Quick poll to see if anyone's noticing performance changes since the tweaking this morning.

Only count the actual rendering of the page, not the time it takes to load images from other websites.

If you're sure it's about the same (or worse), please report the browser you're using too.

I have noticed that page load times seem slower but I assumed it was just me.

Would browser type account for any changes?
Im using Chrome Beta and ive tried SP on Chrome Canary.

Browsers may handle it differently, yes, depending on whether or not they support compression.

Not sure how you view mobile browser speeds, but I've noticed a drastic increase of rendering speed.

Feels faster, for me.

Don't feel a difference. Pingdom Tools (http://tools.pingdom.com/?url=southperry.net) reports that there are three images which don't resolve on the main page and that the Facebook prefix is obscenely large at 48KB.

EDIT: I'm using Chrome, but I bet you already knew that.

Unfortunately none of that is relevant to what just got done. Only the raw HTML would be rendering faster and anyones guess whether they're using a method that supports it in their parsing. I did pngcrush the oversized images though :p

No difference, as Fiel said. I'm using Chrome, so that may be it.

Chrome is just that fast.

Not much different for me.

Opera is just that awesome and fast.

Firefox 3.1.62, just seems to be loading pages slower.

SP always loads at top speed for me. Can't really tell if it's any faster.

Examples of pages to test:

Main forum page, any forum thread listing page

Examples of pages NOT to try comparing:

Any thread that will be full of people's signatures and random pictures :f3:

It's a bit faster, but not by much. Using Opera... whatever the latest version is. 10.something.

Let me guess, you're trying mod_pagespeed? If so, I'd be interested to know if there's an improvement.

I think SP might be loading faster, but I'm really not sure. I'm pretty sure it's not slower. I'm using Firefox.

Nope. That was phase 2 but it rejected the version of apache. It decided 2.215 isn't 2.2 enough whatever that means. :f6:
This is just mod_deflate having been turned on. It was enabled but never activated for some reason.

It doesn't seem to be too noticeable for most since the pages aren't that big unless you set your thread count or your post display to the higher ends.

I don't really notice a difference on my computer, but it seemed to load much faster on my phone.

Actually this. SP loads a bit faster on Opera Mini 4 here.

It does seem faster than a few days ago, but it still is kinda sluggish.

Chrome.

About the same in Firefox.

My internet connection is kinda spotty but I was getting a lot of half-loaded pages before, and they seem much faster now.

That's one thing that shouldn't be possible now as long as on a modern browser since it's all compressed and uncompressed before rendering, you shouldn't be able to get a partial page.

I've gotten a 404 page a couple of times when skipping pages with the arrow in threads. Though it's only happened twice and hasn't really bothered me just throwin it out there.

Slower, idk if it because im loading Big bang pages (http://www.southperry.net/forumdisplay.php?f=9043) or not, the other pages is still same as before (or slower than before abit)

Using Opera 9.63

Unless you know exactly what you're doing you wouldn't be able to tell based on browsing pages full of pictures hosted on other websites.

Page acces time is the same (Europe <-> USA usual 0.2 sec lag) but the pages themselves are rendered faster somehow. :)
