Ok before I show you this, please I repeat PLEASE refrain yourself from flaming, yes I know the graphics are very crappy but programming with visual basic is kinda hard ESPECIALLY trying to recreate maplestory with it which is literally near impossible.
If you are going to flame now in a very unpleasant way, get out.

Two years ago when I first learned how to make stuff with visual basic, out of boredom I turned my 'meteor dodge' game into a very crude version of maplestory. Instead of the normal towns, I decided to improvise and create something new, a true parallel dimension to the real maplestory world.

Currently I've made two version, the old 1 and the new 1. The old one has more areas than the new one but frankly the quality of the game sucks...
Reason being is because the old version does not have moving monster skins or character skins, plus the character cannot jump and the damage timer is faulty. The new version does not have any of these bugs but however not much places is implemented in the game.
However both parallel maplestory versions have their own faults. In both caes, there's no such thing as levelling or wearing equips coz implementing this in Visual Basic is almost impossible for me to do.
With the screenshots below, I know it's not convincing but I can't make a youtube video from this and yes, you don't have to point out the fact that the game grahpics is crap >.<.

Why did I make this? Why out of pure boredom. Since my school strongly prohibits most games on PC especially visual boy and project 64, I've decided along with a group of friends to make this game simply for entertainment since solitaire and math circus are by far horrificly boring compared to this.

Most of the areas have their resemblance towards the real Maplestory places.

Prairie Fields
Prairie Town:
This is the first town you start off in, I derived this background with real ms Henesys with the same music backdrop. TO the left of the twon (shown in the picture) lies the forbidden woods, the next area implemented and to the right is the fields.
In the fields, monsters outside are weak ranging from snails to cellions. Basically it's a bright and cheerful place.

Monsters:
Snail, Shroom, Fierry, Green Mushroom, Jr Cellion, Jr Grupin, Jr Lioner, Stone Golem.

Prairie Hedgemaze
If this was in realms, this would be a party quest but in this, it's called a DQ (Dungeon Quest) where you have a timer to complete different stages.
The aim of this DQ is to reach the centre of the maze and kill the centipede in the centre.

Monsters:
Nepeandath, Giant Centipede.

Forbidden Woods
Forbidden Woods
This 'sleepywood' themed area is a slightly harder area compared to Prairie Fields. This area consists of fairly weak monsters in the forest itself and strong ones in the minidungeons within the forest. Unlike all the other areas, this region does not have a town.
There are a few subareas within the woods.
Monsters:
Slimes, Jr Necki, Crows, Cloud Fox, Dark Cloud Fox, Ligator

Forbidden Woods Cemetary
This undead themed area is derived from Mushroom Shrines Cemetary with the exception the graves are more european. This place is full of wraithkind (with exception of Elder Wraith). It also holds one area boss Shade which is located at the very end of the maps.

River Passage (aka.Bottom of the Well)
From the screenshot above, one falls into the well to reach this place. This area is full of slimes and bubblings barricading your way. This passage also leads to the desert area of Tehdit Desert (yes lame name) and also holds another area boss, our one and only King Slime from Kerning City Party Quest!

Chaos Tower
Somewhere within the wood lies a tower ruled by undead known as Chaos Tower. It is a Dungeon Quest Area like the hedgemaze and it is themed off the Sharenian ruins. The final boss is a Crimson Balrog atop 40 floors in the tower.

Rockfall Mountain
After going through Forbidden Woods, oen would reach the Rockfall Mountains. It is the 3rd area I've implemented after the woods. There are 2 towns currently avaliable here.

Lower Rockfall
The main town here is Zant which I didn't know up until half a year later that this name is from Arurarose Online. The name is actually from a friend who suggested the town name to me.
Anyway back on topic, Zant is somewhat Perion themed minus the american indian backdrop. Basically it resembles an old mining town jammed into te mountain. Around here, a lot of boars roam around searching for people to kill.
If one travels further n leftwards of the map, they'd arrive at some ski-lifts where they can be transprted to Mid Rockfall.
There is one minidungeon in this area:

Old Mine
One of the weakest subdungeons, this mine has 4 maps and consist of nothing but stirges and flyeyes. Nothing much to say about here though I might add an expansion to this...

http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/ee336/JezzaRules/OldMine.jpg

Mid Rockfall (Aka. Snowy Rockfall)
After getting off from the Ski Lifts, Rockfalls background suddenly becomes snowy. Here, there's only one town nearby called Salmaand.
Salmaand has a slight resemblance to El Nath with the exception it's wedged on a mountain instead of at the foot.
If you head on any further from here, you'd come across two split paths in which one leads to a shrine in the sky and the other takes you to a subdungeon.

http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/ee336/JezzaRules/Salmaand.jpg

Monsters:
All of the Yeti family (except Snowman and Bigfoot), Hector, White Fang, Jr Pepe, Pepe, Ice Drake, Ice Golem, Werewolf, Lycanthrope

Upper Rockfall (Aka Crystal Caverns)
One of the strongest subdungeons in the game, this area consists of mainly Ice golems and Blue Wyverns in which they have an attack that slows you unlike in real maplestory. Towards the end are skelegons barricading your progress and past them lies the entrance to an another DQ, Lair of Azul.

http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/ee336/JezzaRules/CrystalPeak.jpg

Lair of Azul
Lair of Azul currently is the hardest DQ in the game simply because the final boss Azul is simply annoying and hard to kill. Azul can spit ice at you from a distance and after a certain amount of time, he simply 'shoop da whoops' you down which has a high chance of killing you.
Aside from that, the stages involve travelling through different stages, nothing much to say there.

Azuls "Shoop da Whoop"

Grass Country
Weird name isn't it? I have no idea why I called it that coz I kinda forgot...
One of the biggest regions up to date so far, it is an asian themed area mostly relating towards Peach Blossom Island in MSEA and somewhat related to Showa at the same time.
To go there, one must talk to a blue bird in Prairie Fields who will take you to Shonta, the first town.
*Note: Sorry, no pictures here yet, there's more to come

Cherry Blossom Village
To reach there, keep heading left from Shonta until you reach there. The background despite the poor drawings on paint would look pretty if it was properly done. Leatties and Sakura Cellions play among the cherry blossom flled roads. The town hosts two special areas:

Cherry Blossom Hot Spring House
Has a slight resemblance from the Showa version except more traditional. Even better is that you (male) can sneak into the female area... if you don't mind being bashed by Anego along the way...
Oddly enough, these areas do not have any monsters thus it's mainly 'for fun' maps filled in.

Yuko Mansion
A traditional version of the Yakuza hideout, it is another DQ this time involving with ninja like characters. (Kaede castle wasn't released when I made this) This DQ involves in assassinating an assassin who causes terror in Cherry Blossom Village.

Wu Feng
If one travels towards the right from Shonta, you'd find an NPC who'll take you to Wu Feng, a mushroom shrine themed town.
WIthin this town are three mushroom statues each taking you to orange mushrooms, blue mushrooms and zombie mushrooms respectively.
At the end of these maps are the standard mushmom bosses.

Hanako Shrine
A unique minidungeon like area located to the very far right from Shonta. Aside from Samihos, Lantern Ghosts and Himes, there's also a new monster I made which I call 'Spirit Dancers' which is a white version of Himes.
At the end is the 'Grampa boss' from the realms Showa Mansion where he goes under the alias of 'Moon Templar'

As you may have noticed, there's more to come so if you're interested, stay tuned =).

I've seen a bit of this and seriously it isn't that bad considering you take around a few hours finishing one map. I've seen worse believe me. I never knew this will go that deep tho O_O...

Uh... it would be good if you just handdrew all the rest of the sprites, maybe? You might as well ditch the maplestory theme.
