I opened up CPU-Z to take a look at something and found that my 2.33 Ghz Core 2 Duo was running at 2.0 Ghz. I watched it for a minute or two and noticed that the multiplier reading kept changing. Every 10 seconds or so it would go up to 7.0 and bring the core speed back up to 2.33 Ghz and then instantly go back down to 6.0. This bothers me because both my cores are losing 1/7th of their processing speed. Can anyone tell me what a possible cause of this might be?
Edit - I just took a look at the BIOS. It clearly said 2.34 Ghz (335 x7), meaning that the multiplier is indeed 7.0. I opened up CPU-Z again to see if restarting fixed it. It did not. The voltage also seems a bit off. The listed voltage in the BIOS was 1.328 volts, while CPU-Z is giving me a reading of around 1.16 to 1.3 volts. I know hundredths of a volt are probably going to variate, but I am pretty sure the tenths should be close to constant.
