View Full Version : A question. About HP.
So, I want to save 21ish (I think) mil, even though it's not much. Instead of having my pirate be level 10, I'd rather do less training at the release and get him higher leveled.
Now, I wanna know, do beginners and pirates have different HP formulas? So if I level up more will I miss out on HP, and how much? Is there anything else leveling would affect and make me weaker/worse?
I want to level tons, like to 50, as a beginner so I can instantly become a 5x gunslinger. But I won't do it if I miss out on HP, MP, SP, etc.
Not that I know of (and I don't know a lot ) The hp and mp advancements from the job advancement aren't % based.

So, I can postpone the job advancement, if you we're right. But what about HP/MP from level ups?

Unless you have more than 10 INT (for any other class), then no.
But I'm no pirate expert.
I also heard crusaders get more hp per level up than other warriors, too....

Soooo not worth over-leveling..
Where's the fun? I can't wait to test the 1st job skills so I'm not over-leveling :3
The HP loss isn't much so you really have nothing to worry about.

Someone confirmed you to lose a fairly significant amount of HP and MP if you go past level 10, due to Beginners having such awful growth.

Okay, thanks for the info. I think I'll stay at 10 then and EQ to 30.

Last I checked (which was a really long time ago), level pass 10 and you'll miss out on SP. Like from level 10 to 11, if you have a job, you get 3 SP. If you don't have a job, you don't get any SP. So if you advance to a job as a beginner at level 11, you lose out on those 3 SP.
I don't know if they changed that but that's how it was. Also, even as a beginner, how much int you have effects how much MP you gain when you level up. So at level 7, you can leave the island and get int stuff to gain a few extra MP for HP washing... though I don't know who scrolls int things for level 7 and under equips. Even lukless magicians scroll level 10 and up

Nope, that was changed. You get your SP now.
The HP loss isn't that significant....as long as you don't get a beginner to 30 or something. If you get to 15 or so you're fine. I don't see the point though, since getting to 15 is childs play with any character including pirates. (Honestly, it didn't take more than 3 hours getting to 15, and i was dead broke. Couldn't afford bullets lol)
The importance of the HP loss depends on whether you're making a Gunslinger or an Infighter. Obviously, if you're going Gunslinger, you'll want that extra HP.

Pirates get 20-24 (same as archers/thieves). So you'll be missing out on 20*8 HP per level = 160 HP if you wait to level 30 to advance to first job. It's your judgment whether it's worth it.
HP gain on job advancement is static and based on the subclass you choose. Fighters get more HP than other warriors on 2nd job advancement, but the same HP growth.

If you plan on gunslinger, and if the slinger has the same hp/mp growth rate as rangers/sins, then I highly advise you not to over level. that 50 or 100+ Hp that you miss out on WILL affect you later. It can mean the difference between life and death. I take as much HP as i can get as a ranger. Survival is key.
But if infighter, I don't think you need to worry too much, but you will have drastically lower HP than other infighters...
Decided not to overlevel. Thanks guys.

Although the discussion is over, I'd like to point out that the hp is a severe bonus for EITHER 2nd job. If you're an infighter, you're going to be up on the monsters all of the time. Taking a lot of damage constantly. You'll miss out on maybe 160(so you say)? And for gunslingers, you'll still want that hp for high-damaging monsters. It's almost crucial for both jobs.

Even though this is borderline necroposting, I feel I have new(ish) relevant information.
I know for a fact that if you job advance to first job above level 30, you will not gain the SP back for first job. I did this back in Tespia when I was testing for job advance amounts. You will still get the HP/MP bonuses from the advance, but you will not get the skills, making going above level 29 worthless. I'm not sure about level 30 itself, but why bother?
Anyway, it has come to my attention that pirates do not gain the same amount of HP/MP on level up as bowmen/thieves. They gain more, which totals some odd 200ish HP and 80ish MP over 20 levels (10-30) versus a Beginner. I feel this is significant enough to advise against it for washing purposes. You'll already be many points short on HP and it will be far, far more difficult to wash being so far behind in MP.
In short: Leveling past 29/30 is a definite no-no. If you level up to 29 as a Beginner, just realize that you're trading maybe a day worth of leveling (less if you use 2x) for a rather sizable chunk of HP and the inability to wash easily.

I dont know why but I always find your posts full of flaws and nonsense....sorry
If you have been playing Maple for even a month, you should know Beginner's have WAAAAAYYYYYYYYY less HP and MP then any other characters in the game. Secondly, while Gunslingers have more HP than Archers / Sins, they still dont have that much. Robbing them of 40 levels of HP would make him untrainable.
Glad to hear you changed your plan

Thank you for this. I have an unused level 32 perma that I was thinking of advancing to pirate once they came out. I will leave her be.
And my lvl 10 and 95% beginner gunslinger will stay a beginner until we get pirates, then will level with all the exchange items I've been stuffing my mules' inventories with. :f2:
