So just how far have you gone to prepare for the release of Pirates?

I know a lot of you are as excited as I am. I've done a lot to prepare for the release, even if it's next month, or next year. I'm even taking a break from Maple until then so it's like a fresh new experience.

So far what I've done is:
Quit my secondary and sold the items. Leaving myself with around 800mil in funds.
Gathered up enough Exchange Quest to get to level 20.
Trained a level 10 Beginner with perfect Infighter stats.
MTSing on my Pirate account to save NX for HP washing.
Collecting Leafre ETC on my 14x Marksman for cheap seeds for my Pirate.
Obtained a 2/2/1/1 Spiegelmann Necklace for my Pirate, along with a Brown Bandana. (Dexless FTW.)
In the process of looking for a 25+Dex Sauna/Bathrobe.

That's about everything I've done so far. I may be jumping the gun a little, but Pirates are a brand new game, and I needed something like this.

Wow, you've done quite a bit. All I've done is train my beginner to level 10. I saved my AP since I don't know which Pirate I'm going to make. I'm most likely going to make a Gunslinger though. It'll be my secondary character so I don't intend on putting a lot of funds into it.

I made an Infighter AND a Gunslinger on my Pirate account, just so I wouldn't have to toy with the idea of which I want more.

I'm definitely leaning towards Infighter the most though. <3 Melee Classes.

Then again, Gunslingers are suppose to have horrible damage until 4th job, so stocking up on money to buy Dex Gear sounds like a nice idea. :eek:

I already made my character(a future gunslinger), and started gathering equips(WG's, capes, etc.). I have quite a number of items for the orbis exchange quest to quickly level, but i'm having trouble gathering enough mesos to build up a solid fund...

The only thing you seem to be missing is INT equips to get more mp for hp washing xP

-more random calculations which allow me to be able to wear the level 90 knuckle until level 120. (only because the lvl 90 is so freakin sexy)
-saving mesos for future scrolls, 14/15atk scg, HT pendant bundle (ive also made plans to mass scroll lvl 60 pirate shoes.)

There's so much to do, and i feel that there isn't much time left :eek:

I actually still haven't sold out all my mage equips, so i should do so soon!

Oh and...I always wanted to prepare a little guild for the pirate noobs before the class actually came out to get together. That way we can chat, discuss, make friends, and who knows...when pirate class comes out, we can all explore and advance, and terrorize the maple world with our "CREW"!!! ARGH!!:mad:

Not bad. I haven't even thought about a Horntail bundle. Hopefully by the time my Infighter is 120 they'll be cheap as hell.

Eh, I'm not too keen on going past level 10 for one reason:

HP.

Beginners get a lot less HP per level up, and you never know how much you'll be missing from a Pirate's natural HP increase. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I Haven't even started yet...., but that's due to the fact that I haven't been in the US since June 1st, but when I get back August 7th (8th?) I'll start preparing, already saving money for NX/iTCG (set 1/2) to fund myself and i'll start getting eq from my NL, by the way which is better Showa EQ or Orbis EQ?

Edit : Oh and when I get back, moving my NL to Kradia (hopefully Yellonde will be out) and starting my Inf (abbreviations ftw?) there :D. Only problem is I gotta get re-married to apple fund myself. Oh and im not gonna go over 10.

Don't try again with because of 4/5...I wasted hours and I dont think it's really worth the 1 AP. Then again, it isnt hard, especially now, to get to level 10. I redid my character 3 times because that hair quest screwed me over. In the end...I'm still screwed over.

Yeah, that's why I stay level 10 99.98% and don't want to get too many EQ items, because I want to be able to experience the skills before I get to 2nd job.

I plan on moving to Yellonde in the event we get a new server with Pirates, so I figure it wouldn't make much sense to invest in lots of stuff for my Kradian pirate-to-be.

I've been gathering nx via MTS to afford equips no matter which server I'm on, though. :3

I've currently got a level 15 beginner with infighter stats. I plan on getting it to 29 w/99% before Pirates are out, so I can advance to first, then 2nd job instantly. For those who aren't aware and might say something, if you advance to 1st job after level 10 you still get your SP. I've done it myself on a test beginner, and it works. The only real drawback is the loss of HP, which someone on these board (cant think of names atm) has mentioned is around 150HP, which is a hefty amount. I plan on HP washing to make up for it. I've got some friends who will most likely CPQ with me (rigged, on 2x) to get to 51 incredibly fast (possibly the first day Pirates are out). After that, its just good, old-fashioned grinding.

As for the funding, I haven't done anything yet to equip it except trade my 13 att SCG and 10m for a 13 att BWG. I plan on selling my luk sauna, earrings, attack shield, and dagger to get some good dex gear and a zhelm. Currently I'm debating over whether or not I want to scroll my FS or sell them and hunt for some 12 dex YSS...I'm looking at getting a 25 dex robe and 10-11 dex earrings. I'd sell my stuff now, but I wouldn't have anything to do on Maple until Pirates are out if I did...also there's the chance that I'd decide to go back to my CB, so I'm not real sure on what I want to do just yet.

3.Created my character with x/x/4/5 i might retry for 4/4

What i plan to do:
1.Get to lvl 29 idc about the hp loss for some reasons.
2.Get some dexless equips (you get 40 free accuracy so im going dexless)
3.Save up for a zhelm possibly a pendant
4. Get stuff for 3rd job adv.
5. Get stuff for the Zakum quests
6. Maintain lvling a new char while merchanting for mo money!
7.Become one of the top pirates in mardia <3333 (lol ya right.)
8. Possibly save up nx.

The quest you're thinking of (Given by Olaf in Lith) can be done at any level or not at all. Hell, you can do the quest to become a mage and become a warrior. Personally, I always pretend I'm going to be a bowman because Henesys is in a very convenient place.

Levelled my Pirate (iSwabDecks) to level 10, 99.98%. I currently have 40 slots of 200 EQ filled, my goal is to get to 60 slots. I also collected every item he will need for quests up to level 30. All this should get to me level 22ish.

You have the most unrealistic perception of people that disagree with you, ever. would there be any hp loss ? there arent any hp+ skills in the 1st job. and as for the hp gain per level its the same no matter what level or job you are unless you have a skill that adds to hp in first job like wariors o.0. and as for the hp added for the job adv it is probably added too.

no we dont get hp/mp bonuses at 2nd 3rd or 4th... and i think what makes the bonus a bonus as you said mages get more mp wariors get more hp etc etc. there is probably some formula to that bonus it cant just be some .rand number... thats not the maplestory way... there has to be some sick twisted formula behind it. all im saying is could that sick twisted formula for the bonus hp/mp gain be in anyway connected to the hp increase and mp increase diffrence gained and the level the person is.

Even though it's a 5 level gap, note the drastic HP and MP changes. About 400 in HP, 300 in MP.

While by definition, any post that presents a disagreement could be called hostile, I'm confused why you use a word that has such a strong undertone to describe what I type, especially when commanding someone to leave a thread that is open to the public would fit that term better (Although I personally would probably never use the word to describe anything on the internet, unless it had a direct effect on real life, only because everything online is pretty harmless and undeserving of the word). I've gotten my CB's entire gearset changed from luk gear to dex (previously a dexless asura user, now a low dex DT user), so when Pirates are out, all I have to do is use the bank, and sign up for a run to helm my character. I still have to finish training my beginner up to 29, though (I plan on HP washing to regain the lost HP from a late advancement). Assuming my friends are available to help me, and I'm not working, I -should- be able to get 50 on day 1 (for the SS of me being ranked 1 as much as levelling faster....lols). Rig CPQ with 2x is faster training than anything I've ever experienced.

Man, I seem to be so much more relaxed about this than most. I have no intention of starting a beginner until I know when the patch is. I've just got two names saved to pick from, IDrankTheRum and VeryDrunk. I wanna savor every moment of piratey goodness, from Maple Island to KPQ and everything else in between and after. I'd like to think I'll level pretty quickly, but I have no aspirations of being number 1.

I haven't squared away much equipment, I've just been upgrading my existing character's stuff with common class equipment in mind. I've got the expensive bases covered I guess. Upgraded to Stompers and a 13att SCG on my Shadower recently, as well as a dex/strength PAC and dex earrings on my Sniper. I'll worry about OAs and other dex junk further down the line.

yeah, ive seen those animations around, i just havent seen where those came from and considering that they are PROVING my guess (that they will be out between sept and dec), i am so hyped... ive gotten back to merchenting so i can get another 80m for a silver deputy star as well as helm acc scrolls and enough for multiple zhelms

im also gathering 40 carnival points, 20 for level 50 knuckle, 10 for level 40 knuckle, and 5 for level 30 knuckle <3 (and an extra 5 for whoever needs the level 30 knuckle thats my friend)

Well, I am definitely going to make a Pirate, maybe not on the first day they come out, though. I have a level 10 dude with a 4/4 roll, named DeezGunnz. (Guess what job, eh?) That's all the preparation I've done, though!

That idea about getting items by saving Carnival coins is good, though; I have two characters that could easily farm coins right now, so I might do that if I get bored sometime. (One of them really needs some leveling, anyway.) I really should start hoarding some scrolls for common items, though, either to use myself or sell if the introduction of Pirates causes massive inflation.

I've gotten my 2 pirate characters(GunfireZ and SmashFists) to lvl 10, and I started gathering Orbis EQ items(for my Gunslinger). I've also decided to gather Maple Coins on both my Page and Cleric(both have like 2 coins and are 3X, so it'll require a little more work) so I can get lvl50 weapons. I'm not one of those that gets high attack gloves and everything for a character where you don't know from if you go on with it. My main uses 100%ed equips and I'm fine with it anyway.

I got a character up to Lv 10 in Bellocan even though my main character is in Kradia. I've been collecting a bunch of the Sunstars (or w/e they're called) for the Orbis Exhcange Quest. Apparently there's a chance to get a 60% Int earring scroll which seems to be worth the most for my time at the moment. Hopefully they'll still be worth good money when pirates come out. Then I'll transfer my Hermit over to Bellocan along with the equips and other items because everything is cheaper and they've actually beaten Horntail and seem to have an effective system for handing out pendants. Bought a bunch of overall armor for STR scrolls.

there is very little chance to solom pap at80. if you strong perhaps at 120with a few apples.

Everyone gets Dex equips for their Infighter because weaponry and armor requires High Dex to use. With Dex equips, people can keep their Dex at 20 and still equip high level Knuckles.

It's easier to find equipment that are prescrolled for dex or find scrolls that add dex. Scrolls that add str are limited to top, cape, overall... and that's it. Scrolls that add dex include bottom, cape, overall, shoe, glove, face, hat, and earring. Someone could have a mix of both, but like I said, it's easier to find equipment prescrolled with dex because three jobs use them right now.

It's 500 a minute with Rapid Fire. Check my latest post in the Cannon vs. Demolition thread. Their damage when they're not on the boat is just complete ass - worse than Marksmen. However, when they're on their boat their damage goes to higher than that of SE'd Night Lords or Bowmasters. Overall, I think they're going to train faster than Vipers by far (they can be on their boat most of the time, they were pretty much made for training), and even do certain bosses faster than Vipers (Anego for example). By no means will they be a bad class. You just have to deal with sucking for 125 levels.

Yeah, I kind of gave up on being a godly infighter.

I'm going to use my equips that I have whenever they come out because it's too hard gathering up equips without loading up on NX to make mesos :f7:

I'll level at my own pace, not really needing any fast leveling. It's just like my bowmaster to be: no party skills till 4th job. Considering how long it took to get to my level now, I'm in no hurry at all. I'll have the exchange quest items, I'll have enough pots to cover me for a long time.

Infighter will be first cause I wanna punch things (and i need a break from LOLhp on ranger =P)

Gunslinger second when some decently scrolled guns deflate. I would appreciate another ranged fighter. (I have access to all of the ranged characters now, but only 2 are 3rd job +). I did calculations and assuming my Zakum helm and HT Pendant are average I'll have 113 Dex. I'll probably just get a 7 Dex Nose and be a Dexless Timeless user.

Update - I made a 17 DEX, 13 speed bottom. Gonna use that and give Carlos my old 14 dex one. This pretty much means I won't have to scroll an overall until the Maker skill comes out and/or HT pendant upgrades come out.
