View Full Version : Various issues with the Pirate job
Description of Issue:
The Pirate job (mostly Brawler branch) has had various issues with it since the Pirate patch of last year. These problems range from glitched skills (while in a Transformed state, Somersault Kick and Drain move much slower than it should. Also if you cast buffs while on a rope it lags considerably.), sounds (1st job Pirate skills share the sounds from the GM skill book.), and some visual mistakes. (Pirates are labeled as "Beginners" on the log in screen.)
Why this issue needs attention:
It's just sloppy work. If people on a fan site can find out what is wrong with a job, how hard could it be for Nexon to find the problems? You wouldn't walk into a job interview with a resume full of typos. It's just shoddy workmanship. Plus, Drain and SSK being hindered really kills the point of using Transform.
Desired Action or Resolution:
What else can I say? These problems have been plaguing Pirates since the beginning. Obviously the desired action is to get these fixed. At least the more important ones like Drain and SSK being nearly unusable during Transformation. I'm just baffled that these issues could go ignored for over a year.

You forgot the speed cap of fastet (2) makes SI much less valuable than it should be.
I would love drain being fixed in transform.

Don't think so, but there's no feasible reason why it shouldn't be fastest (1). The cap exists in the first place because of speed hackers. They just set the cap too high when SI came around.

He meant 60% miracle scrolls, the 65%/15% scroll event, and the 50% scrolls.

I think it's because 15 and 65% scrolls existed before pirates, and they just re-added them without bothering to add Gun & Knuckle scrolls.

lol, they fixed the 'down' warrior typo with dawn warriors on the stat screen but they haven't fixed this?

Im in support. I almost never use Transform solely because it will slow my training down rather than speed it up. The overall lack of work put behind pirates and their issues is rather pathetic. We went nearly an entire patch with all skills being glitched to no-delay, making it nearly impossible to train in the transformed states. Further more, no special scrolls released while others get them shows a real lack of competence in pirates on Nexon's part. SEA released their "miracle" scrolls, and even included pirates in the mix, and even some scrolls such as two-handed sword for magic att, which might have little to no use to anyone.
Nexon could probably easily fix the skills issues just by copying the data from SEA or somewhere that has the correct sounds and in-data speeds for the slow transform skills. How hard were the pink scrolls and "miracle" scrolls to make for other weapons? You really couldnt be bothered to do the same for pirate weapons? Its not like you couldnt just copy the data for one of the sword or other warrior weapons and switch it to work for knuckles, and do the same with bow scrolls for guns, it might be lazy, but its at least something.

I'm actually glad they didn't do it for pirate weapons, if only because i really didn't want to make another equinox.
KMS point of view;
To my knowledge, on my striker-
Drain is extremely slow in transform
Using buffs on a rope is extremely slow
Unsure about SSK being slow, never use it.

The only thing is that I don't see how using Transform "slows down training oh so much!"
Sure, you can't use Sommer Sault Kick or Drain at full speed, but after fourth job, it shouldn't be an issue at all. Once you hit fourth job, you almost NEVER use Sommer Sault Kick and Drain shouldn't HAVE to be constantly spammable. If you really need to heal and you use Drain, yet need to use it again, what's the point? If you can't heal to a satisfactory point with one single Drain, you should use a potion instead. If yo really NEED to use Energy Drain instead of a potion, just do Energy Drain, then Cork Screw Punch, then Energy Drain. You remain invincible during the frames and you still heal. I don't see how that "drastically slows down training."

Clearly you've never been to oblivion 4.
The point is not whether or not it matters that drain is slow. The point is that it isn't supposed to work like that, is therefore a glitch, and should be FIXED AND HAVE NO ARGUMENTS AGAINST FIXING IT BECAUSE IT ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE THAT WAY.

Personally, concerning the 50%/100% scrolls, I have to say I'm impressed with Nexon. For once, they didn't jump at a chance to make even more money from their player base. Finally they aren't interested in just gouging us for money, and instead want us to waste massive amounts of real and in-game currency trying to get more things we don't really need. That or maybe they think they don't need to release them, since they have no pirate players, just thousands and thousands of beginners :f3:.
As for the lack of 15%/65% scrolls during the Spirit Week events, they can go fuck themselves.

I concur... More critical power too, please! Us Pirates need a much bigger boost. Captains could use something to make their class have more umph to make it a bit more fun to play and Vipers could use a boost to make them much more powerful, since they're on the lower end of the DPS chart... Sure, the class is fun and the invulnerability frames are godly, but having a decent part in the damage dealt to bosses would be nice... I always feel so short-handed in JMS when bossing, since I get so much less experience than the other classes that are lower level than me.

That's not even close to the same thing. Genesis with a level 10 wand is a way too significan amount of a damage decrease. With Energy Drain in Transform, all you have to do is Drain > CSB > Drain and it doesn't slow down your training at all. In fact, it may even speed up your training, depending on where you are. If you are in a mob, of course you'll have trouble doing it, but if you're to the left or right of a mob, you can push mobs close together with that combo while healing and it'll HELP your training. It's no different than doing Drain > Drain > CSB.

YES PLEASE! I would die in love for Nexon if they did that! That would be the best thing Nexon ever did for a class since they gave Mages/Priests ultimates.

Yes... but if you do that combo in Transform, you'll get a slight, annoying delay after you use Drain. That'll only get in the way and slow you down. They should fix it...

Drain - Drain - CSB is no different than Drain - CSB - Drain.
The latter might actually be slower due to the fact that any sane bucc will jump drain instead of using it on the ground like a retard.

You're not looking at the big picture here. The skills have been proven that they are not supposed to work like that by looking at the data. I'm not sure who told me, but the data has said that the frames for Drain and SSK had pointless "delays" in them. What about 3rd job Pirates who are fresh off of advancement? Usually they're so excited to be 3rd job and finally go SUPER, then they try to use it and realize SSK (which is still a decent mob skill at this level), and Energy Drain sucks. Transform is useful because it speeds up training thanks to the Haste-like speed. But then it gets ruined by the obvious glitches.
Stop trying to sweep this issue under the rug.

3.the nautilus harbour is actually outside of victoria island.. it is in the outskirts and in middle of every thing
4nautilus doesnt have its own monsters.. which makes it be different
5.cant use the taxi to nautlius(only in gms though)
6.skill lags/visual problems as mentioned
7.everything nexon america creates they exclude pirates...
8.in the KMS lv200 ranks the pirates get a simple platform while other jobs get a "luxury" one,sad..
my suggestion?
enter the forum of maple addition and look at my post,how to change the nautilus to be the same thing like henesys or ellinia,average town.
about the other things its just nexon america's problem

- Pirate equips and scrolls still can't be sold on MTS
- Too many cash shop weapons can be equipped over "any weapon except gun or knuckle".
It's quite clear that Pirates are the stepchildren of Maple. Even someone starting to play now, who's never known Maple without Pirates, can tell they are a late, and sloppy, addition.

I'd be happy with just three of the things mentioned in this thread
a) 1st job sounds. Seriously.
b) Speed cap of (2) raised so that SI works for all classes that depend on weapon speed. (probably means new cap of speed(-1))
c) Transformation skill speeds being consistent - apparently they work differently in every version...
@ post above mine, way more Pirate weapons work in MTS than polearms even. I dunno why Nexon hates Polearms...

Obvious problems:
1. Speed cap (2) to (1)
2. SSK/Drain speed in Transformed states need fixing
3. 1st job sounds need to become more Piratey
Nice things to have:
1. Stun Mastery to normal crit

It really is frustrating. I swear I get hit more when I transform then when I'm not... I like the speed boost, but since it slows down training I'd rather use speed pots to make me faster then use transform and run around with slower skills.

it's funny though how we're "part of cwkpq" in terms of you need 2 pirates to enter and there is a sigil and all...yet no boss? i feel like that's just stupid...
And as much as I'd LOVE to have normal crits instead of stun crits due to us losing that @ bossing, I don't think it'll ever happen...I was on a cwkpq run yesterday with SE30 + Apple and I was hitting over 100k crits every so often on the bosses...so yes we don't have normal crits but our damage is already high enough
About people talking about drain speed being not important, and about the csp >drain combo, at least for me, I can stick a drain almost anywhere, it just fits fine in the middle of any combo. Like when I know I'm going to get hit cause the dragon>csp doesn't give 100% invincibility, I stick a drain in so I heal that damage I take, and then keep on with csp and dragon, if I do that on transform, by the time I can move again after the drain I've already got hit again, so I wasted time and didn't get my healing...

Arans can easily hit 100k+ on 3 mobs with final blow and SE.

I don't have a brawler, but I support this entirely. The first job sounds are a joke, and I can't believe they still have those placeholder sounds just laying there in the skillbook.
What about Pirate equips? It's not much of a problem, but it just makes the job feel really unfinished. Why are there only str oriented equips? Why even bother labeling them by color if only one color exists for that level? Is it really too much work to just recolor the equips and slap on some alternate stats on it?
I don't care much about there being no gender difference in Pirate equips (there should be, but whatever, doubt they'll design new equips because that's too much work for them), but there should be more options in Piratewear. One that adds more dex than str, or evenly adds str and dex. A larger variety, so Pirates can actually look different from each other without NX.
But then again, they're too lazy to even design new Cash Shop weapons for us, I doubt they plan on even making new equips. How is that? They don't even care to cash in on the Pirate job.
They released the job with the minimum it takes for the job to actually work.
"Okay, we got some clothing and weapons from 1-120 for them. We'll make some more later and release new weapons when a new set comes out."
But then got lazy with it and stuck it on the "To Do...Eventually" list.
I hope Nexon Korea decides to go with the class revamp idea in the Summer, and they fix these problems.

A lot of people consider uni-sex clothes an advantage.
As far as alternative stats, people only choose equips with the one that gives the most secondary stat anyway. Making a dex str overall would benefit you less, spidey.

As far as alternative stats, people only choose equips with the one that gives the most secondary stat anyway. Making a dex str overall would benefit you less, spidey.
Oh, I knew very well it would benefit me less. But I'm thinking of Pirates as a class in general here. The lack of alternate armor just gives off the impression of an unfinished class.

I dont think the speed cap should become (1).
It will only make a more disadvatage for warriors.
Normal Speed weps, axes, and bw will never be able to compare. To 1h swords.

Sent a ticket to Nexon about pirates. Feel free to loosely use it when addressing the pirate issue but don't directly copy and paste it.
Since the release of Pirates in November of 2008, there have been a large number of complaints and issues with the job, both on your website and various other fansites. Two new jobs (Cygnus Knights and Aran) have been released since then, and it seems like Pirates are close to being forgotten despite the glaringly obvious errors.
First off, the sounds of first job pirate skills are wrong. They're borrowed from other jobs and they sounds horrible when used. This is something that could have quickly been remedied but has been ignored for well over a year.
Second, while in transformation mode, Buccaneers have extra unnecessary frames added to Somersault Kick and Drain. Speed Infusion has a speed cap of fast(2) instead of fast(1) which disallows pirates from functioning at their best.
Finally, pirate scrolls are consistently neglected to be added to special scroll events. You created 50% pink scrolls and there were NO gun or knuckle scrolls to be found.
Please look into these issues and any other issues that are bound to be brought up to you in the following days, and take them seriously. Pirates deserve the same amount of attention as any other class.

The pirate job ever since released over a year ago now has continually been looked down upon as a member of the adventurer class by Nexon America. Why is this? Both Cygnus Knights and Aran were both implemented for the most part flawlessly, yet pirates have had glaring glitches and flaws that restrict the class since it was released.
For example, weapon speed is capped at Faster (2) instead of faster (1) which restricts the Buccaneer skill "Speed Infusion" from working to it's full potential on all weapon types. Somersault Kick and Drain have added frame delays while transformed, reducing their usefulness while in a state that should speed you up. First Job sounds are using placeholder sounds from the GM skillbook instead of their own unique and appropriate sounds. Pirates are consistently excluded from events that reward special scrolls.
Such flaws and glitches never being fixed or even announced by nexon severely reduces gameplay quality and undermines the effort of those who worked so hard and spent so much money on their characters.
Please don't ignore the minority of your player base.
At the very least i hope they address the situation. If they fixed the speed cap and transform, i'd be very satisfied for a long time.

I don't like the way this has been worded, from an objective standpoint: You're claiming that the speed cap is a glitch, and that the Somersault Kick and Drain-speed is a glitch without any proof at all. Think of it: "Hay batches, x is a glitch because it makes the class worse. Fix it, you assholes.". Would you like to answer that? Heck, I wouldn't. Make it more like questioning "Hay gaise, I would like to have a notification on x, and how it is supposed to intend. Because, how it works in-game as of right now, it does y. Is this intended? If not, would you please look further into it?", but maybe with a bit more spice.
It's not going with false claims: As people already stated, false claims is a bad thing, and would discredit you. Try to ask aggressively whether this is a glitch or not instead. Even though it looks like a glitch, it may not be. (points toward elemental wands and shat)
I would, more than anything, have a notification stating how the speed-cap is supposed to do (Is weapon-speed 4 going to be speed-equal to weapon-speed 5 with speed infusion and booster? Is a weapon with weapon-speed 3, with aran-boost plus speed infusion going to be dropped down to -2 in speed? etc) and how Somersault Kick and other skills are supposed to work while being Super-Sayain etc.
I will try to send a complaint if I have the time, but my winter schedule's pretty busy. Most likely not.
I don't like the way this has been worded, from an objective standpoint: You're claiming that the speed cap is a glitch, and that the Somersault Kick and Drain-speed is a glitch without any proof at all. Think of it: "Hay batches, x is a glitch because it makes the class worse. Fix it, you assholes.". Would you like to answer that? Heck, I wouldn't. Make it more like questioning "Hay gaise, I would like to have a notification on x, and how it is supposed to intend. Because, how it works in-game as of right now, it does y. Is this intended? If not, would you please look further into it?", but maybe with a bit more spice.
It's not going with false claims: As people already stated, false claims is a bad thing, and would discredit you. Try to ask aggressively whether this is a glitch or not instead. Even though it looks like a glitch, it may not be. (points toward elemental wands and shat)
I would, more than anything, have a notification stating how the speed-cap is supposed to do (Is weapon-speed 4 going to be speed-equal to weapon-speed 5 with speed infusion and booster? Is a weapon with weapon-speed 3, with aran-boost plus speed infusion going to be dropped down to -2 in speed? etc) and how Somersault Kick and other skills are supposed to work while being Super-Sayain etc.
Anyone who has actually played a Bucc knows the glaringly obvious problems. If Nexon sat down and actually tested the characters thoroughly they would see it too. Please don't bring this "logic" crap into it. It's not up for discussion.
I will try to send a complaint if I have the time, but my winter schedule's pretty busy. Most likely not.

I voted no because of the speed cap thing. 2 speed is fast enough already, and the classes that can potentially break that cap are mostly already seen as the "better" classes. I really doubt it's actually a glitch either, as in unintended. Here are just some of the classes that miss out on the benefits from removing the 2 speed cap: non-stonetooth two-handed sword/axe/bw users, non-ski/purple board dark knights, archmages, bishops, bowmasters, and marksmen. Basically anyone using a 6 or above speed weapon or using skills not affected by SI. Aside from bowmasters (and bishops I guess since they don't attack as much at squad bosses), the rest of the classes there are generally seen as underdogs, and a speed cap lift would just benefit the classes already seen as "better" and would just give more reason for people to think that, other than shadowers and buccaneers themselves.
I support the fixing of all the other actual glitches though.

I'd feel awkward explaining to my parents if I were to receive a letter from the BBB in the mail after doing this, but very well.

You do however want part of the problem resolved, and you stated the only reason you voted no was because of part that you didn't think was an issue.
That's like not going in line to get ice cream because someone else asked for sprinkles and you don't like sprinkles, but you still want ice cream.
It's your cone - ask for it the way you want it rather than refusing to get one at all. Otherwise don't use the sprinkles as your excuse for not getting a cone.

Nope. Proof is in the data. During both Transformed states, SSK and Drain have extra frames in them. Someone has stated in the KMS balance thread that Pirates in KMS do not have this issue. I think it's safe to say that it's a glitch. Don't need Nexon to confirm this for me, or any other Bucc.

Actually nothing is naturally a faster 1, because the server caps it back up to 2. Removing that barrier to fix speed infusion would make those weapons actually work as fast as they should but do not today.
Not everyone is supposed to gain the maximum benefit from speed infusion, it's was never intended to make a slow 7 behave as if it were a 2, nor an item already at the fastest possible speed even faster. It's designed to move all back by the same margin up to max, which it does not do because of changes Nexon America made to prevent weapon speed hacking prevent ever reaching max. How beneficial it is to whom isn't relevant to the issue existing.

Yeah, I meant if they make the cap Fastest(1) SI will still be unable to affect dexless claws and a couple other weapons which can already hit 1 with normal +2 booster.
SI does make 7 behave like 2, take an Aran with a Slow weapon, their booster drops it to 4, SI to 2. I'm not sure what the rest of your post is saying about the max speed. IMO SI should work as a +2 boost for anyone who isn't a hacker, and is using a skill that depends on weapon speed.
Apparently weapon speeds are based around Normal(6), and use a speed+10 ratio to that to determine actual cast times (eg. 12/16 for speed 2). If that's the case, then you should see a 2/16 increase for all classes, not 2/16 for some, 1/16 for others, nothing for the rest.
There is a server side limit of 2. Anything that would reduce or naturally manifests as speed of 1 is forced to be a 2.
There are no 1's, period, no matter what is done. They're completely ignored.

In my opinion, the way to "fix" SI would be to shift all current speeds. Make speed 2 behave as if it was speed 3, by making all attacks slower and then decreasing the speed cap to 1 you would not break the game (and actually make it pretty much the same) and SI would be useful.

The deadline listed is when you need to send it by for them to all reach in the same period, not the time it has to arrive by. Send it today and it will be fine.
Make excuses and put it off and yes, it will be late.

Keep in mind that's their standard reply to anything from the BBB and generally a lie.
They're aware of what that does to their rating and even though they try to discourage you from using the BBB and play them off as unimportant they do try to address them in a manner that will convince the BBB to mark the issue as resolved.
Keep in mind also that just because Mark has gotten a reply doesn't mean everyone will right away - Odds are he was just the first to be received, get the standard template and as others begin to arrive Nexon will be faced with replying to the same issue over and over with the same reply or actually having to consider that this might be indicative of a real issue and hold them until they decide what to do.
These complaints go to a higher authority than the standard helpdesk so as that person sees more of these arrive in a close period it should begin to concern them and prompt some sort of action or response.

In response I cited one of my tickets that they never fixed (after saying they would), and one that they closed without responding to. I also copied my BBB thing over to the Nexon ticket system including the case number.

I took a closer look at some of my old tickets and they are pretty terrible actually.
In one of them they accidentally overwrote my description with the GM's response.
In any case, the specific glitch I reported a couple years ago that never got fixed is the Paula hair:

I'm not sure about mentioning sprite coordinates and stuff to Nexon, but I'm pretty sure this is just a matter of finding the hair id and adjusting the rope/ladder offsets for hatless hair, not some sort of hardcore recoding. It's hair 31410 and the bug affects every colour.
Sheer number of tickets is epic, though... this is ticket #5191. My Pirates ticket is #630287.

I got the same thing. Strangely, I did sort of the same thing as Stereo by pointing out Nexon's failure to fix countless whoopsies throughout the game.

It's not automated, but yes, that's one of their template responses from their Knowledge Base. It's an unusual choice of response to this issue though, what exactly did your ticket say?

That just makes the choice of reply all the more odd.
It could be taken as a sign they've gotten the message and working on an official reply though.

Seems like the other responses, just with the sentences in a different order. Don't know why it took until today to respond to a ticket opened 12/30. Maybe they wait longer to respond to lower leveled people? (I do all my support tickets from a level 4x wizard because I don't trust the website)

I got a letter from the BBB on Nexon's final response. I rebutted that their "ticking" services are crap and I'm extremely dissatisfied. They basically stated that they are sorry and that bug reports are forwarded to the development team. They also said any info in the bug report would be helpful.
