My laptop has only done this once before, about two weeks ago, but I booted up my computer today and the cursor (touchpad) had gone all screwy on me. Everything is reversed when it happens, so if I try to move it up, it goes down, try to move it left, it goes right. The scrolling function, normally on the right, switches to the left side of the touchpad.

I don't know if it's a virus or just something with my laptop- I tried googling it and didn't really find anything (what do I search? mouse cursor opposite direction? cursor confused, I don't know).

Has anyone heard of something like this happening before? I don't have my USB mouse with me to see if it's just the touchpad that's screwing up.

The control panel's mouse category didn't yield anything, so I don't know how I'll prevent it next time it happens or how to fix it when it does.

You can try reinstalling the mouse pad drivers or restore to the orignal settings for the mouse pad if you ever played around with them.

Or you could just use your laptop backwards and see the screen in a mirror?

I love humor.

Re-installing your drivers should fix your problems. Another thing you could do is to open up Task Manager and find the program that your Laptop Mouse is using. Then you'd just end the task and restart the task. However, that might be a problem if you don't know which process controls the touch pad.

I'd just re-install the drivers. Take a look at your Device Manager (accessed via Control Panel) and see if there are any exclamation marks on a driver. If there is, that's probably the problem.

By the way, the problem is that your Mouse is inverted. You can search for that.
