I just sketched something but I'm only partially proud of it. I NEED DRAWING ADVICE. D:

I basically drew a good friend of mine and his wife on their Bishops. I like the way Nick (the guy) turned out, but Kimmi (take a guess) just looks... blah. :< If anyone can provide any C&C as to how to improve it, that would be great. :3

By the way, I know the wings on the Genesis angel looks off, but I'll easily fix that.

My first impression is that Kimmi's eyes are too far apart, and that her ears are too high up on her head. Also, her shoulders are broader than Nick's shoulders; it should be the other way around. Females in general should have a more "delicate" look to them... I would probably make her arms a smidge thinner as well.

What I would suggest is to study the anatomy of the human body. Yes, I understand that you're not going for a "realistic" style, but trust me; knowing the proportions and mechanics of the human figure can do wonders to improve your drawing skills. There are literally tons of websites out there that could help you with that.

And TBH, I actually like the wings on the Genesis angel. I think they're really pretty. I also think the expression on Nick's face is great... he looks like the mischievous type and it gives him a bit more personality.

Really I think you only need to make a few minor adjustments. I don't think Kimmi turned out as bad as you think she did.

Hmm...

I'd say tweak the ears, move them down a bit...and maybe lower the eyebrows.

Her shoulders are also pretty broad with respect to the rest of the picture. I mean, they are fine compared to her head--but her body is really tiny. So beef her torso up a bit, maybe? Also, give her a little more wrist definition.

I like it a lot, I think you have some room for improvement but you're working in the right direction. I'd say yeah, human anatomy is fairly important (like Throws is saying), but I was never able to focus purely on learning real-life style (which is maybe why I still suck to this day...?) so I just drew what I thought was fun. Practice makes perfect, no matter what style you draw, and I found it funner to just practice what I liked. :D

Thanks so much, guys! I tried to fix it a bit and I'll say that it looks better but still not the best. XD But I'll definately take your advice in future drawings. :D In fact, I drew a few more after that and I think I've improved since. >_>

Anyway, here's what I finished with. Yes, I was too lazy to color. D':
