View Full Version : Why are you making a pirate?

I have a number of reasons:
1. They're a new class you've gotta try it.
2. I've always liked playing my CB so I'll probably like the many skill combos.
3. I'm not a huge fan of the single dimension classes such as NL and Bishops. (No offense but L7 or heal/genesis for 200 levels isn't my idea of a fun game)
4. I've amassed some OK gear on my MM the last 2 years. I'd like to see what it's like to level a semi-funded player for a change.
Some things that do concern me:
1. Every multi-billionaire on my server is going to start one and gear/scrolls are going to be too expensive.
2. Videos of high level pirates on KMS may not translate to the experience early on in my pirate's career.

Uhm..
I'm starting to think i don't want to play one actually..
Stick with my spearman all the way so spear/polearms deflate and knuckles go up :D

I wanna make one cus it suits me just right, they lvl fast and i'm lazy when it comes to lvling...I don't mind sky-high dmg...its fun,Looks cool..eugm..its the perfect class for me? O_o
Gunslingers are a fun, new class, with lots of skills and still good dpm in the fourth job, and okay DPM first through third.

How exactly, do you know it's fun when you haven't played it yet?
I've had numerous people tell me that 'it's fun' when they have no basis for their statements.
And no, I'm not making a pirate.

I watched videos and a certain person let me on their account on a *private server* and gunslingers were hella fun. Now I just need to wait. ;_;

I have always wanted to play a combo class, i even have a level 40 bandit that i was going to make into a CB because before the word of pirates got around, CB's were "THE" combo class, but ever since i heard of pirates i was aware that they are the ultimate combo class

I'll make one on a PS once I'm bored enough to do so. Simply because it's the only class I haven't played yet ._.
I pretty much quit Maple after starting college. All I do is talk to friends, screw around on my BM, and level mules now. I'm tired of making mules of the same couple of classes (I've done Fighter, Spearman, Cleric, F/P, Bandit, Crossbow, and Assassin now), so it'll be something new to do.
There's also that "Gunslingers are weak" thing I have to disprove.

i dont think they'll level very fast. gunslingers are probably gonna be something like a bowman in 2nd job since they dont have haste, and cant attack up close (lol guns cant shooting up close). infighters are probably gonna level no faster than warriors. bandits might even level faster since they have haste and are strong in 2nd job.
in 3rd job is the same deal; magicians still level best with mist and ice strike. 70-80 is slow because you have no new skills. 80-100 is slow because you have no real training spots (too strong for weak monsters but too weak for strong monsters). 100-120 is slow unless you leech at newties. in 4th job, im sure the magician will still be fastest levelers.

I'm going to make an infighter just for the heck of it. I'd rather play it on a private server, since I don't really feel like training a THIRD 4th job char.

i have 2 reasons to make a pirate
1 im borred of my bishop
2 lvling at my bishop has no worth cus i wont get beter dmg at bosses or be more wanted at bosses
so now im making money and waiting

Its true.. i played a PS too also for a Bit and it was horrific. Gunslingers and Infighters [i heard, didnt really wanna play as one] were just so bugged i couldnt stand it.
Like Rapid Fire didnt work, i could only hit 1 Monster with Arial Strike and every other attack just hit 1 monster as well.
Im still waiting for the time Pirates reach Global.. at least then it wont be so bad i hope. :f1:
Its better to play real MS in my opinion.
The reason Pirates are bugged in PS is because only half of the data involving Pirates exists in GMS v.60. If they released Pirates in the real game, they would be just as buggy right now.

I take martial arts in real life, so why not have an in game martial artist like the infighter to do the same?

Yeah i know the PS only had broken strands from the Data, it was bad enough that when i tried opening the Abillity Point Window its Dc me automatically =/
Im just trying to say that at least Global isnt "that" bad yet and hopefully when we do get Pirates we wont flop all like that just to hit a single monster.

I will play a pirate to get on the new hype. Also I'm a little annoyed with having LOW hp on my ranger at the moment, considering most things i WILL be training on either 1-2 hit kill me...
I'll make a gunslinger too as they appeal to my range-ness. Always liked ranged fighting...

I'm making one I guess out of boredom. Leveling during 16x takes a bit too long and I just want to try something new. I would make a Gunslinger because I think they're a really cool and good class, but I think I'm going to make an Infighter just because Gunslingers are far too similar to Archers. Shame too, Gunslingers are pretty awesome.

I've wanted to use fists since my days playing SWG (Star Wars Galaxies) and being a Teras Kasi Artist. (star wars martial artist) It was just different from every MMO and now I can have that in maple :shine:

It will be a nice change of pace. I've already tried every first job, three 2nd jobs so far (soon to be four), and all of them got boring before I made it to level 70.
Although I might delay my pirate a few days so there isn't a huge rush that I'll get stuck in. I'm too excited to wait long enough that I'll wait until all of the items are deflated though...
Then again, by that point my bandit should be level 5x-6x... maybe I can a bunch of free lmpqs?

No one KPQs anymore. (I know 'cause of the 2x nub) If Ariant Colosseum fills the gap, good, otherwise there isn't much to be had down here.
I already made a Ranger-to-be, so no way.

I have a few reason:
I like close range classes
I like the idea of combo attacks
It's new so I gotta try it
(and the big one for me) It gives me something to do, I have gotten bored with most of the things maple has to offer so a new classes has gotten give me some reason to get back to it.

But Ariant Colosseum drains money. A lot of money.
And I think I'll make a pirate for fun. And then quit it.
Because you get to shoot monsters with a gun.

Because I pineappleed up my first Ranger, which I sold to my friend who's gonna leech train it, and I don't have the motivation to get to 70 again on a job I've already gotten there on. That and Gunslingers are similar to Rangers...and guns are cool. So are Pirates. Only one things missing: the Rum.

Still really debating this whole thing. My cousin and i are funding the same infighter, so that's a no brainer. I guess when the bullets become too common that they're sold for eas money, i'll start one up =)

Unless they completely change the drop tables for bullets, it will probably take like a month for them to get cheap, haha.

I've been playing over 2 years now. I've pretty much always been an archer. I have several 3x characters of other classes (cleric, bandit, permabeginner), but never seem to get into them very much, and always go back to my bowmaster.
I'm starting a gunslinger for something new and different. Several of my old friends are starting pirates too, so we'll run around being noobs again.
I doubt I'll get it past 70, but we'll see how I like it.

Yeah I feel the same way. That's why I always comment on sw that "infighters are way godly strong and beat dexless sins on dps." But really I have no facts to support that statement. XD

I totally understand. I made a few other chars but I really only liked saders and cbs. I've tried clerics, f/p, page, and spearmen.
Also yeah a lot of my friends pretty much quit maple but they're all coming back for pirates. YAY

I'm making a pirate because of the whole super combo class thing, think about it, a class that actually involves strategy istead of spamming attacks. The only problem is I don't know if I want Brawler or Gunslinger more... so... I made two noobs for pirates so I can test out both classes and see which one I like best.

because i hate low HP, and would love to go around screaming "Falcon PUUUUNNNCH" while training. Also, even though i have a 12x NL, which i could have level to 14-15x, given the time ive spent preparing for pirates, and the time ill be leveling my pirate, i would really like bossing, and without having to HP wash like a hundred dollars away. Besides, i do believe HP washing is ridiculous, and that nexon shouldnt more or less impose on NL, BM, MM, and quite possibly GS community to spend god knows how much money so they can HT.
But thats a rant for another day
Also the combos look really interesting, so i get to try using a combo heavy class relatively early, as the only other class like that is shadowers, and until 4th job, they arent really combo heavy. Maybe 2 attacks, but thats it, i wanna see how fun it is doing various attacks, to see if it will bring my interest in this game back.

OMG same reason. I have access to almost no NX (except for friend referral =P) but even that isn't enough to cover a decent HP wash. ranged classes will likely only be able to horntail at around 17x-18x, but people don't have time for that... Which is why i went blood master build for my bowmaster (damage isn't my thing, fun is).
So when i eventually get an infighter, i can fund it with my possible zak runs that i can do on my Bowmaster (assuming i pass SE 20 and 30 >.> nexon needs to make the drop rate of this skill more decent... 150 mil is ridiculus *sorry ht only skill people*)
With infighter, i can be more lax about not dieing so quickly. It makes it a lot better for me. I'll eventually make one of each tho xD

Actually if you do friend referral 15 times, since the limit of 5 per account is only every month, and event lasts till 5th of november, then you get 78k nx. Which, if used only for washing, isnt terrible, so thats what im doing. It buys 25 washes, after all, so thats like *roughly* more then cutting out 25 levels of leveling, if you have the MP. So you figure its like 15x or so? Plus HP gear cuts it down more(and as a bowmen you at least got +HP overall, helmet, and shoes from bosshunter gear, and blood bowman isnt as bad as blood NL, its cuts out more of our damage) So you figure if you did that, you get what? 14x HTing? Maybe?
