Hey guys got a few questions regarding the maker skill.

Q. im trying to make a advanced wisdom crystal and every time i do it i get one less intermediate crystal why is it failing :(

Q. im going to make a reverse aeas hand if i use 1 advanced sapphire and 1 advanced wisdom crystal does that mean my aeas hand will be 140 MA 5 int? or is there like a possibility of it changing to be below ect also is there any chance it could fail?

1) You're just getting unlucky. There is a rate for which it will pass, and upgrade, so you will get some fails (and a stolen crystal) as a result sometimes.

2) Yes, despite using any crystals, you item may end up below average. All about luck. If you have endless resources, or are feeling lucky, stimulators help raise the chance of it not going below average, but can destroy the item at a very low rate. Also, the item will still be made, unless you're using a stimulator (in which it might blow it up), but the stats will vary depending on your luck.

Maker has three distinct groups for upgrading and appraising: STR/DEX/LUK/WIS crystals, Black/Dark Crystals, and everything else. The probabilities and costs for each group differ slightly. It'd be wise to put these in your calculations when deciding what to appraise or upgrade.

STR/DEX/LUK/WIS Crystal|Meso Cost|Requires|Yield
Reg Cry -> Appraised|100k|1 ref cry|(74% for 1 LQ) (25% for 1 MQ) (1% for 1 HQ)
LQ -> MQ|300k|10 LQ|(40% for 9 LQ) (60% for 1 MQ)

A. See Throws' post.

A. When made in Maker, an item has a raw variation range for its stats. This variation fluctuates around the average point (shown on Maker UI if you mouse-over the item image). By how much it varies is given by Stereo's formula:

Variation range = 1 + floor(averageStat/10); caps at +/-5

For example:
An overall with 7 Str shown on the Maker UI will be able to have a variation of:
1 + floor(7/10) = 1
Meaning it can come out as 6~8 Str.
A weapon that has 60atk will be able to vary as much as:
1 + floor(60/10) = 7, but it's capped at 5 so it's 5.
=> Weapon can come out as 55~65.

This variation applies to all stats available on an item. Dropped items also have the same mechanics.

So to answer your question, no. 138MATK 5INT will be the average result (Adv Sapphire adds 3matk, not 5). You can be assured of the +5int (since it comes with 0int), but not the Matk, it can be better, or it can be worse.
And no, Maker doesn't fail unless you plug in a Stimulator, whose effect goes like this:
Made without stimulator: [-5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5] possible.
Made with stimulator: [0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5] possible.

im kinda doubting if the 1% for HQ is right, i seem to get them at at least 3-5% rate. this isnt just luck since i used about 3000 gems.

I think I balance you out, I've appraised like 400 stat crystals and haven't once gotten an advanced out of it. Unless you mean the jewels.

If you're NOT talking about STR/DEX/INT/LUK crystals, then no duh you're going to get more HQs. Black/Dark crystal HQ rates are 2.5% and the rest are at 5% from initial appraisal.

i ended up just going with an intermediate wisdom and use a sim :)
