Thanks to raised damage cap in JMS...meaning it'll eventually arrive for you guys over in GMS.

Us xbows finally got something that puts us well ahead of other (not all) characters in terms of bossing, considering maxed sniping is 10 seconds...6 snipes a minute = roughly 1.2m damage, NOT counting all the strafes in between. I've managed to get the kill from a free-for-all Anego(with bowmasters and NL's around), smashed all arms off Zakum with a bishop alone in roughly an hour, and Pap only takes about 10-15 minutes now. JMS doesn't have ridiculously overpowered atk pots, otherwise, I'd probably be done in 5 minutes with an onyx apple. lol
So heroes with panic, shadowers with assassinate, and other characters that used to get capped at 99999 damage rejoice!

didnt isaac say kms removed the 99k damage cap completely (or raised significantly)? since with 4th job, panic is 'useless' being limited to only hitting 99k and there are things in temple of time with more than 100k hp.

Impressive, this is amazing for Paladins.
However, how would Heaven's Hammer now work? max damage? If the damage cap is removed, you can theoretically use hh and kill zakum in 2 hits, if HH is fixed that way.

yeah, I think the new cap is something like 255k, this is just the same thing in JMS.

How will Pierce work out now? Will the max damage done for the last hit be 635~ k damage then?

Currently in GMS, the pierce cap is roughly 250k if I remember the other thread correctly. I believe the snipe is still 99999, so this is great news indeed.

if the damage cap is 199k, then Pierce's max damage through proposed corrections would be 497.6k

I know this might sound stupid but...
Did they ever fix the pierce glitch? Last I heard the top ten Marksmen in Khaini all quit their Xbows.

I'm thinking that our cap might be...limited a bit. As others are stating, Onyx apples are in abundance. I don't even want to begin to think about how fast some things will go down with the new cap...
Granted, I'm all for it. I just think something between Onyx Apples and the new cap, a line will be drawn and they'll cut something off there. :X

OMG! Amandaaaaaaaaaaaaa :heart: It's been such a long time! lol I've gone quite a long way since quitting Scania. JMS started to die out completely but I managed to revive it in the past 5-6 months. My server's the only one left with english players. lol The 200k sniping is absolutely incredible, you'll go nuts with it when you get it. I managed to get the kill on a free-for-all Anego, going up against a bunch of NL's and bowmasters, plus the whole zakum arm smashing thing. I'm at the bottom left.

We THINK it might be possible to beat zakum in a 2 man party, given enough pots and my friend Tomo gets max AR. Also, the cap is 200k, not 250k...if it were 250k, then sniping would be doing that much instead.

I'm glad marksmen and shadowers will finally have something to bring them up to the level of NLs and BMs.
I think shadowers might actually do better DPS by letting their assassinate charge up for 3 seconds, rather than spamming it. Especially if they apple and pass that damage cap.

I think it's generally accepted that snipe does cap - monster defense on bosses and automatic instakill on non-bosses.
Pierce actually breaks the regular damage cap to go to nearly 250k because of the multiplicative formula it uses (although it might still DC you after 200k, I forget). As was already mentioned in this thread, a 200k general cap would mean pierce's new cap would be nearly 500k.

ya but the charge times to increase damage are 3/6/9/12 seconds oO
Well if you include casting time then that'd b right.
2 seconds would be - 600% x 4 = 2400%
5 seconds would be - 1200% x 4 = 4800%
so 5/2 = 2.5
4800%/2.5 = 1920%
Meh I guess ur right
I guess it'll only work for things like pap and super def up

The 199k cap wont make much difference to me, its not going to help in training any more than it is now...and I never boss.

Wow, really? The moment I hit level 100, I dropped GMS like a bad habit and stuck to JMS full-time. Still, it's nice to know I'm still remembered!
About piercing...unless you can guarantee getting yourself into lots of boss runs, I'd say go with piercing. I maxed sniping first since afternoon in America = midnight in Japan, so I can just walk right into a zakum solo if I wanted to, along with any other boss in the game. Piercing absolutely rocks at training on skelegons and maxing it will just make it that much easier for you to level. Bishop on top/xbow master on bottom with piercing = incredible combination.

it not only will help marksman/shadower/hero, but i think will help paladin the most.
with an apple, i can see constant 99999 dmg vs elemental weak boss, and like 50% of the time against neutral boss, it will make paladin more effective against boss, because blast is spammable, not like panic that need have all charge up to deal max dmg.

This is a late reply so sorry in advance for the necro-posting... but I wanted to share my opinion...
I'm actually kind of disappointed the cap is only 200k. It does make sense, since Snipe and Heaven's Hammer is set to always hit max damage I believe, and as such a damage cap over 200k will start to make those two skills extremely overpowered.
However, for Blast... 200k isn't high enough.
With 1150 STR, and perhaps a 125 2h sword, 15 gloves, 8 cape, 5 shoes, 100 apple, 12 from Blessing of the Sprite, and +4% from Echo of Hero, you're dealing around 211k max on a holy weak monster with Sharp Eyes crit (on 0 wdef monster). And there is still a lot of room for improvement for a character with equips like that. And even further improvements may come along... those Medals will give us more STR, and there just might be ATK earrings someday.
I guess it isn't that big of a deal, since Paladins will only hit over 200k on holy weak monsters with an apple with a Sharp Eyes crit on a high damage hit, which is very rare. But still, while it would be a wonderful feeling of accomplishment to break the new damage cap, it really hurts to know that you are being handicapped by the damage cap AGAIN (although not by as much this time around). There's already two 200 Paladins and a level 198 one, and many new Paladins are going up in levels, so I'm sure a handful of players will hit that 200k+ before long.
Oh and I forgot, Blunt Weapon users hit even higher than sword users, so it's even easier for them to break the cap...

Well, I would agree since it is true those conditions of holy weak, apple, and SE will rarely apply in MS. But if a holy weak boss does turn up one day, damage lost to the cap will accumulate up over time and become wasted potential which is rather discouraging.
I'd have to agree with the comment about the Onyx Apples though. They really did screw things pretty good. Since Snipe will be doing 200k apple or not, the apples in gMS takes away some of the rejoice that Marksmen would normally be having from this update.
