My Dell Vostro 1000 keyboard lags. Nothing else, just the keyboard. Whenever I press a key, it doesnt come up til like 1-2 seconds later. Dell told me to go to control panel, but I've tried messing with everything there many times and still no fix.

Anyone got any tips ?

It's everywhere..

But I have noticed something VERY VERY weird.

My computer or internet seems to work PERFECTLY when I'm at my friend's house. He has a d-link router too, but mine is 3 years old. And I don't think it's my internet because my internet on my desktop is good. Could the router be the problem?

Go to run and type in msconfig. Uncheck PCMService from startup and reboot.

I don't have this program in my msconfig.

Could it be my router or something cause when I go to a friend's house to test it out. It runs perfectly, but when I'm at home with my 3 year old router it has the keyboard lag.

what's the router's model number and make? also goto www.speedtest.net and do a measurement.

Router Model: DI-524

The speed is 2500kb/s on laptop and 2300kb/s on desktop. My desktop is older which is prolly why it's a bit slower

http://support.dlink.com/downloads/# update the firmware and we'll see. I have the same router and no problems here.

Just to clarify, you're saying that press a button in maplestory to talk and the letter shows up a bit after you type it? OR is it that you type something without problems, but your dialogue box shows up after a few seconds?

No it's just the computer in general. Typing lags in FF, MSN, MS, Wordpad etc.

But it's just a temporary thing that happens for like 2 minutes. Stops and comes back 2 minutes later.

And when I press backspace once, it goes crazy and activates like 20 times.

Do you have a Wireless Keyboard by any chance?

Edit: Whoops, I'm stupid. You're using a Laptop.

Is this a recent problem?
When was the last time you changed your battery?
How old is this laptop?
