View Full Version : I'm being shamed for different characters.

Alright, I'm just gonna put this out there because I don't know what to do anymore.

Everyone in my guild always shames me because I have more than one character..
They're like "Dude, you have like a million characters... LOL." Is that even a bad thing? Sometimes it's hard to play on just one class because a person gets bored and it's great to raise a set of characters and feel good about it.

I don't know sometimes, I actually agree with them but I don't at the same time.

This is how it works with me:
"Oh I love my Aran..I love pirates, but I really like Resistance Battle Mages and Mechanics, but..but I should make a KoC."

I always feel like this..and I think it's because I'm not that successful in the game overall quite honestly.
I believe that if I was more rich and had better items, I would not be so "un-attached" to classes, and I would focus more on one thing.

Okay, so this is what I have so far:

Aran In Misery - Lv. 74

Outlaw - Lv. 75

Battle Mage [3rd Job] - Lv. 90

Mechanic [3rd Job] - Lv. 72

But yeah..
I hate thinking about this..I don't know what I should focus on, or if it would be a bad thing making more characters..
I just don't know anymore. People always pick on me for this. ;~;

To be honest, if I were to make another character, it would be a Cygnus Knight or a Buccaneer. I never really got into making one, and would it be smart to do so? UA's are coming soon as well. o:
Either a Dawn Warrior, Wind Archer, or Thunder Breaker.

But with Thunder Breakers, would it be better to make a Bucc, or Thunder Breaker?
[Basically, if I were to make another character, should it be a KoC, or a Bucc? Or..both?]

Sounds more like they're teasing you rather than shaming you.

In my case, I have (I'll use GMS names)...

Lv127 Aran
Lv100 Dual Blade
Lv81 Outlaw
Lv81 Chief Bandit
Lv78 Evan
Lv73 Chief Bandit (STR)
Lv63 Cleric
Lv56 Page
Lv40 Blaze Wizard

+ Lots of Lv3x characters which I gave up on.

Currently training a Dawn Warrior (Lv21).

So...yeah, I'm the same way. XD

Make a Cygnus, not for the UA since that is a rather lolworthy thing in the end, but for the 24 att boost it will bring for your account. Thunder Breakers are a nifty pick and will be better and faster than a brawler for the entire 120 level life spawn.
Also, for the love of Jebus, do not center your text like that, it's an eyesore and plain wrong. EDIT: that goes for Hanabira.Kage too!

@Hanabira.Kage: Hey, LOL we have the same typing style! XD.

Also, this made me feel much better..ahah..n_n.
Sometimes, I feel more attached to my Aran than anything.
I remember the day I made him when Arans came in late 2009.

@Carrion: B-But I like typing this way. ;A;

Blessing of the fairy currently give you 1 point per every 10 levels on your highest character right? For me I get 18 points in it from my NL to the rest of my account, and the NL gets 12 points from my 120 Cygnus. After next patch Cygnus characters get a better blessing, they get 1 point per 5 levels instead. A level 120 Cygnus will then give you a better blessing than a level 200 adventurer. 24 attack versus 20 for astronomicaly less invested time. The Cygnus itself would still get the normal blessing from the highest character on the account though. The new blessing does not stack with BoF.
And even if you do like to type like that, it is still wrong. xP

Oh, okay. I feel like making a Cygnus Knight now.
I just thought Buccs would be fun? I don't know honestly..

Okay so here's the deal. I'm going with making a KoC but Wind Archer, Dawn Warrior, or Thunder Breaker?
I also like Buccs a lot. :x

And honestly, is it really that bad to have that many characters? The ones that I listed in the first post.

I don't think it's bad to have a lot of characters (of course, I have pretty much every 2nd job out there or higher)... you should play the game the way it's fun for you. Right now I mostly like playing my Dark Knight, so I do.

I always feel like this..and I think it's because I'm not that successful in the game overall quite honestly.
Question: How can you be successfull in a game? If it does what it's supposed to do. What's a game supposed to do? Entertain/relax you.
Are you having fun while playing your characters? Then congrats, you are successfull in MS :)

Also, 4 chars isn't that bad. I Have 8 (low lvl mechanic and BaM not listed in my sig).

I don't think there's anything wrong with having multiple characters. I'm quite the bandwagon-er myself.

I just feel bad for my buddies who constantly have to add a new "Bacon" to their buddy lists.

It's only bad if you have every character in the same guild (and are therefore wasting space) OR if you make a new character every month and don't actually play any of them (I'M LOOKING AT YOU KAWJI, IF YOU COME IN THIS THREAD AND SEE THIS POST >:o)

I only have two characters in my guild. o:

Also @Bacon:
I don't know if Pirate Adventurers are still considered bandwagon, to be honest, but that doesn't matter to me. As long as I'm having fun.

ALSO EVERYONE!

Okay so tell me.
Knight of Cygnus: Wind Archer / Dawn Warrior / Thunder Breaker

Should I also make a Bucc?

(Side-note: I never made any type of Archer. I tried Wild Hunter and hated the gameplay, and deleted it. That is all. I do have a Warrior-base (Aran), but I don't have any knuckle-based pirates so...)

Exactly. My guild has a mule guild to dump non-focused-on characters so we have space for others, etc.
And they're alliances too!
I just decided to pick my Mechanic and Outlaw to stay in the guild.

@Everyone: Any suggestions at my post before this one?

Bacon

Honestly, just make whatever you feel like making. If you're making a KoC solely for the 24 attack buff, then I suggest a Dawn Warrior because they level outrageously fast and have crazy damage. Otherwise, just pick something that sounds interesting and give it a shot. If you like it, continue it. If you don't, start another character.

I tend to have multiple characters because it helps me to understand the strengths and weaknesses of them, how they can fit with other groups and how to adapt. As of right now I have:

170 NL (main)
147 Bishop
126 DrK
111 Wind Archer
80 Aran
70 Thunder Breaker and Wild Hunter
66 Evan
50 Axe fighter
and a lvl 30 Mechanic

I agree that it's probably more teasing than shaming, but apparently it touches a sore spot for you.
I also agree that as long as you're enjoying the game and not hurting anyone, nobody can tell you you're doing it wrong or "failing". Having many characters, of which none are beyond early 3rd job, does make it seem like you lack the discipline to keep training a character once it can't level twice an hour. However, it's a game, not your homework. If you don't feel like applying discipline, you don't have to. I do believe that by not going further you're missing out on quite a bit of fun content, but, well, none of us can experience all the game has to offer, unless we get to level 160 or so on every class there is.

As for your second question: personally I find Dawn Warriors very easy and fun, so I recommend that.

And an aside about your writing style: using a "unique" or "special" or "personal" format, instead of the standard way English is written, is annoying. Yours is not quite as bad as ALL CAPS or l33t, but it still takes attention away from what you have to say. If you are trying to get people to answer your questions (or understand your answers), the least you can do is present them in a legible way.

I have tons of chars, but it's not that I get bored of playing as one or anything. I just like them all :f2:

121 Shadower (just recently started training with this one. Well... just 2x Paps daily actually lol)
108 BaM (gonna get this to 120 after all of my chars are 100+, 'cept for NW)
104 DB (inactive, since I'm still deciding on a skill build)
103 Priest (inactive for now)
100 Aran (reached 100, inactive)
98 Marauder (going for 100)
91 Outlaw (same)
91 Assassin (same)
90 Evan (same)
67 NW (gonna level only when 24 buff comes around, I think... but somehow I regret having a NW instead of another class, since I already have a sin)
-- Mech (still wondering if I should make one :f3:)

Funny thing is that my HS mule might actually reach 4th before any of my 120- chars. lol

Dude, when I played JapanMS, I switched characters whenever I got bored with one. Which I'd usually only get to level 40ish... don't worry. I've had at least 40 or so characters in my Maple career.

You need to play characters to find which one you like. The nice thing about Big Bang is it's not hard to find what you might like.

Main account:

114 Dawn Warrior
56 Gunslinger
143 Dual Blade (Main)
42 Wild Hunter
45 Battle Mage
89 Mechanic
55 Evan (Deleted for Resistance)
59 Aran (Deleted for Resistance)

Other accounts:
130 Night Lord
71 Priest
71 Ice Lightning Mage
82 Priest

I don't think you really have anything to worry about.

Hi, Why do you center your text?

To make people like you ask questions?

@OT.

My sig only has 6 of my characters. This doesnt include other accounts which are now banned for various reasons. I've also deleted a level 50 Dexless fighter before I converted my Hero, I've deleted a 48 aran (hate them), numerous preBB Bandits (Couldn't seem to get past maxing SB and mastery...), a couple hunters, a couple ILs, a cleric, an FP. All the deleted characters were in the 4X preBB, so we're talking like a few days work tops.

I'm one of those people that can't really stick with a class until it's level 70. Once it's 70 I find it a LOT easier to level. It's mainly because all the "Physical" classes are so similar (Warriors/bowmen/dits) consisting of Booster, Mastery, and a new attack or two, possibly a buff. The skills you get 30-70 are all very useful, but lackluster... I won't make a DK until UA is released because of that. I LOVE warriors post 70, it's getting to 70 that bugs me...

I'm the same way. Except I liked about 4 chars. 1 was my main, the rest I leeched since I had good friends who Anegoed and friends who gave me info to their Bishops to leech myself.

I agree with your guild. You're missing out on the bigger picture in MS, the better bosses and gameplay, by switching between characters so much.

2011-02-14, 01:26 PM
They say that if you run after two hares, you won't catch either one. But maybe you don't want to catch one; maybe running after multiple hares is what you enjoy doing. Not the best analogy, but you get the idea. If Big Bang didn't make job leaping so much easier, I might have quit.

Worthyness
2011-02-14, 01:51 PM
lol just look in my sig. I can play any number of characters that i want. I'm more akin to melee characters though.

15x bishop (was a leech mule, but is now an emergency bishop for boss runs and general HS mule).
140 bowmaster
142 buccaneer
140 Shadower
111 Mechanic
71 Aran
70 battlemage
70 Wildhunter
random bits of level 50 characters (at least 1 of each remaining class and for CPQ mules if we feel like farming)
BUNCH of level 1-10 characters as storage.

I could honestly have access to my cousin or my brothers characters (which are significantly higher than my characters only because they stick to training one of them and i like multiple) AND they're each a different class than my characters. It's not bad to have multiple characters, especially if you have ones for bossing(like a DrK, a bowmaster, a wildhunter, a Night Lord, or a corsair, etc.) This gets you into moderate- low level bossing, but if you want to experience more higher level stuff, you're better off training to 16x at least. For me, I think i'll just stick to what i do best: Play every character for the fun of it.

That is also forced on me because Win 7 dc's me everytime i go bossing that's not Pap. I DC at scarlion, CWKPQ, Zakum and more.

2011-02-14, 03:34 PM
OR if you make a new character every month and don't actually play any of them

This sounds just like me. It's like play my drk for a month, then get bored and play something else for a month, get bored of that and go back to drk never to return to the mule.
