View Full Version : I'm going to try this game again.
The last time I played it was only the first day of Closed Beta. I didn't really get to play it after that, since Cygnus was out in Maple, so I never got back to DFO. So um... What class would you recommend me to play? I usually like melee classes, but I might switch to ranged, if they look fun. Which do you guys prefer?

I play lots of mages. Ranged classes are my preference, but there are melee mages as well but the ones I played were witch and elementalist. Elementalist is really fun because you run around spamming magic at your enemies to kill them and stuff. They're really good in dungeons and in PvP depending on your build but I won't rant about my class and I'll just give you this: http://wiki.dfo-world.com/index.php?title=Category:Characters which has a detailed description of every class on it.

Long time no see, man. There's three classes that are melee oriented, those being Priest, Slayer, and Fighter. The most melee intense classes are Monk (Greg and Fiel can tell you about this), Weapon Master, and Striker, from their general classes, respectively.
Video of a striker at a level that we can get to in DFO, and a dungeon that we have access to. (http://zoome.jp/axiesa/diary/9) Do note that they have avatar equipment that give them more attack speed than we do, so we do not attack as fast.
I'd suggest you browse around the site since you can read Japanese like I do, and this (dnf.wikiwiki.jp) is a good site for wiki information.

Do you have anything particular you want in a melee class? Speed, invincibility frames, agility, defense, etc.

Battle Mage is fun and dish out decent damage quickly using a mixture of ranges. Maintain a tempo(through combos) and unleash magical attacks as a result of your rhythm. Start off mage but then advance into bad-assery.

I'm thinking of going with Striker, after watching that video. Too bad it's only female. Oh well.

You could always wait like... a few more years for the Female Gunner, Male Striker, and Female Slayer to come out. ._.

There are some male examples of the Striker.
A ranger is the epitome of speed, has nice ways of escaping enemies, which sort of counts as invincibility frames.
As for Slayers, I think Blade Master would fit your bill, though I hear they are expensive to fund (their power is really dependant on their weapon)
For Priests, Monk sounds about right. Punches fast like Goku, and has a couple moves that invoke invincibility frames and mad swaying moves.

There's no concept art for them yet... I think. D:
Oh and Rangers erm... aren't the epitome of speed until like 4x~5x and up. :| And they're pretty crappy without a revolver that's +11 upgraded or above. I'm feeling the pain at +10.
Pretty much most classes that are % damage based instead of fixed damage bases suffer somewhat if you do not have a good weapon.

Well, if you are the type of person who does not like to play female characters, then a Monk would be your best bet. Monks have high mobility and good combo-ing abilities. Grapplers have plenty of invincibility frames and can use Tonfas (fast) instead of the more commonly used Gauntlet (slow). Strikers have speed and power. They also have some good combos as well, along with a buff that grants Super Armor (a status that makes you immune to being knocked down).
