View Full Version : Upgrade Completed
We've relocated to a new host, upgraded 11 or so sub-versions of vBulletin and gained a few new features as well as some slightly new looks.
Some things you should now have available -
Facebook integration - If you're logged into facebook while browsing the site you should have the ability to "like" most things and to some extent cross-post anything to your wall. The login to facebook/via facebook up top may not be 100% working yet but the other features should. You can now customize your vbulletin profile as others see it by clicking the Customize button above your visitor messages. You can now set your profile's privacy settings. RSS should work properly now for people who like that sort of thing. The "Go to first new post" buttons finally work again. Advanced search allows you to search across multiple content types. Southperry now supports TapATalk (http://www.tapatalk.com/mobile.php) for people who want to pay $3.00 to browse a smartphone customized version of the site (Note there's no way to disable site ads for donors on this platform at this time).
Some of the updated style elements are fugly. Yes we know. You really don't need to report it, it's being worked on.
The new DNS information is still propagating, this will temporarily interfere with some features that access external sites such as Facebook and TapATalk
Please use the bug reporting forum (http://www.southperry.net/forumdisplay.php?f=9046) to report any issues you find with the new upgrades.

Requests to be changed / added:
- When you use "What's New?" (find the new posts since last visit), the forum name and post date seem to have been switched, is it possible to switch those back again (like before the upgrade)? I'm not really interested -when- something is posted, i rather have the sub-forum name standing below the topic title, like it always was! :)
- Some vbulletin forum have to option of "Show posts of the last 24 hours", can this feature be added?
Tnx in advance! :)

Sometimes on news or blog sites with a facebook integrated comment section, the comment box already knows who I am even without me clicking on anything. Is this just on my end, or is Facebook really that creepy and these sites know who I am just because I go there while facebook is logged in but I haven't expressly told them I wanted to connect to their site through facebook?

And could we get a shortened list of the really obvious style elements so we know which not to complain about? I've noticed a few things.

The most obvious error, there is a hughe space left in small posts now.

A couple of things are wonky. Everything seems as a larger font, unless that is a new default to make things larger.

The "Go to first new post" buttons finally work again.
Awesome! :glitter: Thanks so much for fixing that.

I'd like to request this as well.
EDIT: I also noticed that there's a gap between the username and the user title on posts (look to the left).
When I log onto http://southperry.net/, I get a 403 error. I have to log in via http://www.southperry.net/forumdisplay.php?f=18. (http://www.southperry.net/forumdisplay.php?f=18)

I also got a 403 error, but adding in the www seemed to have fixed it.

One question for now: Is it intended that when a thread has multiple pages that the page number box isn't highlighted anymore?
*Holy huge space after post. Batman!

I knew that feature was a bad idea. :f3:

You'll need to elaborate on that one.

Thanks a lot though :glitter:

You'll need to elaborate on that one.
Your signature can be as long as you want (space it occupies) look at IllegallySane's sig.

Somewhat true. A better exmaple would be SolarBoy had an entire picture in her sig, probably ~400-500 pixels high.

Like this (yeah you can put a 1440x900 picture in your sig, for those that missed it).

Nigger please with that sig.
Hm.
Is it fixed, and if so what did fixing it break?
The vB team actually commented out the variable that feature relied on for no identifiable reason.

Testing to see if it's fixed...
EDIT: Nope. Longcat goes all the way down the page if you open my spoiler.

Being spoilered may actually change how it behaves.

I think thats an adjustment from the test server. Over there everything was a smaller font than usual (I think it was a completely different font) so to fix that, everything is bigger.
Thats just my assumption, dont hold me to it.

Unspoiler'd now. Still shows a huge image without a cutoff.
EDIT: Removed it so it wouldn't be a huge spam thing all over the forums. But yea, still unlimited space.

I don't really like how when using "New Posts" the forum the thread is in was moved from the far left of the row to the right. :S It makes distinguishing funhouse threads a lot harder because my eyes have to move more.
