What is Another World?

For the past two weeks, I've teased and hinted about Another World. For those that were good enough to pick up on the movie thread, it was, in fact, a countdown. I've heard it alot the past two weeks..."What is Another World?". It's time to answer that question.

Another World is a forum add-on RPG world that will allow all our forum members to play alongside eachother in a fashion not unlike MapleStory. However, while we've used many images and other things from MS, we've completely created our own world, with our own story, quests, people, items, etc etc. There were many hints I gave that point to things inside the story itself that I will not answer, as you'll still have to figure those out yourself.

So, lets get right into it. Another World utilizes the RPG Inferno engine with some modifications to allow us to do what we're looking to do the best way possible. Those unfamiliar with the system can get some information at Inferno Technologies website. Players will be able to connect to the RPG straight from the forum, and play through the massive world alongside fellow SP lurkers.

Now, the part where I expect some disappointment. This is not the RELEASE of Another World. I'm close, but it's still not 100% ready as I need to make sure everything is balanced. The mods will soon have access to beta test, then we'll be releasing it a week early to all donators before the rest of the community can hop into it. So far, here is what will be available upon the opening of Another World.

-Levels 1-50 will be supported (with more expansions coming later)
-3 known solo-able bosses (Ghost Fox, Chinchilla King, General "Mad" Jack)
-1 known team boss (Dragon)
-4 accessable lands (Lupa, Elise, Chinchilla Island, and Blizz)
-6 different pets, to include a dog, a cat, and 4 types of chinchillas
-Multiple different weapons, outfits, and other things
-Gamer Cards to show off your RPG info in your signature
-12 "hidden" locations that you can only access through certain storyline/quest arcs
-Tons more to come

We'll be holding special events and other things inside AW that will be giving away rare items, to include the Grand Opening event that will allow you to get things such as the Firework Launcher (ranged weapon).

Lastly, congratulations again to Stereo, who wins an extremely rare Golden Chinchilla, which can only be gained through special events. Stereo will recieve their chinchilla when the game opens, and will have the companion to take with her right away while others will have to wait until being atleast Level 10 to buy a pet, or Level 20 to face the chinchilla king for a chance to get one of three chinchillas (white, black, and grey).

I'll be opening up a few topics in the Another World forums to answer any questions, take any ideas, and so on. I hope to have more info for you guys as it comes closer to completion! Thanks again for supporting Southperry as much as you all have!

Most "forum RPGs" end up being nothing more than a few boards for people to RP at, or something simple like pet-raising or battles that you do between people after buying items from gold you get for spamming the forum with useless shit.

Although at one point we considered adding an option to adopt your own Maple Chinchilla (MS styled chinchillas in the different classes, as well as some other unique ones) but that kind of just disappeared after we started this.

Really? And what engine do these "good number of other forums" use? Do they even use an engine or is it something thats so far from an RPG but still holds the same name? Because my engine is $60 a year to even use the license, something I'm almost positive most other forums wouldn't even consider paying out for on their own site. Not only that, it's alot more in depth than any others Ive seen, so don't take the hollowness from any other RPGs and project it onto this.

Listen, why don't you wait until it's release and see how it is BEFORE judging it. Then, if you don't like it, you don't have to worry about it anyway. It's not like we're forcing you to play it, so don't think the complaints of a few are going to get me to take away something I've heard alot of hype for.

I placed it up there because it's site related. It's up BY the site info, but isn't actually in with it. Still, its one forum...so people complaining about how they have to scroll down further or whatever are seriously either lazy as shit or are just looking for something to whine about. That's like being upset because gas went up 2 cents a gallon. Get over it.

When the hell did I say I was having money problems? I'm a Tier 2 tech guy, I make really decent money. I paid into this out of my own pocket. I do not, however, pay for everything with this site, as I can't commit month after month the payments needed. I have enough bills on my own to worry about, and don't want to risk a "bad month" affecting SP at all.
