Speculated for release in mid-november 2008. Who else is excited?
For those of you who don't know what it is, Left 4 Dead is a zombie-type survival game that runs on Source engine. It's MMO, so that means you can team up with people online to run through the story. You can also do basic deathmatches, team deathmatches, etc. you can play as a human or a zombie in DM and TDM modes; humans can use guns, zombies can't, but they have special powers like being able to reel people in for a beating, super awesome grabs where you pin them down and eat their brains, etc. Trailer (well more like a developer's walkthrough): http://www.gametrailers.com/player/36843.html?type=flv (Note that there's no recoil in the video, but it will be implemented, that's an early-ish video)
A few notes if you didn't watch:
-The AI isn't dumb! Woo!
-If an ally goes down, you have this amount of time to heal him back to life as long as you have health packs, and vice versa. If you go down, you're immobile but still able to aim (With a limited field of vision) and shoot for a short time before you go down for good.
-Zombies can pin you to the ground and pry all your sh'it out of your body. When they do that, you need one of your partners to shoot them off you and vice versa if they're pinned down.
-Dead partners may be brought back to life in safe rooms.
-There are, I believe, only four players max in a co-op game.
-There are different types of zombies: normal Infected, which are, quite simply, normal Infected, Boomers that spew blood on you and vomit on you (Which attracts more Infected), Tanks that are...well, really big and hulky that take a whole lot of damage, Smokers that use their huge tongues to pull you towards them, Crawlers (I think that's their name) that are superhumanly fast and can scale walls and jump roofs, and Witches, that are normally invisible and aren't aggressive, but if you happen to stumble upon one, shine your flashlight on one, or shoot one, you're dead. All these Zombies but normal Infected and Witches are playable in DM, TDM, CTF, etc.
Really looking forward to it. :f3:
