View Full Version : New Way you too can Support Southperry!
Not everyone can afford to waste money on donations, but nearly everyone shops online at some point.
Now you can show your appreciation & support for Southperry, at no extra cost to you, simply by including a referral/associate ID tag for Southperry in your Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/?tag=southperrynet-20) purchases. You get the same shiny price you've come to know and love from Amazon, Amazon gets their money & attention and Southperry gets a tiny slice of what you were going to be giving to Amazon anyway.
This form of support is completely anonymous, available to members and lurkers alike, and relatively painless so for those of you who've lamented not being able to give back and show your support before, here's a quick and simple way. You can even ask family and friends to use the link to do their shopping - It's a completely transparent tracker that won't change anything about how they use or experience the Amazon site, just means SP will get a bit of a kickback at the end.
To participate you can use the support link at the top of the page to do your shopping (in a separate window), bookmark the appropriate click through link for your version of Amazon from the list below or replace your browser's Amazon search with our tagged version.
Browser Search Links

Important Note
You must use one of the tagged links as the means by which you put the items in your cart, you can not put stuff in the cart then come to Southperry to do the check-out; the whole process has to have started here to get credited.
Additionally various terms throughout the forum may become Amazon hyperlinks to provide contextually relevant sales opportunities. Note that when following a Southperry link to amazon anything you purchase will credit us, you don't have to purchase a specific item or the item that you originally enter the site by.
Thanks for your support!
Now to convince my dad to use this...
heh. I just reconfigured all the bookmarks and search links in various people's homes with their permission.
Wow... I just ordered something from Amazon >.<
By the way, is Amazon.ca even eligible for this? I only see Amazon.com up there.

No (https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/associates/help/t22/a13?ie=UTF8&pf_rd_t=501&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=&pf_rd_s=assoc-center-2&pf_rd_r=&pf_rd_i=assoc_help_t22)
Gets messy quick trying to support every region since they all have different IDs and addresses. I may go so far as to support the .ca and .co.uk as well but that's probably it.

I just bought stuff yesterday too, used a giftcard though so i dunno if it would have worked. I'll keep this in mind if i get anything else from amazon.
Supposedly method of payment doesn't matter, so even gift card purchases will count.
Ok I've added support for co.uk and .ca as well and added the link to our quick-buttons.
Where it sends you will depend on your country being indicated in the user profile, with usa & default being amazon.com, uk being Amazon.co.uk and canada being Amazon.ca
And made a pair of tags;
XBOX 360
Playstation 3
XBOX 360
Playstation 3
The crappy thing about the latter format is the ASIN is region specific, so links created for .com will not work for .co.uk or .ca, they'll return product not found messages in most cases, but allow for the searching of the intended item from there while still giving credit for any purchases.

Do users get donator status from this?
Let's use that deductive reasoning you expect the rest of the world to bless you with in answering your every whimsical question.
This form of support is completely anonymous, available to members and lurkers alike.
So. Using those two bits of information, how exactly would that work?
At some later point, depending on the information actually presented by the system when it credits us referrals, I might make a form where you can try to claim donor credits by entering in your order confirmation number or w/e, but that's further down the road, depends entirely on variables I don't have at this time, requires extra effort for everyone involved and would probably only credit at the end of cycle.

The links turn to "http://www.amazon.com/ref=nb_sb_noss_null/" followed by a bunch of numbers. I don't think this is how it's supposed to work...

Great, now I have to disable cookies from Google, which means I can't uncensor my search results. Time to switch to Yahoo :f7: Would opt-out be possible?
The google tracking cookie has been on here for well over a year. You're already infected, or so it seems.
For the content-aware links, can donors have it disabled? noadskthxbye
For the content-aware links, can donors have it disabled? noadskthxbye
Maybe. They'd actually be contextual links, not content aware links, so if you mentioned an XBOX for example the word XBOX may hyperlink automatically. No where near as intrusive as the real ads.
Still in R&D though so we'll see if it becomes a reality or not.

Note the DVD hasn't shipped yet so isn't actually crediting in the 2nd table (and might be from someone else's order). I'll be interested in what rate it credits at because the 10% on the music is 4% more than I was told the max was and if the DVD gets 10% too it'll double the shiny $1.43 MTD. :f2:
Note also the complete lack of order number or other identifying detail to be able to give credit for participating or know who got what.

What? I've seen the house you got so I know it isn't huge, so why in the world is it costing that much? Even if you have to rip everything to do with the air out and put all new stuff in I have never heard of it costing 12k.
I am in fact ripping everything out, including rebuilding the platform in the attic and access to it, and all new piping due to the change in freon types, and my choices were pay 6k up front or finance 12k over 10 years.
And I question how you've arrived at the "not huge" conclusion considering my bedroom alone is the size of two or three efficiencies, not to mention the house can hold eight, easily.
Anywho, I just got confirmation that they'll be calling me in the morning to schedule my repairs at last. Wee!

It's pretty simple. You just click the Amazon link on SP (either the tab, or your appropriate version in the Click Thru Links) and make your purchases from there instead of going directly to Amazon, then SP gets the referral credit.
Katie
2011-08-16, 01:01 PM
Is your credit based on how much is purchased or by the number of purchases?
Is your credit based on how much is purchased or by the number of purchases?
It's a sliding scale where the more that gets shipped the more each purchase becomes worth.
Total Items Shipped|Referral Rates
1-6|4.00%
7-30|6.00%
31 - 110|6.50%
111 - 320|7.00%
321 - 630|7.50%
631 - 1570|8.00%
1571 - 3130|8.25%
3131 +|8.50%
Note that's items, not checkouts, so 10 items one at a time count the same as 10 items purchased at once.

Items period. Doesn't matter how many people the items that ship are representative of.
1 person with 100,000 items is the same as 100,000 people with 1 item each.

Quick, yet important question: I'm currently making a cart with all of my novels for English classes and a couple other things I want (read: LOTSAITEMS) in a general Amazon tab. Can I close out of said tab, click back to Amazon through the redirect link at the top of Southperry, then go immediately to my basket and purchase everything with the donations still working?
I think so.
I should still tag the referrer since you pass through it before going to checkout.

I deal with housing and housing related stuff, due to the normal size of houses I deal with yours isn't even close to "huge". It might just be your area, but in the areas I work in ripping everything out costs around 6 - 10k (8k financing) so that is why I was kind of surprised by the 12k price tag.

At the very least it'll be nice to know what "works".
Lemme know when they ship and I'll verify.
I did that (put stuff in cart, realize I forgot to use the SP link, click to Amazon via SP, complete purchase) about a month ago with that anime sale. If you see Code Geass, Fumoffu, Gunslinger Girl, School Rumble, and Ghost in the Shell, it works.
Disappointing if true, none of those seem to be present year to date.

SP Credit|Process
YES | chose item after clicking the link; complete order
NO | choose item, click link, complete order
??? | click link, choose item, leave site, add more items w/o link, click link, complete order
The latter step will only credit for the newly added items as far as I can tell.
Also it appears you may have to complete the entire process within 10 minutes. As in if you step away for more than 10 minutes or sit on a single page more than 10 minutes the session aborts. Used to be 24 hours.

It's rather picky.
If you add in &tag=southperrynet-20
It may work, but it strongly depends on where you are in the process when you do it and if it doesn't detect us as a referrer it might ignore it.
