Yes, I hate Nexon, yes, I've told you all this a million times, but I am having a really difficult time in my life right now so a little grinding might be in order. I've always wanted a Paladin, now that they've been tweaked I am thinking of making one. I have a bunch of questions so I was hoping to get some answers in the thread rather than asking a lot of questions in Ask a Warrior.

I quit Maple in Nov 08 and gave away most of my gear. However, I still have a bunch of gear that I could use for the Paladin. I have a 26 dex 12 acc unhammered Silver Fitted Mail which I plan to 90% Vega Scroll to get to 30 dex and 16 acc, I have a hammered 16 att bwg, a 2 att 5 dex unhammered FaceStompers, 11 dex unhammered earring, an above average HT pendant, and a 15 str, 23 dex 31 acc Zhelm. I also have a 3 att clean pink cape. Finally, I have a 118 att Morningstar, unhammered. My would-be Paladin is on the same account as my lvl 160 Bishop, so Fairy's Blessing provides an additional 16 att and 16 accuracy.

Regarding gear, can someone suggest gear upgrades? Also, can someone recommend a skill path for a hybrid Paladin? I want to be able to effectively use both blunt weapon and sword.

Any miscellaneous recommendations regarding Paladins and warriors in general are much appreciated. Thanks!

Going hybrid would be rather difficult, because in third job the charges are not singular. One works for sword and one works for blunt weapon. I would strongly recommend going one way or the other. Here (http://www.southperry.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3602&pagenumber=&3602-=Array) is an excellent guide. Hope it helps.

You can't effectively use Blunt Weapon and Sword.

No go hybrid. Hybrid bad. Sword is the way to go, or wait until kMS makes hammers actually useful if that's your true interest.

It is physically impossible to be a hybrid Paladin without making yourself crippled in each aspect. Just pick one or the other. I'd suggest BW if you can get a Crushed Skull and an attack shield later on.

Yeah. For the love of god don't do it. With the new KMS changes every skill in 2nd job bar maybe FA (still very highly recommended over a second mastery + some booster) is now needed, every skill in third job is also now basically required to be for one weapon or the other, not both, else you'll take a pretty big hit to your damage. That means you have enough for both masteries and booster partway for each

It is complete impossible to be hybrid after 3rd job without losing out. You have 151 points in 3rd job. With those, you definatly need to max charge blow, fire charge and lightning charge. Ice charge is also extremely recommended, that leaves you 31 points to do with as you wish. IF for some unknown reason you decide to skip ice charge completely (you'd be a fool) then you have enough to max fire + lightning for both weapons. After that, once you're at 4th, you still end up 20 skill points behind any other paladin, because you havbe to raise 2 holy charges.

And even if you do go hybrid, you're going to be using one weapon for all of 3rd job anyway or you lose out, adn then at 4th you have to use one weapon until you've maxed ACB, blast, holy charge twice (80 skillpoints, aka level 146) before you should even think about having a choice between weapons, at which point you're still lagging behind in other skills, like having a higher level rush or heavens hammer

Cape and shoe should probably be switched for some speed equips. Cape would be Icarus 2 or Maple Cape (if you have one), shoe is pretty much whatever you want (you can buy 11-13 speed Whitebottoms for pretty cheap, or forge 5 speed warrior shoes and 60% them to 11-13 easily)

Probable your overall should be switched to a more str-set gear at some point, either top+bottom or str overall scrolls. Esp. with a scrolled zakum helm acc is not likely to be a problem.

Hybrid White Knight is never going to give you equality of weapons. The only viable 3rd job build is something like 30 ACB + 30 Fire + 30 Lightning + 30 Thunder + 30 Blizzard + 1 Mana Recovery, where Fire+Lightning are Sword charges, and Thunder+Blizzard are BW charges. But then you can only train efficiently on Fire/Lightning mobs with the sword, and Ice mobs with the BW.

I really don't see a Crushed Skull as a good investment. You're 9% behind 1h swords just due to the speed. Might not sound like a lot, until you total up your weapon attack. I don't exaggerate when I say 300+ atk is not out of reach with a Crushed Skull and Apples, and that 9% could be 27 atk, or the difference between a 145 and 118 atk weapon. (at that, you'd only need a 6 attack shield to hit 300+). Trying to match a reverse Executioners with 125 attack (what is that 5/9 60%), well, good luck buying that 154 atk +7 30% Crushed Skull. Two handed swords have a larger gap, but lose the atk shield - making up for a 44 atk difference, even if you had a 20 atk shield, is 130 2h vs. 155 Crushed Skull territory again.

Choose one weapon and stick with it. If you are all about the numbers or if you happen to prefer sharp edges, go with swords. If you want to buy cheap weapons and be somewhat rare as far as pallys go, go with blunts. Unless you gonna pour in huge amounts of time, mesos and NX the difference between swords and hammers won't be very noticeable, 1-handed or 2-handed. Personally I think there's something magical about whacking monsters over the head with a huge hammer that takes two hands to swing....
