Please read the entire guide, including all spoilers and credits, if you want the full effect of my crappy humor. Be warned that there is a lot of content in this guide and I use over 9,000 a bunch of spoilers.
I am fairly knowledgeable on the delicate topic of Southperry as a pretty old user, but I am known to
be unable to define the fine line between humor and insults,
be arrogant,
skim over rules,
and I tend to be immature and make bad decisions.
I am such a pessimist.
Introduction
So you came here to this Maplestory forum with no idea what would happen. Perhaps you are a refugee from Sleepywood, trying desperately to escape Adura's wrath. Or perhaps you were fed up with Basilmarket's community and wanted to have a smarter forum with the same comfort zone as Basilmarket. Or, as 99% of the people here, just wanted to see Fiel's extractions. This guide will help you familiarize yourself with Southperry, the land of chinchillas, pineapples, and Ponystars. Detailed explanations of every forum, popular threads, inside jokes, traditions, memes, and moderators will be posted. Please note that even though the MapleGuides event does end, this guide is by no means completed. After all, you could as well be creating a significant thread, become a moderator, or create a stupid meme.

Ahh...the forums. These forums are somewhat like an....educated Basilmarket. We are usually a boisterous bunch, but mature. There hasn't really been any bannings in Southperrian history, so this shows we really are mature...or the moderators are lazy. So, without further ado, here are the forum sections.

Ah, yes...the Another World section. One of the reasons this forum had died is because of inactiveness...but other than that I'm not quite sure. Maybe because the moderator retired. The active parts of this forum got split into two.

SouthPerry IRC/Vent

This isn't exactly USER CP, as I'm integrating it with private messages and visitor messages. So...yeah. Well, why not start with how to get to the User CP? Please note that this section is mostly common sense and only for complete newbies at forums.
How to get There
Click on User CP in the top left toolbar. If you seriously can't find it you're either seriously pathetic or you have pumpernickel in your eyes. If you want to exactly to know where it is, sheesh, here's a screenshot of where is it...

Stuff You Can Do
Edit Your Details
Pretty much editing your e-mail, password, birthday, and the profile information. The profile information appears under your avatar.
Edit Profile Picture
This is NOT your avatar. This appears when someone goes onto your profile when they click your name. Oh, and you can either post the direct link or upload it for yourself.
Contacts & Friends
Pretty much your friends, but not really your contacts. Friends appear with a "+" next to the name when you're looking at who's looking at a thread. When accepting a friend, make sure you check the checkbox before you hit "Accept." Some people just hit accept without clicking for some reason :f6:.
Social Groups
You need to be of gold donator status if you want to create a social group. I don't really know what to do in one, as I never been in one on any forum. (hint hint...if I win first place, I'll create the Shawn Johnson user group...)

Add or delete people on your ignore list. If view someone's post that's on your ignore list, it won't be there. Only his name and a message saying something like
This post cannot be viewed because Blankout is in your ignore list.
and an option to delete the person from your ignore list. If you choose to delete the person from your ignore list, then it will ask you to confirm. You could also hit the link in the top right corner of the post to view the post while having the user stay on your ignore list.
Blankout, I'm just picking a random example, and you're not on my ignore list :f3:.
List (private) Messages
All of the private messages you received and sent. However, what are private messages? Basically, an e-mail. You could only have 50 PMs (short for private messages) in your inbox if you haven't donated. And no, don't think dirty when you see someone type PMS.
Send New Message
Send a private message. Has all of the forum smilies, fonts, etc.
Track Messages
No idea what this does. Most likely you won't either, and you will probably never use this.
Edit Folders
Add, name, and delete folders that stores your PMs. Most likely you'll never use this either.
List Subscriptions
You can subscribe to threads :f6:. To subscribe to a thread, on the thread, go to the upper-right hand corner, open the Thread Tools window, and hit the option.

Event Reminders

Anyways, for the first couple of pages people who knew the meme were silently laughing at the people who had no idea what was going on. Dictator. Person. Owner of Sleepywood forums. His singing apparently crushes you like an elephant. Isn't Providence in any way, shape (especially), or form.

User. Moderator. It's not Cactaur, but Cactuar. Apparently a level 140 purple snail (referenced from a NxProse Q&A). Former verbal abuser/archenemy of Providence.
Chinchilla
Animal. The cute, adorable furry thing that Fiel apparently loves. We even have a chinchilla smiley :chin: and a thread devoted to chinchillas. (http://www.southperry.net/forums/showthread.php?t=196) Providence thinks pygmy goats are much cuter.

User. Moderator.. Creator of this website. Chinchilla lover. Maplestory extractor. Brother of WandererWillow. A great guy. If you wish to know or stalk him view all of his Musings. Providence would hit that!

Since I'm suppose to have frylock and meatwad together in the same sentence, I guess this is it. Oh, and I did have it earlier, but I removed it myself :f6:. Other people said Fiel removed the sentence from their guides when it got approved, mine apparently did not so I manually removed it. I'm readding this, just in case :wink:.

Person. Owner of Basilmarket. Apparently he's this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bogdan_Raczynski) dude. Providence used to KS him in Broa.

Object. Cuss censor for a female dog. Providence doesn't really love your peaches, and would never shake your tree.
Pineapple
Object. In Southperry, it replaces the F word. This can be highly amusing in the Pits of Hell rants.

Another World, someone pointed out in one of his tabs was the game "Ponystars." He became extremely defensive and blamed it on his girlfriend. The only reason that this is still alive is because I post it in every welcome thread, more on that later. Providence thinks this sounds like the title of a bestiality flick.
Pumpernickel
Object. Here's the Wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pumpernickel) if you don't know what pumpernickel is in real life. It used to replace the S word. (See Pomegranate) Providence uses this to make croutons.
Shawn Johnson
Person. I never would of thought it would of gone this far since I kind of "started" it. That being said, I also have a bunch of information on Shawn Johnson and Southperry.
It began during the pre-Beijing Olympics. I posted a message in my Sleepywoodian signature saying
"Shawn Johnson is going to win six gold medals!" or something like that. I kept on changing the fact, but it always remained about Shawn.
Then I joined Southperry, and did the same thing. I even changed my avatar to a picture of Shawn.
Then, came the PMs. GMSInfighter was like "OH MY GOD I LUUUUUUUV SHAWN JOHNSON TOO!" He changed his avatar to Shawn. We still have a nice little argument of who like her better.
Pretty soon, more users pmed/visitor messaged me about liking Shawn. They changed their avatars to a picture of her. These are the true copiers since most don't know who Shawn Johnson was during the Olympics :f6:. They somewhat stalk her now, though. Bacon thought it would be funny to have a whorish picture of her as his avatar. :f3:. I soon ate him :excellent:.
Yeah, pretty soon, threads like this (http://www.southperry.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3583) popped off and before I knew it, Shawn Johnson became sort of a legend here on Southperry.

How do you put an image here?
Go to imageshack.us or any other image-uploading website. Then, upload your image. Copy the "direct" url of the picture. Then, here, you insert it between these image tags. Try to put it into a spoiler so people with slower connections won't have to see a partially loaded image. It will also save space (on your post) and your post will look neater. Oh, and don't quote unspoiled images. Such a waste of space. If you have to quote something with a picture in it, remove the picture please.

So you came here to this Maplestory forum with no idea what would happen. Perhaps you are a refugee from Sleepywood, trying desperately to escape Adura's wrath. Or perhaps you were fed up with Basilmarket's community and wanted to have a smarter forum with the same comfort zone as Basilmarket. Or, as 99% of the people here, just wanted to see Fiel's extractions. This guide will help you familiarize yourself with Southperry, the land of chinchillas, pineapples, and Ponystars. Pretty much editing your e-mail, password, birthday, and the profile information. The profile information appears under your avatar.
Edit Profile Picture
This is NOT your avatar. This appears when someone goes onto your profile when they click your name. Oh, and you can either post the direct link or upload it for yourself.
Contacts & Friends
Pretty much your friends, but not really your contacts. Friends appear with a "+" next to the name when you're looking at who's looking at a thread. When accepting a friend, make sure you check the checkbox before you hit "Accept." Some people just hit accept without clicking for some reason :f6:.
Social Groups
You need to be of gold donator status if you want to create a social group. I don't really know what to do in one, as I never been in one on any forum. (hint hint...if I win first place, I'll create the Shawn Johnson user group...)

List (private) Messages
All of the private messages you received and sent. However, what are private messages? Basically, an e-mail. You could only have 50 PMs (short for private messages) in your inbox if you haven't donated. And no, don't think dirty when you see someone type PMS.
Send New Message
Send a private message. Has all of the forum smilies, fonts, etc.
Track Messages
No idea what this does. Most likely you won't either, and you will probably never use this.
Edit Folders
Add, name, and delete folders that stores your PMs. Most likely you'll never use this either.
List Subscriptions
You can subscribe to threads :f6:. To subscribe to a thread, on the thread, go to the upper-right hand corner, open the Thread Tools window, and hit the option.

Person. I never would of thought it would of gone this far since I kind of "started" it. That being said, I also have a bunch of information on Shawn Johnson and Southperry.
It began during the pre-Beijing Olympics. I posted a message in my Sleepywoodian signature saying
"Shawn Johnson is going to win six gold medals!" or something like that. I kept on changing the fact, but it always remained about Shawn.
Then I joined Southperry, and did the same thing. I even changed my avatar to a picture of Shawn.
Then, came the PMs. GMSInfighter was like "OH MY GOD I LUUUUUUUV SHAWN JOHNSON TOO!" He changed his avatar to Shawn. We still have a nice little argument of who like her better.
Pretty soon, more users pmed/visitor messaged me about liking Shawn. They changed their avatars to a picture of her. These are the true copiers since most don't know who Shawn Johnson was during the Olympics :f6:. They somewhat stalk her now, though. Bacon thought it would be funny to have a whorish picture of her as his avatar. :f3:. I soon ate him :excellent:.
Yeah, pretty soon, threads like this (http://www.southperry.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3583) popped off and before I knew it, Shawn Johnson became sort of a legend here on Southperry.
Oh, and I am one of the best Shawn Johnson fans since I introduced her here :glitter:. Jealous people will disagree. :excellent: GMSInfighter is tied with me, though :f7:.

How do you put an image here?
Go to imageshack.us or any other image-uploading website. Then, upload your image. Copy the "direct" url of the picture. Then, here, you insert it between these image tags. Try to put it into a spoiler so people with slower connections won't have to see a partially loaded image. It will also save space (on your post) and your post will look neater. Oh, and don't quote unspoiled images. Such a waste of space. If you have to quote something with a picture in it, remove the picture please.
