1. Introduction to Magicians

Magicians have high intelligence and are a class of very low strength. Weapons of choice are Staves and Wands and their clothing has minimal defense.

2. Beginning Ability Points

To become a perfect magician, your STR and DEX must be at 4. It will take some time to roll these stats. Getting them quickly will most likely be very difficult. INT and LUK stats can be anything. Having 5 STR/DEX is fine as well, so don't spend hours trying to get the perfect roll..

3. Allocation of Ability Points

LUK should always be 3 above your current level. Allocate the rest of the Ability Points into INT. Also know that at some point, Magicians will have to cap their LUK. I capped mine at 60 but really you can cap it at anything.

4. Becoming A Magician

In order to become a Magician, you must be at least level 8 with at least 20 INT. Once you are ready, head over to Ellinia, and go to the very top of the town. On the top platform, you will see the Magic Library, go inside and you will see Grendel the Really Old. Talk to him and he will advance you to a Magician.

From Grendel the Really Old at the Magic Library , you'll receive a Level 1 Skill Book called "Introduction to Magic". When you open the skill menu you'll see the list of skills you can learn and the SP available for you to invest in skills you'd like to master. You'll receive 3 SP for every level up, and some of the skills require you to master other skills first. The book has basic skills of a magician that specializes in magic and defense.

8. Introduction to Clerics

Clerics do not possess the attacking spells of elements like fire and ice, but clerics have holy spells that are very powerful against undead and evil-based monsters. They skills that make up for their low stamina and guarding abilities and are the only magicians able to cast heal.

Pro’s and Con’s

Pro’s: Cleric’s are one of the best money making classes out there. They use very little HP potions and use their MP to heal themselves. Shining Ray is much better than Ice Strike in the end.

Con’s: You can get bored easily from just spam healing. People often blame you if they die. Cleric’s don’t really have that great of damage at this point.

9. Becoming A Cleric

Talk to Grendel the Really old in Ellinia and he will talk about how much stronger you have become. He'll also make an offer that if you pass a simple test, he'll make you even more powerful than you already are. He will then send you to talk to the Job Advancement Instructor who is located at the top Forest North of Ellinia (http://global.hidden-street.net/maps/viellinianorth.php#forestnorthofellinia) . Once the instructor receives the letter from you, you'll be taken inside, where the instructor tells you to collect 30 Dark Marbles by defeating monsters inside. Make sure that you stock up on pots before you enter. You will not receive experience while defeating the monsters. Once all 30 Dark Crystals have been collected, the instructor will award you with a Proof of a Hero, and you'll take that back to Grendel the Really Old in Ellinia, where then you'll advance as the Cleric.

Heal: Level 30 (Maxed)
MP Eater: Level 20 (Maxed)
Invincible (Level 20 (Maxed)
Bless: Level 20 (Maxed)
Holy Arrow: Level 30 (Maxed)

Heal should be maxed because that is the main purpose of a Cleric and is a unique skill in which you heal a certain percent of your hp, and the undead monsters in the area will also take damage. Heal heals a maximum of 5
monsters at a time. The higher the lvl of heal, the more hp you heal of
you and your party members. Heal damage is based on your Intelligence.

Teleport should be maxed because it is needed for some Party Quest and is needed for the Guild Party Quest. Teleport is very helpful to get you to different places that other's can not get to and as well as moving along quickly.

The higher the level of your MP Eater, the more MP you will "absorb" from the monsters. Which in turn saves you from buying expensive pots. MP Eater will only work if you attack the monster with a magic attack. The magic attack can absorb the monster’s mp and transfer it to your’s.

Invincible will reduce weapon damage from all monsters. When maxed, it can reduce 30% of a monster’s attack. If a monster does 100 damage you will only receive 70 damage from it.

Bless will increase you and the parties avoidably, accuracy, weapon defense, and magic defense. The higher the skill level, the longer bless lasts, and the more avoid, accuracy, weapon defense, and magic defense the party gets. This is a much wanted skill from a lot of people, so you will get partied often for having Bless.

Heal and invincible are a must for Clerics so they should ALWAYS be maxed no matter what. Bless and teleport are extremely useful. MP Eater doesn’t have to be maxed. 1 skill point can work just fine. It will also save you a lot of money. If you are a solo cleric, than the MP Eater maxed can help a lot. I think it all depend’s on what you want to do in your own personal build. Holy arrow may or may not be maxed because it will be replaced by Angel Ray in the 4th job. So once again, it’s all a personal preference. I myself have not maxed it because I’m waiting for Angel Ray.

Awesome guide. Simple enough to not be confusing and short enough to keep readers interested.

I'll post a suggestion when I find one. By the way, I like the use of links in the guide. Maybe you could add pictures/animations of what the skills look like when used (just to spice up the guide with pictures and colors)?

i would suggest elaborating on the 'whys'. ex: you max heal first because___, you do mp eater next because ____. because right now, youre just telling people to "do it this way". thats what guides do but good guides would add in "because". :P

also, i strongly discouraging presenting the ditching teleport in the 2nd job guide. maxed teleport not only saved mp, but is noticeably increased in teleport distance well. a high level of teleport is needed for certain specific pqs (not sure which since i dont pq) and also needed for gpq.

also for a solo cleric, it is still more prefered that you drop either mp eater or holy arrow since holy arrow will be replaced by angel ray in 4th and maxed teleport will save you more money than mp eater can.

if you want to present people with "more than one way to build a cleric" then you can do either dropping HA and not dropping HA (but drop eater instead).

Aren't you submitting your guide a bit late? Fiel gave us all of September to submit our guides o.O But someone allowed the guide in, so I guess it's okay with them...

During the 2nd job advancement test, the items are called Dark Marble, not Dark Crystal.

Adding on to what Butterfli said, you should ditch Holy Arrow since Shining Ray skill as a Priest has way more attack power anyways, mainly in the fact that it can hit 6 monsters. Sure, you'll be hurting now, but it will be a lot better if you can reap the benefits later than have obsolete skills sitting in your skill inventory.

Yea I talked to Fiel about it and he said he would accept anything till Midnight tonight. Yea, I typed the wrong thing lol I meant to fix it but it slipped my mind. Thanks for reminding me.

Also, I will be editing it tomorrow. I'm just to tired right now.

I think the entire event ends at midnight, not just the submitting...
I could be wrong.

Though I don't like the feel of this guide.
It's just straight-out information, without anything out of the ordinary.
The tone is monotonous and didactic... not good!
Yes, it is clean and simple, but it's too simple!

There's nothing wrong with an HA option... as long as the 3rd job section presents the accompanying options (ie. dropping points out of dragon/doom/door) to fill out whichever of teleport/eater you didn't max out before.

Dragon in particular becomes just as useless as HA does :-P Due to the requirement of 15 for bahamut, you can easily pull the other 15 points out of that and a 4 from doom to max teleport.

Ok, so far, I have a problem with the cleric skill builds.

For the most part for solo clerics, you should only add one to MP Eater and max everything else.

As for party clerics, having Bless early on is a boost for PQing (which is something party clerics will do of course), so after maxing Heal, I'd have 5 on Invincible, then work on Bless until it's maxed, and then go back to maxing Invincible. Also, (though this applies to both builds) usually Teleport is a low priority to max and I'd only advise doing that around the 60s.

I apologize for the lack of knowledge about solo cleric's since I am a party priest. I will make the changes that you guys are talking about. Thanks alot for the input. I tried asking my BL/Guild about soloing but no one went that build so It was kind of difficult so I just browsed different guides getting ideas.

Thanks for the help guys =)

I tried asking my BL/Guild about soloing but no one went that build so It was kind of difficult so I just browsed different guides getting ideas.
its difficult to find answers to and define what a 'solo cleric' is because what makes them different from party ones?

-always soloing

thats pretty much it since party and solo are both given the same skills. regardless, it is ALWAYS more beneficial in terms of faster exp and faster level if you kill in mobs rather than single targets (its why archmages train faster than NLs, and why himes are so popular). in the 2nd job, you have heal to take you to 3rd job faster than HA ever will. in 3rd job, you have shining ray and himes.

compare using HA to kill one grim while running around and mobbing up grims then killing with SR.

clerics are not very diverse because they have much more supportive skills than offensive skills thus giving them little variation on their builds.

it also raises the question 'why make a solo cleric when you can level faster in parties?'. if you want to be unique, why not make an hp warrior or beginner?

Try using your training experiences for the guide. Also, tell what is great for money and which areas are crowded. Good Work:shine:

seems to me that your "party" build would be more equipped towards soloing, which in my opinion should be the best build for cleric training.

heal first is automatic
teleport will save you more money than mp eater can
mp eater will eliminate your pot usage until you train with magic guard
invincible is an indispesable skill which you need in later levels
bless is just there and it happens to be better than holy arrow
holy arrow is just not worth getting.

Wrong. Clerics save money, not make it.

Other than that, very good guide, simple and neat.
