test patch, under branch of pirate. However there written max level for the new job is 120. From 1st job to 3rd job, most skills are based on infighter. (may be 4th job skills are still under development, hmmm...)
The elemental for each job is quite confusing as it only available for 1 branch, e.g. only fire mage, how about ice mageand bishop?
anyway it is large patch, hope Fiel or ZYXWVUT can make a clear translation over it :f2:
