I'm at 110 right now and i'll probably grind to 120 today or tommorow with 2x, 3x, 4x, or 6x depending on the avaliability of buff circles, and priest friends being on, but I was wondering what skill choices people made at 9th mastery.. is flame wheel more usefull that earthquake for example? Or should I try to get into zruns and get my magic mastery book and max that first. Illusion seems like a decent choice for bossing if I GL and then illusion once or twice and repeat. Anyways any input would be appreciated.

Illusion should be one of the last skills you max, no ones inviting you to boss runs(if at all) for you to deal 1v1 damage, Imprint and Killing Wing Spam handle it just fine.

Flame Wheel and Magic Mastery highly depend on where you plan to train.

Training at gallops, would still having you use Earthquake the majority of the time, and as such, its smarter to use magic mastery to increase your consistency in 2hitting/1hitting, along with that slight increase in damage. This can also apply if your one of those Evans that used Earthquake at Skeles.

I found Flame Wheel destroyed Skele and ToT maps, and using it over Earthquake increased my % per hour and let me get out of what I found to be a very boring stage in training an Evan. (Earthquake spam) Although, some people claim that spamming Earthquake at that level could be similar to spamming Flame Wheel in terms of experience per hour, I haven't tested this myself since I was enjoying flame wheel to much.. but yeah, there is that possibility.

Guess it actually just comes down to preference on how you want to train.

Mm. My problem right now is obtaining skillbooks. The amount of magic mastery books availible in Galicia is pretty slim. Sam with flame wheel and I don't think any paps either. Gah. Guess I gotta do them myself. Its going to be incredibly hard for me to get into a zrun though :/.

I've stopped my Evan due to the lack of skills. I don't have Flame Wheel nor Magic Mastery.
I'd suggest getting whatever is available at the time (Magic Mastery or Flame Wheel) and going to Gallos if the former and Skeles if the latter.
Either way, training an Evan is still pretty wicked fast.

The upside is that Zak's droprate has been doubled since Evan's patch. With 2x drop buff now, you'll get 6~10 zhelms, 12 skillbooks and literally everything else.

That's awesome. Wewt. While I feel very important being a part of Galicia's 300 level 125+ population, it makes it hard to find people to get in runs when everyone in my guild hasn't even hit 4th job yet. Oh well. My bl is catching up so hopefully we can start pulling some hour and a half zruns.

If you already have the Mastery 10 and Flame Wheel 10 skill books, then you will probably be better off getting the 20 and 30 mastery books from the monster drops instead of the bosses. The one book I have had trouble getting is Illusion 20. Red Dragon Turtles and Pap drop it, but neither of them have been very lucrative. Mastery 20 is a Skele drop, so it's not too hard. I got 3 Mastery 30 books from Mem Trainees in 45 minutes of 4x drop.

Anyway... Regarding your initial post, you will find that you use both Wheel and Quake. It takes a while before Wheel becomes as good as Quake, so you will use quake up until that point. Wheel becomes equal to Quake when it hits lvl 20 I believe, but it only has 45% mastery at that point which means that your Magic Mastery skill won't kick in. It will do less damage overall than quake. The big attraction for Flame Wheel is is the insanely long range. the downside is that it only hits 6 whereas Quake will hit 8 targets. You will end up hotkey-ing both skills and using them according to your situation.

As far as training them up, you will probably end up going with whichever skill you actually have the books for. Personally, I went Mastery until it was lvl 20 and then maxed out Wheel. I had all the books I needed but ended up failing my Mastery 30 book 5 times... Maple Warrior will be next and Illusion will wait until I max out whatever level I have MW at.

Flame wheel at skeles got me more experience per hour then using earthquake right at 120.
Magic Mastery all ready kicks in even if the skill doesn't have 60% mastery.
