I have tried to test it myself but I keep getting different speeds each time.

Here is what I have so far on triple swing (2nd job):

Test 1 (including time in prone position)

//this includes delay between each triple swing, which is kind of a useless test but I thought I'd post it anyway

2 (fast) // 1230 milliseconds
3 (normal) // 1350 milliseconds
4 (slow A) // 1470 milliseconds
5 (slow B) // 1560 milliseconds
6 (slower) // 1680 milliseconds

Test 2,3,4 (excluding time in prone position)

// This would be the maximum possible speed if the button was pressed as fast as possible

(5->2) 1150-1180-1200-1230
(6->3) 1200-1280-1280-1320
(7->4) 1350-1380-1380-1470
(8->5) 1470-1480-1480-1500-1570
(9->6) 1480-1500-1590

There is far too much variation in these numbers. I'm guessing that either:
A. the speed is random
B. my computer wasn't fast enough to test accurately

Can someone with a faster computer try testing this?

Also, could someone test if full-swing/over-swing are the same speed as 2nd job triple swing?

Note: This is very odd because when I tested skills such as brandish and genesis, my results were very close to the real cast speeds.

I will be retesting once I get a new computer, but it would be nice to have some values to compare to.

just a thought, but the speed of the attack could be linked to how fast you're actually successfully pressing the buttons for the combo. i know during pyramid pq ill be mashing the hell out oif attack on my keyboard with no uniformity and the combo speeds will vary vs. a continuous controlled sequence.

I found this to be the case as well, the speed of the combos being relative to the succession of the keying in of the attacks, but of course weapon speed does shave off a good deal of the delay, even with that taken into account though, Dps wise it all depends on the atk speed vs overall attack power of the PA that makes the Aran, but thats just my opinion.

It could be that the speed of pressing makes a difference, but I have recently done another test with a controller that would have pressed at a constant speed and the times still were variable. It seems that there are atleast 2 types of slash for arans and random increase/decrease in cast time.

This is weird. If you tested with other skills and they match up perfectly, then I highly doubt your computer is the problem. I heard from other people that have tried testing this that they get really funky speeds as well, so it's not just you.

I suspect you're on the right track about the swing types. I think it also may have to do with the fact that pressing the key gives different results from holding it down, so we are seeing variability from different swing types, and the fact that the attack key is mashed instead of spammed.

I also notice some numbers you are getting are not multiples of 30, which normally would be wrong, but I suppose anything's possible at this point, especially if you get consistent numbers on other skills...
