Question about F/P

I am not a mage. I don't know much about mages; so I thought I'd ask.

Why do people dislike F/P so much? My F/P friend levels fast and people like to train with her. There's a F/P on my server, (unfortunately he's a prick,) who went from lvl 12x to 17x in like 2-3 months.

I know there's some basic disadvantages, but at the same time, the F/P will get his Meteor 30 faster and cheaper than an I/L will get Blizzard 30. As for a Bish getting Gen 30, on my server that's a bit hard to manage.

I think a good amount of it is because very few want Fire Arrow, which is single target. Another problem is that they burn money, especially 60-80.

From my F/P Experience i can tell you.. on 2nd & 3rd job, I/L are better than us, however on 4th job, F/P are almost the same as I/L.

The only thing that I/L Might be better than F/P is the Freezing on Ice skills, and Chain Lightning which its not stronger than Paralyze on a single target but besides that i love being a F/P Arch, Strongest at Bera btw :excellent: If you ask me personally i've never regret being a F/P After 4th Job.

One of the reasons F/Ps are lol'd at is because there are so few of them. It's kind of an endless cycle. They've never been an extremely popular class because the other two jobs had an AoE attack in 2nd job, also there was a time when poison was considered to be "useless" (Pre-Ludi & Aqua). They were rare enough to merit faming one on sight at one point. When lukless came about most of them went F/P, which populated the class some but most of 'em quit.

When 3rd job came, I/L could mob freeze and priests could leech using HS as a means to make up for the exp they leeched as well as attack decently with SR. F/P looked pretty silly by comparison because Aqua and Ludi weren't out yet (no monsters with high enough hp to take advantage of mist, explo being affected by weapon speed wasn't known yet). Now with 4th a lot of people think Meteor is their only redeeming and useful skill, which isn't true, but it makes even more people not wanna try the class because it doesn't sound like one skill is rewarding enough. It's basically just one big reverse bandwagon effect of misconceptions and general disinterest for the most part. o_O

Not dislike. Just not favored. With Khaini, it's because the FP community now thinks they're all that. And so caused the rise of "LOLFP".

Yeah, FP levels fast. Mist breezes them through 3rd job.

Meteo30 may be cheaper than the others but there's a cost to that. Meteo does not freeze. When you cast a spell that lasts 2-3 seconds, 15 monsters will be aggravated at you if you don't kill them in one hit. Genesis is like that but genesis cost half as much to cast which is a big upside.

F/Ps have traditionally been looked down upon, but with the introduction of NLC potions and faster poison training, F/Ps are at least on par with I/Ls now. There's just so few of us because of our history of sucking.

And I don't think that our 2nd and 3rd job are worse off than I/Ls'. Our 2nd job is arguably on par, and our 3rd job is far superior in my opinion.

Basically, F/P mages are the Paladins of the magician class
