View Full Version : Time to move on
It comes to a point where you begin to realize:
"What am I still doing here?"
"Am I gaining anything by doing this?"
"Shouldn't I be thinking more about my future?"
A site like this takes a lot of time and a lot of passion. My passion has most certainly not run out - I still love working with the site and doing extractions. However, the time it takes to do quality extractions and provide great information is daunting. Furthermore, I feel a growing disconnect with newer players of Maplestory. They stay the same age while I just get older and older. I'm 23 now, and I don't see myself staying here much longer.
So, I am leaving SP members with a choice. Find someone who is willing to run the site AND can perform extractions. The alternate option is that I shut down the website on June 15 for good. This date is non-negotiable.
A person who I select to run the site will have access to:
- All of my scripts and binaries
- FTP/MySQL/Root access to the server (paid up through the 17th - costs $35/mo - host is through VPSLink)
- Access to the server host control panel
- Access to the site I use for image hosting (happychinchilla.info - paid up through January 2011)
- Full admin access on Southperry
- Pre-made fully customized server
- Ability to collect donations and ad revenue (site is self-sustaining)
- vBulletin license (publisher's version)
- Access to the DNS (NameCheap - yearly dues are next month)
- I will stay for two weeks to help with the transition and ease you into using my scripts if you'd like
The person I'm looking for has the following qualities:
- Familiarity with WZ files a necessity
- Previous forum admin experience a plus
- Never been banned from SP in any way
- Have a passion for data extraction
- Familiarity with Python a plus
If you're interested in buying Southperry, please PM me with your bid and any relevant experience you have. If you would like, you can contact me on MSN at --------- or on AIM at --------.
Between now and June 15, it will be business as usual around here. There will still be moderation. I will still be posting extractions, and I will stay with the site until the end.
Thank you, Southperry, for the good times. All good things must come to an end. And yes, I did shed a tear writing this.
Stay Chinchillin',
Fiel

Not greedy at all. As much as you are getting the right to be an SP owner, you are also getting a pre-built, optimized server, a vBulletin license (the one used on this site retails for $200+), a shared webhosting service paid up through January (~$35), as well as an already established site in the community, all of my scripts, etc. etc. etc.

Its not the same to be in a forum with lots of people than having their E-mails. So unless we ALL posted our emails and started group conversations It will never be the same...
But lets look at the bright side: there is still hope that a hero will rise and take SP.

Aye, well hopefully you'll choose someone who is also fair minded and not just someone who can do all the things you can do. As much as I've enjoyed Southperry I rather see it die a nice quiet death than to see it handed over to a person who will let the power go to their head so to speak.

highly optimistic. if no one stands up and can take over SP by 6/15, then the site is gone, as well as the posting therein.

yes, there is still hope, but, hope works both ways: either things work out and everyone is happy, or things dont and everyone is sad.
If the site goes down, which honestly i see as the eventuality, the option of finding a new forum is really the only viable one. 'course that'd mean some people would never be seen again for each individual, which in itself is both good and bad, but SP really is like one big family, quirks and all.
i find it odd this thread is made within the same 24 hours as your latest blog Fiel, just ironic. but eh, life moves on.

Sorry I could have sworn it was a sarcastic statement. Maybe it's personal bias. I mean, it's been fairly obvious that activity has dramatically slowed down. In the beginning it's questionable whether or not the comments within Southperry were worth the #35/month. But the fact that you have a steady stream of users would hopefully alleviate that cost via advertisements. The fact that is hardly new activity indicates a large question of whether or not paying this monthly cost is worth it. I certainly would not pay $35 to have membership to this forum board. I would just go to other forum boards or write in my livejournal. To be brutally honest, Southperry is not worth the investment. There are cheaper alternatives to social networking that you could easily rely on and with a healthy influx of users. Southperry is in the face of stagnancy and Fiel has decided to close it down. I would personally assess him keeping up the site as an act of philanthropy if he's really paying off a deficit and not making a personal profit in the entire matter.
Lesson learned, Seraphim.
It takes a very special person to run this site. To expect an exact clone of me would be asking a bit much.

Well, I wasn't only talking about who everyone thinks I am talking about, but also two other staff members you trusted with a high amount of power. But that is not important in anyway.
Hopefully we'll find a fair leader, and if not, it's been fun, right?

You're looking too far into it Swerve. Paul always said he didn't do this for profit, and that he enjoyed doing this despite the money it takes, etc. etc. etc. I guess that the burden was too heavy for Paul to carry after Isaac left. Even if Eos took over the moderation and etc.
I also recall him saying that his extractor and the site would look good on a resume.

That's good to hear Paul. I feel better knowing that your maintenance and contributions bear some small award. Even though I understand how it can still be a deficit if those abilities could be applied elsewhere.

I was thinking that profit could have been an additional reason to why he wanted to stop running SP. If SP made him six figures then there really is no reason to stop running the site. But if SP was draining him of any funds then that would be a personal sacrifice and he should determine what he wants to do when he reaches that point. Again he always has the right to decide when to call it quits. That's not being selfish, that's his right. I was simply expressing my own opinion in retaliation to the other people feeling that Fiel was being "greedy." I did not share a similar sentiment and I was simply expressing my side from a different angle.
I've been privy to the same exact questions such as Fiel. "What am I still doing here?" "Am I gaining anything by doing this?" "Shouldn't I be thinking more about my future?" I've been thinking about this question for months. I was simply at a point where there was nothing unique I was reading from this board. At the same time, the things I wrote were not being fully understood. I won't disclose the answer that I found. But it doesn't require me from stopping what I've been doing all along. For Fiel, he may have found a different answer.

This is always the site I'd go to first when I went on the interwebs!

I expected this to happen eventually, but in a different way. I felt it would be more gradual. Like the 'first generation' of SP would slowly move away.
I'm also doubtful you can find someone to fill your shoes, unless your going to take in an apprentice or something. Lets just not go the way of SW.
When the time comes, it comes I guess.
However, If the date comes, I feel some are not just going to let us die like that, and may possibly make another forum (not extraction related)

I know I mess around on this site a lot, and gotten in trouble multiple times. There have been times I do things just to cause trouble or people to get mad at me because I enjoy it, and I get rather amused. You've also given me a 2nd chance, and I accepted it as well as apologized. However, I am saddened by the fact that you feel like you must move on. I will miss you as a forum administrator, really, Fiel. In a way, you've helped me a lot when it comes to advice on programming. I don't think I'll get that sort of advices as such from others. You and Isaac were the reason people stayed. Sometimes, it is best to step down and let someone else take the throne, but just because you maintain a site as this does not necessarily mean it's your burden alone. Yes, you're 23. I'm 21. Two years apart, and though our major is rather competitive, and though you and I both need to study a lot, this doesn't mean you should feel like quitting and handing this over to someone else.
This is just my opinion, of course. I hope you reconsider.

Southperry Forums
We do what we must
because we can.
For the good of all of us.
Except the ones who were banned
But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done.
And you make a neat gun.
For the people who are still alive.
I'm not even angry.
I'm being so sincere right now.
Even though you broke my heart.
And killed me.
And tore me to pieces.
And threw every piece into a fire.
As they burned it hurt because I was so happy for you!
Now these points of data make a beautiful line.
And we're out of beta.
We're releasing on time.
So I'm GLaD. I got burned.
Think of all the things we learned
for the people who are still alive.
Go ahead and leave me.
I think I prefer to stay inside.
Maybe you'll find someone else to help you.
Maybe Chinchillas
THAT WAS A JOKE.
HAHA. FAT CHANCE.
Anyway, this cake is great.
It's so delicious and moist.
Look at me still talking
when there's Science to do.
When I look out there, it makes me GLaD I'm not you.
I've experiments to run.
There are extractions to be done.
On the people who are still alive.
And believe me I am still alive.
I'm doing Science and I'm still alive.
I feel FANTASTIC and I'm still alive.
While you're dying I'll be still alive.
And when you're dead I will be still alive.
STILL ALIVE

Websites are businesses. They're successful because you provide some service people want or need. SP promised extraction which lured in people since it was something uncommon. A social board on its own isn't going to draw in traffic though.

What could we provide? Porn? Anime lists?

You know, since most of the frequent posters don't care about MS, this could be made into a social chat board. Or any subject orientated-board: programming, homework, music, movies, vidya, otaku, animu.
Or a combination of all of the above.
There's also the possibility of merging with SuperSwordAction. SSA doesn't look like it has much traffic and Fiel, you said you said you still like working with sites and extractions.

But then we won't be a community anymore. Then we won't be able to communicate with everyone the same way. Then we won't have a warm, entertaining place to go to inbetween masturbation times for the only socializing one can get on the internet.

Someone said a social forum doesn't work out.
Well, not if we make a forum geared at a general topic. Many of SP most notable and regular members hardly MS anymore, so a forum based off Maplestory isn't a requirement. Perhaps /there could be one geared more Anime, Pokemon, Video gaming, Hentai, lolis, Etc Etc,. Even then, we'd have to still find someone to manage such a horrible great horrible place.
Of course, this is just an extreme back-up plan. As sad as this is, I probably wouldn't get very worried until June 10th (that is if no-one has vouched to take over).
Let's face it, SP is relatively small, and as a result we've all become a huge dysfunctional family. Still a family though. I'd find it pretty tough to pretty much never see each other again (going back to SW is really not something I want to do).

I must say I'm very surprised to see Southperry go before it is even 2 years old. Though I guess that things change, so it's something best accepted. To be honest, I don't think it would work so great with a new admin, and I'll probably be leaving Southperry regardless of whether or not a new admin is appointed.
I'll be over at SSA though (Thanks again Greg for making that site :)) and in #superswordaction at irc.freenode.net. I guess that now that I've started playing DFO, I spend more time there now than I do at Southperry.

Wah... wow. Didn't expect this at all.
Even if someone else steps up, I'm gonna miss you Fiel. Other than being a generally awesome guy, you taught me that drunk people are hilarious.
And... as far as the forum itself... If it goes, I'm gonna miss you guys. Even though I haven't been here as long as a good portion of you, and I haven't talked directly to most of you... I have to say that I'm really going to be sad if I can't find a way to talk to most of you ever again. If the worst case scenario does happen (and hopefully it won't), let's make sure we can all keep in touch, ok?
EDIT: @Milelke- you'd be surprised. One of the forums I've been on for years and years is VMKMagic (http://www.vmkmagic.com/vbulletin/forums.php). VMK closed in 2008- it's been over 2 years this week. The forum is still going strong... Though I don't advise heading down the path they did- there's a lot of people there that only RP and post graphics, both of rather low quality.

-New to me-
A sad day indeed. It's expected to occur, but it is hard to believe that a day like this is here. Feels like the site was just born yesterday, and now it's Fiel's goodbye, and maybe even this website.
Fiel, I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors, and I do hope the site receives a new owner. Had I knowledge of WZ formatting, I'd consider, but I'm not knowledgeable in the WZ file structure.
Southperry has been the first in my quick tabs for a long time. I hope I don't have to find a new website to fill that spot.

I guess for me I'm just trying to understand "Why now?" I understand at some point everyone needs to move on, but it was just days ago when you were reassuring us users that while things seemed to be slow around here there was nothing to really worry about. I can't help but feel like this is a rushed decision. One you haven't completely thought through. But hey, that's just how I see it. I don't know much about you other than what you portray to us in your posts and IRC. Maybe you've been debating this for days, weeks, maybe even months. Is this site, the people, something you're genuinely willing to put aside so suddenly? And not to guilt you, but while you're making this decision for yourself, you're also forcing the decision on the rest of us without a viable option other than hoping someone meets your qualifications and buys the site...
I know money isn't a problem, but if I were to donate enough money to cover the cost of keeping the site up for the rest of the year in order for you to properly find someone to replace you, would you consider it? Because I'm not ready to see this site go yet >___<

Wow. This is saddening. This is really the only MapleStory forum I've really liked (and doubly so since the main page doesn't have the word 'forum' in the URL, meaning this is the ONLY major MS forum that doesn't get blocked by my family's firewall), and cared enough for the community to even venture into the non-MS sections once in a while. Hell, I think this is the only GMS forum that has placed additional major emphasis on what's happening in other versions other than KMS. As such, I've found that the community here feels more globalized compared to the others.
But, if you really need to do this, then go on ahead. It would be unreasonable for us to force you to stay, and if a good candidate to take over the site is found, then just rest easy. This community doesn't seem like the type that would destroy itself easily.

This is sad, SP is like a home to me in this world called the internet. It's welcoming, informative/helpful, it has the awesome Funhaus okay not really.
I certainly would not mind switching this board into some other form, say, a free forum board where we archive most/all that we've written over the years for reference purposes and discuss newly added features for those who still play MS. Certainly it's going to die over time, but hey, at least it's not 2 weeks' time.
As for whether or not extractions are going to be continued, I don't really care. This community is already special enough without the extractions.

ive got to ask you this then: what would SP offer that other MS-based forums dont already? SW has its guild/boss organizations iirc, and basil is the equivalent of MS eBay. without the extractions, it'd just be another MS fansite. nothing to draw in more traffic.
Personally, i wouldn't think this a bad idea, but it kinda ...not invalidates...nullifies? it makes the main draw of SP be not as important. (not able to draw the right word ATM)

I have come up with a easy way to extract patches. It is by far not nearly as good as Fiels though.
step one: you will need the previous version of ms and the new version... DUH
step two: you must download a wz to xml program and a wz repacker...
step three: extract the chosen wz file of the previous version...
step four: locate your file and wait at least 5 minutes or a noticeable time difference...
step five: repeat step three with the new version BUT DO NOT REPLACE FILES!!!
step six: find the newest created files... these should be the files added in the patch.
step seven: open up your re packer and find the new files listed in your xml folder and extract them and begin to make a thread like fiels...
thoughts?
EDIT: prediction was a bit wrong. DOES WORK THOUGH AFTER TESTING
at step 5 you need to rename the previous versions file and then manually add the new ones to that file...
EDIT 2:
works great :P

That's not the point. "Anyone" can do extractions because the format is known and tools have been made public. If the encryption suddenly changes and we're reliant on a repacking script, where are we now? Fiel mentioned that as owner of SP, he's cracked four formats (LaTale, DFO, DN, MS patch). That's not to say that there is no one else equally competent, but it's no simple role we're talking about.
Of course, the owner doesn't have to be the one to do this.

lol. If Southperry is self sustaining, idk what sense there is in shutting it down. Not like it matters to me. The only few people I'd miss are Ji, Rick, and Swerve, and the only person I don't have contact information for is Ji. There wasn't much community here as Swerve said. x[
Anyways, if Fiel can't get his site to sell, why shouldn't he give it to one of his admins or his mods so that they could run it until an appropriate extractioneer comes along? The site should be able to run without the need for extractations. Sleepywood is an example.

Southperry's IP will live and die based on quick and thorough extractions. The next stage if no one step ups to take the mantle should be to make a new board based solely on social discussion. I've seen it happen to three or four boards before with mixed results, but the majority of the "in" crowd at SP have alternative means of contact anyways.

I can't believe it.. I just can't believe it.
I knew this day would come, but not so soon. This has probably been the website I've visited the most times, and it's my favourite forum ever. I really didn't see this coming.
Life moves on, I know that. I was an "addicted" MapleStory player until some time ago, when I almost completely stopped playing that game. Now, I almost completely lost my interest in the game, but I still liked browsing Southperry very much.
I don't believe that Southperry will go down: Fiel will eventually find someone who meets the requirements and wants to run the site - at least I hope so. There probably are many people willing to pay thousands of dollars for this website, but yeah, as Fiel said Southperry needs someone special to run the site. It's not like everyone can manage such a big website.
I'm really sad you decided this Fiel, but.. yeah, you have to think more about your future, and I think you made the right decision.
I will miss all the good years passed here, with all the cool people, the goggle meme, and much more. Even after what happened, I still keep liking this website very much. But maybe closing it will be the best choice, since I have a feeling that nobody will ever be as good as Fiel at running this website.
You'll be missed. Farewell, Paul. You'll be missed much.

Does anyone actually mind if Southperry just runs WITHOUT extractions? I certainly don't.
This.
Although Extractions are popular, they only makes up about 2.62% of the actual forum. And it is the 10th most posted forum. Although extractions are good, they aren't needed to keep SP alive. And since Masteria is pretty much a voided project... any content coming to GMS would pretty much be pre-made or predictable.
There is also the topic that an admin would not have to know how to extract, but simply get someone to extract for them.
Even then, most people (I think), are still here because of the community, the extractions are just a good bonus.
Other 'Demographics' (Taken on 5/28/10, 7:37 AM):
Note: Percentages may not equal exactly 100%
The Funhosue makes up about 22.89% of the forum. (This actually pretty large for just one section, this means about 1 in 5 posts on SP are in the Funhouse)
The Social Section (Including A&E) takes up about 44.38% of the forum. With this, the Maple section alone is 53% of the forum.
The average posts a member of SP makes is 74.
However, the post to view count ratio may be much higher in the Extractions section, but still...
Although it would turn into a normal MS Fansite, we'd have a much stronger community then the other fansites, since we never became really large.
Well, here's a tip for you guys: If you want to get rid of me, just appoint LHCGreg or Goku as the new Head Admin.
Other than that, I'll stick around to point out things I don't like about you.

@Extraction comments: I think it's important to note that one of the biggest aspects of this site Paul implemented to set it apart from others like Sleepywood and Basilmarket was an extraction section that always had the first information for any version of MS. It's one reason a large portion of people, those who usually don't post or don't even have accounts, visit this site: because the Maple News is top-notch. How many of you posting for the elimination of extractions get pissed off when other sites essentially copy and paste Paul's hard work to their own General MapleStory sections? Regardless of if you get pissed off or not, most of those threads all say "credits to" and, under whatever rules the site may have, pay tribute to Paul/SP for the information. The bottom line is that without SP extractions, the Maple community would receive game information that much longer. The organization and process of providing such information on SP is so well done that (aside from the social forums which, might I add, really only the small community of users that frequent SP post on) it is one of the biggest highlights of the site.
Keep in mind, too, that if you want to play the forum statistics game, you have to keep the reality of the matters in check. The social forums are usually only visited by the most active Southperricans, while Extractions only come a few times a month. Even MapleStory Discussion/Class-Related threads are few and far between simply because it's easier to throw a new internet meme/viral video in the Funhouse than it is to create a discussion on some aspect of MapleStory that hasn't already been discussed.
In the end, I think it's imperative to recognize the importance and innovation of a forum for Extractions, especially when condemning it to death in order to keep the site as a whole alive. If it came down to the option of "let the whole site die" or "let the site continue sans Extractions," of course I would vote for letting the site continue, as most would, but we still have 2.5 weeks. If possible, let's try to find someone who can do extractions for the site a few times a month rather than condemn the practice immediately.

Sad to see you go Fiel, you always appeared very fair and seemed to know what you were doing. Good luck in whatever else you do though I'm sure you won't need it.
As much as I'd love to see this site flourish even after Fiel is gone, I think the community is a bit too unruly and won't ever fully accept someone new. Who knows though.

I never said get rid of extractions. That's why I said extractions may have a much higher view:post ratio.
It is a big part of SP. But, If we can't find someone to take over the board,I would like for us to still exist in some way. It would still end eventually, but, not as abruptly as this.

In the first post, Paul said he pays through the 17th. And we know southperry existed in 6.30.08. This means he bought both the server and the domain on 6.17.08. He decided to end it on the 6.15.10, which is 2 days prior to completing 2 years. Coincidence? I think not. If what I'm assuming is correct, the domain is payed yearly and will end on 6.17, which is why he posted it now.
Honestly, Paul - did you have that planned?

- Access to the DNS (NameCheap - yearly dues are next month)
The domain is not tied to the web host, however, it will expire next month just like the web host service. IMO Fiel needs to at least renew the domain so that someone couldn't hijack it. It only costs around 9 bucks renew it for a year.

That can be solved by a simple DNS lookup:

And no, I do not pay yearly, I pay monthly.

Have you forgotten theres a ton of development forums that could crack the new one in a minute?
Don't worry about that... first we need someone to take over the admin job...

Reading the posts before me, I gotta agree. There is quite a handful of us .. veterans, who no longer frequent maplestory but merely enjoy the community of SP. So if Eos really plans to take up the forum, I'm all for it. And of course, if this happens, do visit us fiel. :)

You getting a warning for a breaking a rule, then breaking the same rule to whine about it after the fact has nothing to do with freedom of speech.

Fiel has stated that it's not an issue with revenue. He just doesn't have the time to perform all the duties that he has been doing in the past. A number of assumptions can be made about how much SW makes or how much SP makes based on factors X, Y, and Z. But it's illogical to assume that the reason why Fiel has decided to stop running Southperry is because he's comparing income revenues with Sleepywood. It's perfectly fine if you want to view relationships in dichotomies: Democrats vs. Republicans, liberals vs. conservatives, corporations vs. environmentalists. But when it comes to actual application, these relationships are often false dichotomies that we establish in our own minds to make situations easier to understand.
Comparing SP to SW is apples and oranges. SW exists to be the most popular maplestory forum. SP exists for data extraction and game mechanics. Our goal is not to be the most popular, but to have the most information available. I would continue doing extractions even if we only had 1/2 of our current userbase (as I did when the site first started). Also, SW requires a different mindset to run. They need to have heavier moderation due to their larger userbase. Here we need to have larger staff to handle the extractions and data.
On a side note, the next way the site would branch out would be to get volunteers to fill in the calendar for Maplestory. That would support the community and also keep people coming back for news and whatnot.

I realize this, of course. I was around when it got deleted and when it got reimplemented. However, I'm going to safely assume that the point Paul was trying to get across was a way to spice it up. As of right now, it's virtually dead. There's very little information on it and people don't even know where it's located (See: Above). So, if someone were to update it regularly with patch dates, times, update information, 2x times...etc, then there may possibly be hope to bring in a regular user-base.
You can also see the events going on for the next five days at the bottom of the home forum page.

Oh I always thought that revenue would be the ultimate reason to continue expending time when you've actually moved on from maple (as I thought was the case for SW and Adura). I mean, it wouldn't seem like a waste of time if you were honing your skills (so to speak) and making a buck.

I think it would have been wiser to try a find a co-host in like a month-or-two period of time instead of announcing the shutdown of the site so abruptly. Maybe you have already but it does seem a little too sudden. I'm not sure how fees and administration goes but perhaps you can leave the site on its own and see if anything comes up by itself by other users. Yes, I believe he was trying to get across that the site, in its current state (as it is now, I would describe such a state as "falling apart" or "falling through the cracks"), doesn't need extractions. They aren't a necessity nor are they imperative to have in such a situation.
However, in the past, they were imperative to bring in a steady user revenue.

The two threads are kinda operating under different assumptions.
In this one, I was under the impression that Southperry will be vanishing entirely if nobody steps up to buy it and assume responsibility. That being the case, I would want the most unique content (largely Training Centre stickies, though the foreign version extractions are useful reference) to be preserved somehow.
In the other thread, you're asking which position the users want to see you in in future - the current site content would not be significantly affected, making my post in this thread not relevant.
So I guess it's more a response to your option C in that thread, 'do neither'.
Southperry's already lost the main extraction database (full GMS information) and seems to have survived that ok (although I miss it) so cutting back a little more on extractions wouldn't be the end of the world. Especially if someone like Korstantetov who has their own extractions were to step up into that position, I feel it would have less of an impact than changing the leadership of the site again.

Yeah I lied and said I would be coming back. Downloaded, went on.. Got bored within 5 minutes. Immediate uninstall.
I miss the days I would get butterflies just signing on and seeing the Wizet logo go by. Won't come back though -.- Oh well.
Godspeed Southperry!

Ah well, nothing lasts forever. It's funny how you sometimes forget that forum characters have people behind them with busy lives and all :) gl I'll miss you!

Well man, youre 23 no wonder............
but thats a hobby, you can work and do that exact hobby too, depends whatcha wanna do with it
This is not a story that you've heard or you know
Everyone in black from the head to the toe
And I'm sitting in the back in the very last row
Hearing everyone ask why I poop
Ladies and gentlemen we're gathered here today
To talk about the end in a friend gone away
Talking about pretending they don't know what to say
And they're tripping over words but they're talking anyway
Mingling and singing all these really sad songs
Talking of what I did right and forgetting all my wrongs
Saying how they'll miss me so much now that I'm gone
Man this is depressing
Let's move on
Let's move on
Come back to life like the light of the dawn
It's like a tightrope just move right along
Don't look down and don't step wrong
We don't have time so just move on
Friends from my past wiping tears on their sleeve
In between people that were never close to me
And as I turn my back on everyone to leave
I know that I'll be back to see them all eventually
I've gotta go away just to try something new
Cause what I'm used to isn't all that I can do
Just a change of scenery, just another view
Take it back to the beginning
Take it back to the roots
Let's move on
Come back to life like the light of the dawn
It's like a tightrope just move right along
Don't look down and don't step wrong
We don't have time so just move on
Come back to life like the light of the dawn
It's like a tightrope just move right along
Don't look down and don't step wrong
We don't have time so just move on
Just move on
Just move-

Well this is a newsflash to me. Good to see you're moving on, Paul. No offense to anyone who still plays/enjoys the game, but you can only do so much for a game until you get to where you can't stand it anymore. Keep in touch on AIM dammit.

Wow, now I'm sad I never really got active enough on the forums to know anyone... :/
I guess everyone will move on sooner or later. I'm pretty much sticking around in Maple for the Black Magician storyline and still hoping Nexon will put out official art of the Black Wings. When that's done, I'll probably disappear from Maple myself.

Well now, looks like all good things must come to end eh? Many have said what I would say, regrettable that such a place goes boom, but in the face of life issues it is inevitable. Before the site goes down, I suppose we can still hope for the best and expect the worst. Anyway, if worse comes to worst, than good luck with life everybody.

I know that I've never been one too active among all the members here and that I've been even more-so inactive lately, but this is a depressing, yet realistic revelation. Having been here since the split off from Sleepywood, I'd like to say you've provided a very mature and informative home for those interested in Maple and other things. The community was one I felt we could all be comfortable in and not have to deal with many idiotic or redundant questions or topics that were purely self-centered.
Seeing this happen though, I really should evaluate those questions you've asked yourself for myself. I'm not really getting anywhere towards moving forward since high-school has ended and I've lost touch with practically everyone I once knew; partly out of spite that I was the only one putting a step forward with any of them. I've seen entire generations pass in MS and have made no recent efforts to find new friends in game; even avoiding some of those who I've known for some time so as to not get involved in anything. Since I've already made a commitment to not purchase NX anymore among all these other things, I really need to consider once and for all deleting MS. The only real thing keeping me around was interacting with the community here, and even then I was more a lurker than anything else. Although, the way I've been the past year, I can't say I have much of a social life left... an additional factor keeping me here.
So, yes, there comes a time when we must all move on, even if it means a fresh start with no backing or direction. For every end, there is a new beginning. I wish you well on your endeavors.
P.S. I regret never messing around with you Pinapple guys in Khani on my spy characters I made on whim.

it will suck to see the site go...
yet in my mind i wish Fiel'd play one massive F***-you game with everyone. on June 14th, id love to see everyone get banned across the board, just to nail that final nail into the coffin before laying the site to rest.

No thank you. Please refrain from screwing over the community with a personal fantasy. That is all.

Personal fantasy would probably have us all having Chinchillas as avatars, not all of us banned.
