View Full Version : MapleStory loads slow. Too slow.

Well, I have Vista. I'll say that right away because 90% of the time that's the problem.

So, every time I double-click MapleStory of my desktop to open it, it seems to take longer and longer to load. My theory is that it has something to do with screenshots, because it seems the more I have the slower it loads. Now, I'm getting sick of it, because today I woke up at 5:30 AM to grind. Now I'm sitting here, almost 6:30 AM, and Maple still hasn't popped up.

Suggestion?

Wait what.

You've been sitting there for 1 hour waiting for Maple to start?

Do yourself a favor and reformat your PC, and change your OS to XP, not Vista.

PROBLEM FIXED :D

Few things you can do:

1. Check how much free space you have left, if too little then delete some crap or get another harddrive, either internal or external.
2. If you have sufficent amount of free space, do a disk error check then defragment.
3. See what portion of ram vista is using, if too much, close some useless programs/processes to increase available ram. Or...just purchase more ram.
4. Virus/Spyware scan.

He didnt say he had a bad computer...all he said was that he had vista...and vista is just a system that he uses. Like what Valarius said he should change Vista to something else. His computer might be good enough to run it, he just has to change the system. ...so he should change his system because vista is known for problems.

we have to wait and see what kind of internet and computer he has.
....and vista isnt your computer its just the system that runs part of it.

Vista = bad computer.

The internet can be slow... but does Vista really affect MS that much?

Im not saying that Vista affects MS but Acim said himself that Vista is the problem. I just want to wait and see what type of internet and computer he has, because there might be problems from his internet or computer. And Randompeep, have you tried not using Vista to see if its faster? im just asking if its faster, not if it will load it at all.

I like vista better than XP. It all depends on the computer's specifications. Right now I'm just surfing and doing nothing...using up 1.3gigs of ram.

1)
Windows operating system = computer
Windows Vista = bad op. system for gaming = bad computer for MS

And yes, I have used XP and Vista for Internet. (too bad I don't have the XP for MS. T_T) The XP was faster, hands down.

Vista has long been established as a bad system for any gaming. If you have no operating system, you have no computer. There is no difference from an XP laptop to an XP desktop, as of my experience. So Vista, regardless of what kind of outer shell it has, it is pretty much the same program until you add mods to it, and that program is bad at running computer games. It gets the job done, usually, but...

2) I don't find this likely, but Acim, you should try scanning for spyware and viruses anyway. You never know.

3) Acim, you should also try loading it again. This happened to me once, I just fixed it by loading MS again.

4)Sorry for wall of text.

The operating system is the brain of the computer, it isn't the physical thing. The hardware also matters. Both together makes a computer.

Vista's got DX10, XP doesn't unless you install the mods, which are still unstable and causes errors. So any of the new games you'd need Vista(Also good hardwware) to get the stunning visual effects.

Vista's got a lots of new features that I like and makes it better, IMO, than XP. Vista is claimed to be back because of bad drivers/crappy hardware it is released with. If your system kick ass, you shouldn't have a problem.

I also find Vista deals with erros and multi tasking really well.

@ the OP-->Could you post the specs of your computer? Processor type & speed, as well as amount of RAM?

Also, have you tried restarting your computer before launching MS? That may help.

I think I'm having the same problem... it takes a long time for maple to start after gameguard started...

My computer is fine and I have windows XP. Already reinstalled maple and rebooted computer & modem. Also checked for spyware and cleaned my computer >_>

that doesn't happen with everyone. That happens to people because graphic card makers decide to release crappy drivers for vista, causing problems like that.
