I felt this series was too cute to not share so decided I'd translate a little of it. Only plan on doing the first chapter and then posting it on /a/ and hoping some translator group will pick up where I left off.

Only 2 pages so far because I'm multitasking. Keep in mind my translations may have slight inaccuracies due to the fact that I'm not at a fluent level yet. It should be fine for the most part though. But that'd be the reason why I don't want to pick up the project completely on my own, otherwise I'd probably translate the whole thing. At of right now I only understand about 80% of the words in volume 1, and some translations I'd know in Japanese but can't word right in English without it sounding awkward. So, sorry I'm not able to provide a full translation. I plan on completing chapter 1 and maybe a few others if nobody picks it up after a while.

It's a slice of life 4koma about a guy who's crazy about his girlfriend and always tries to spend time with her and impress her, but she's always out working; so when he goes to her house he ends up babysitting her hyper little sister for the day.

Be sure to point out any mistakes if you find them. I'm a master at making typos.

Very nice job. It didn't looked rushed and the quality is good. Very nice job.

If you need help, 手伝ってあげる!w

I think you're a bit better at it than me, though, especially since I don't go near the whole manga/anime realm.

Thanks guys. I was going to finish up the 3rd page but I got sidetracked reading some SP threads since I don't pop in here as often anymore. Not that there's any real rush or anything, but I'll try to finish the chapter by today.

Update with page 3:

Edit 2:

Derp, forgot to clean up the Japanese under the 4th panel. Translated the sound effect as well.

Spideys, this is amazing. Tell me there's going to be lots of blood and the "I can never let my friends down so I must power on to the NEXT LEVEL!" and some more impossibru things.

Yeah, they use bananas to power up. This is from a training arc:

Got lazy. Started translating again today. I'll fix up page 4 to look better when I finish the other pages.

Joke based on the fact that the sound effect for when Akira sits on Tomekichi is "pomf" and Hiroshi says "wah" in the next frame:

Can you make a video of the sound effects? I don't think I'm saying them correctly out loud...

Also, I like the aquarium, but prefer the science museum.

Up to the last page of the chapter, and it's fairly simple to translate. I just need to do some cleaning for the last panel in it since there's like a full sentence outside of a bubble and there's a background shade behind. So I'll finish the chapter today and post it on /a/. If nobody picks up the project within a few weeks I might ask to have someone as translation checker and pick up the project to complete. Don't get your hopes up on that though, I think I'd be bothering too much if I ask someone to help with my translation, and I'm generally lazy. Though one of my quality checkers did say he'd be glad to do the cleaning and editing for me so all I'd have to do is translate and give directions on how I want the typesetting.

Poncho has short chapters, so even if I don't decide to pick up the project, I can see myself handling another chapter on my own. Would just rather more experienced hands get on it.

I like Akira's attitude.

Also, I love your fonts. I like how you picked nice fonts to reflect the original material and use good equivalents that you could find that could replace the same feel each font was supposed to. It's decently sized too.

As for sound effects, have you considered romanizing it or coming up with equivalents to put next to the original Japanese sound effects (kind of like official English Yotsuba&! does)?

Ah, I'm glad this is back on YouTube. I missed this dearly, since it was taken down for inappropriate content before.

Ah, I'm glad this is back on YouTube. I missed this dearly, since it was taken down for inappropriate content before.

Sound effects are often hard to find a nice translation for. There's a nice database here that has a lot, but sometimes it's hard to appropriately convey them in English. I could romanize then, but sometimes they're stylized nicely or look awkward romanized (like the う’s for Pon's holding back her tears in page 5.) If the sound effect is important (ding dong) I'll translate it, otherwise I'll just leave it be for simplicity's sake.\\

BUMP because I have less things to do with my time now so decided I'd give another chapter a spin. Didn't know it's been a full month since then either, time moving pretty fast.

Here's the first few pages for Poncho chapter 2. I'll probably leave it at this for tonight because I've got more to study before the night is over. Poncho chapters are so short that this is like half of the chapter right here. I paid very close attention to the comments regarding my typesetting from the last chapter, so please let me know if the typesetting looks more neat this time around. Not as many fancy fonts in this chapter as the 1st, so didn't get a chance to play around with cute font faces yet.

Cool, an update. I can't tell you whether it's neater or not, but I found both chapters to be easy to read.

YES YES

Come on, do the whole thing. I'd love to read it.

I'd love to, but my problem is I don't want to provide erroneous translations and discourage groups with better translators to pick it up. I could probably just find someone that can work translation check for the parts I'm uncertain of, but I'm more of a solo worker and don't really have friends I can call upon directly for help.

My translations are good and I really try my best to keep the feel and atmosphere of the original lines (why Pon sometimes talks awkwardly, especially with how she calls Hiroshi "boyfriend" which later does feed into jokes). I'd love to keep translating because I feel there are too many groups that don't take the time to make sure the little things get noted in translations. But I'm simply not at the level yet where I can comfortably do this. I guess if anything, I still have the pdf files and could do a 2nd translation when I'm better at Japanese, but that'd just be a pain for manga hosting sites and such to update to the newer translations.

It's less because I'm lazy and more because I care for the manga and care for the readers picking it up. I have pride in how closely I try to stick to the original without doing literal translation, but I'm not confident enough to say the translation itself is accurate enough. Poncho isn't too hard to translate, but I'm far from fluent in the language so can't properly translate some lines.

Please try to understand. If I look over chapter 3 later today and it seems I won't have a problem with it, I may consider it. This chapter's last page had a rather long line I was iffy on, but I think I conveyed the meaning of it properly.

Don't be so hard on yourself. The translations are pretty good. Also, if you say no fansub is on it atm, just do it, no one will care.

You could translate it terribly for all we would know, and it wouldn't make a difference.

The one you're using in the manga text bubbles.

Wildwords for the default text, if that's what you mean. But I use a ton of others too.
