A friend of mine allowed me to gain access to a 121 Priest. Yes, priest. He quit it before leafre and 4th job came out, and never advanced it.

I'm currently spending my time hunting for a flamekeeper cordon, but I really think I can get the damage way higher then what it currently is. Here's the current stuff that is on there:

15/14/15/15/148/149/21/20 10 slot zHelm
Clean earrings (no bonus)
Clean bathrobe
Clean ludibrium cape
4 INT 3 LUK Blue Clarity gloves, 5 slots
93 M. Att 4 Slots Black Umbrella
2 INT 0 Slot Esther Shield
1 DEX 4 INT 1 LUK 6 Speed 2 Jump lvl 80 Shoes, 0 slots

I'd really like to use this to stock up on some 1h sword GM scrolls that are currently in the exchange quest through a glitch, and I figure a lvl 121 Priest/Bishop could work just fine. I don't want to try and put too much money/NX into it. I trust him to the point that he won't bother stealing anything I do put on it, but he does have access/control over the account still. The problem is that, at this point, I take way too much time to kill just about anything in CWK. The most I'm seeing are 5k's from Heal on Firebrand 2's. Also, for w/e reason, the 3 skill points it should have from level 121 aren't there. It has level 23 Doom and 1 Mystic Door, max everything else, so I assume they were added to Doom. :X

I will advance it later, but yea...

So, does anyone have any cheap suggestions on where to start? I know there are plenty of things including m. att gloves, better staves/wands, and so on, but I really don't know much about mages aside from buffs=survival. :X

Any help is appreciated. :f2:

EDIT: Oh, right. Its stats are 4/4/538/84 clean, and 19/19/563/103 with equips. I don't have a maple leaf currently. It has 1497 HP and 8662 MP.

EDIT2: It is in Khaini, the same server as my crusader. It does not currently have a deputy star so I am considering getting one and then selling it to have a starting point. :)

First of all, get a proper magician overall and a cheap scrolled magicodar or a clean one. You could also get some cheap scrolled earrings and a decent spiegelmann necklace. Get a deputy star, and sell it for the funds to get this stuff.

Don't go for nightshadow badges or flamekeeper cordons; your genesis won't be strong enough to take them out at a decent rate. How many mesos are you willing to spend on the priest?

It came with 7m. I'll have to talk to the guy, see where my limitations are on using it. XD

And IDK about decent rate or w/e, but I've been in the stormbreaker/flamekeeper map killing them and not burning any potions. At all. I've been there about 40 minutes and gained ~4%? :s Obviously not great training but I really want a pair for my crusader. :X For w/e reason Firebrand 2's are undead AND restore my MP thanks to MP eater. :)

I do plan on getting some sort of overall. As for the pendant, I figure I'll get the deputy star on the priest and then sell it off and just transfer my crusader's back and forth as I need to.

I really don't want to put too much into it because my crusader is kinda poor as it is. :X

you seem to have no idea what going to be doing with it. you're mostly using it to farm quests for money. my suggestion would be to not play it because you dont seem interested in playing. as a magician, you should notice that no matter how much your equiping this priest so far, his damage is not going up by a lot. so you can go out and train, play, etc to see if you actually like it because you arent suffering too much from lack of equipment.

you really dont know what a bishop is like until you get genesis so until then i would hold off on putting serious effort into funding it.

Just +7 your earrings. Then advance so you don't need to farm using Heal.

I mainly wanted it to try to farm the monsters. I knew they were weak but blech. X_x

I am kind of tempted just to train it to get genesis and then seeing if leeching my crusader would be possible, but yea...

TBH, I'm having a lot of fun messing around at Firebrands. IDK why either...it's just fun telecasting and stuff. o.o

Well, if you want to farm firebrands with your bishop, I'd suggest leveling its genesis up so that it can at least 1-hit the first form and 2-hit the second form. This'll make badge farming much easier, and you can just restore hp and mp eat with heal when you're low on hp/mp.

So from what I'm seeing, it's basically a combination of genesis, lvl 9 maple warrior, and 1 ressurection. So should I go with both genesis and maple warrior or focus on one and then the other? :s

I think I can level it to 130ish without too many problems...

To the best of my knowledge 4th jobbers get the useful skills maxed by lvl 150. For Bishop, you will get lvl 30 Gen, lvl 10 Res, lvl 20 MW and max Bahamut. If you're willing to train a few hours a day, you'll get there.

My suggestion is find out whether the character is yours to keep. If it's yours to keep, forget about farming and just start grinding. Even with lesser gear, most people will want to party you for your skills. And even if your ultimate is not maxed you're hitting 15 targets rather than just one or even a few, so it's good XP. You will of course have to get in a long line in Horntail to get lvl 30 Genesis and lvl 20 MW, but as a Bishop you're more likely to get entry to Horntail than some other classes. Horntail drops a shitload of good stuff, and getting a split from HT is a better way to make mesos than probably any farming method you're thinking of.

Considering he hasn't touched it at all since Leafre/4th job, if not earlier, I'm pretty sure he's done with it. I think he just hangs onto it because it is a priest/to be bishop after all. He's fine with me doing w/e, so I really don't think he would take it back if I were to train it. I've known him since his 6x. He's now in his 15x. :s

Currently my best farming method is leprechauns/mini bosses. :X I'd really like to try and get those 7 10% GM scrolls for 1h sword att to scroll my lunchbox that I'll get in a few days. It would be the cheapest way to get some really godly item for my crusader at level 120. :s

Not to mention the possibility of leeching my crusader to 120 by using the bishop. :)

My current problem is trying to get somebody to kill manon. A friend of mine killed one of each griffey and manon, and I got the griffey drop. Just need the manon. :X

Don't get your hopes up for a GM scroll... you'd probably need about 1000 badges to even have a shot at one, and good luck trying to find like 10 within an hour =/

I know, and it looks like they'll fix it before I have a chance to actually try for one. <_<

Still, can't hurt to try. :P

I advanced, and I'll be working on the quests for Genesis/Bahamut. I'm going to owe me buddy list so much leeching time/healing services after I get done. XD

I wonder if selling leech is really that profitable. It seems like it, but yea...

Turned in 5000 badges and no GM Scroll =)

on topic:
Its kinda harsh that you are missing out on those SP from level 120 -> 121
Other then that get level 1 Gen and Res asap, and then get MW to 9 as allready said before. Training with Genesis is really simple if you want to farm for money espescially at those monsters you are currently at.

I know Maple Warrior adds a % of stats. I'm guessing it is most important to get that to affect your leveling? I just don't see why else you would get that before at least level 8-10 genesis.

Because your magic will be influenced alot by the amount of int you have, it is very beneficial to have MW up to 9 as soon as possible. That way you know how much magic you will have with your current equips and level 9 MW. By knowing that you can also know what level Genesis you need to (x) hit KO the monsters you train on.
The higher the amount on INT on a level up, the more Mp you will gain too, so its usefull to gain MW 9 soon for that as well.

Maple warrior gives you less of a power boost than points in genesis, but the boost also comes without a cost, while you'd have to spend more mp on genesis and possibly mesos on genesis 20. It's your choice though.

You don't lose 4th job SP if you advance late.

Genesis is probably the first skill I would get up to level 10. Though the MP cost will rise, it's not a bad of an increase if you look at the big picture.

Yea, I kind of noticed. I figured himes, but I do believe that I'm going to need some decent mesos while himing. <_<

I am tempted to push this off till November and just focus on level 20 mules/questing my sader for now. :X

EDIT: Oh, page 2. :f3: Anyways, the guy level'd it to 121 and then added 3 more Doom. I have no idea why. <_< Believe me, I wouldn't have dared to use those SP until after I advanced. :/

Well, on the bright side, third job skill resets are cheaper than fourth job ones.

Interesting, though: Since he leveled to 121 and used the SP he got (I assume you don't get SP past 120 now that 4th job is out), will the game still give you more when you advance? That would give you more SP than you actually should be able to have!

I think he'd prolly have to use 4th job ones, since they are technically 4th job points. =\ That is really sucky though.

rassilon
2008-09-23, 02:46 PM
Well, they were earned and used before 4th job was even released. How is the game going to handle that?

Oh, and Doom is a 3rd job skill, so you'd use a 3rd job reset. They work on the skills, not the points. However... I'm guessing that also means they could only be added back into a 3rd job skill. So if he reset them from Doom, he couldn't then put them into Genesis or whatever. Does anyone know for certain?

So on that note, it probably wouldn't be worth buying them, unless you wanted to move points from Doom to Door or something. (Somebody remember this puzzle for the next Tespia, maybe?)

if you already have a zhelm go to skeles and just heal them, they don't eat a ton of mp because you can use mp eater, my girlfriend lived at skeles from around lvl 105-120. Just be very vigilant on the very top ledge till you know how well you can handle it because until she got her zhelm she died there a lot.

Zhelm...+general m. def/w. def equips and/or HP equips? :X Currently all it has is the zhelm and some crappy items, including a crappy black umbrella. <_<

After you get gen, go to harps. You should at least 2 hit & if you loot you can make lots of money.

Before you get gen you can Himes mg-less.

Nope.
With Invincible you are looking at around 1300 damage.
So... A ER tube or a Wisdom staff should set you fine even you are on the low side of health.:glitter:
